I never knew that Dexter had an animated adaptation that was short lived but once I found out it made me get into the Dexter series. I also found out that Dexter had a marvel comic adaptation which is really cool.

Usually they’re always separate to create a tonal difference, but Todd treated the supernatural as another aspect of the wider cosmos. So you had aliens coming in, Heaven and Hell having some quantum BS tech, and so on. It really made the setting feel genuinely alive and “real”, in contrast with other such books where the world outside the genre might as well not exist.That for me made a unique enough book that had something going for it beyond the cliches. It’s not much, but it’s something you certainly don’t see often in any piece of media. I guess there’s stuff like Quake and DOOM which are kinda similar, but magic and tech, let alone aliens, Co-existing, is far too rare. The problem for me is that he’s still milking Al. Spawn could go on indefinitely as a book, as long as they keep ending each character’s story. Replacing Al with Jim, and then going back to Al, turned Spawn into the same exact Big 2 book that Todd was criticising. He should’ve taken the Crow and Grendel route.
