They're both appealing even if they are "ugly". Flapjack feels like it's just unsettling enough under an otherwise whimsical style to give you a general sense of unease, it's pretty neat. Zim meanwhile is basically its own thing entirely where it's basically hardcore goth meeting the 90s grossout style. I don't think any of them are truly ugly.
