I was talking to a friend recently and made a Powerpuff Girls reference that totally went over his head, I had to explain it was from Powerpuff Girls and he didn't watch it because he perceived it as being a "girl's show." That's wild. There's plenty of actual little girl cartoons that I've watched and would've been selective about who I told that to, but growing up, Powerpuff Girls was unanimously for everybody. All of my friends watched it growing up.
