For a time, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi was Cartoon Network's biggest hit, being the next Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab in terms of how much of a craze it was, yet despite this, the craze stopped less than 2 years later. Just months after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day float, the two DVDs coming out, a toyline being released, and having a GBA game, the show was canned with 5 episodes unaired in the states. The last thing ever made for the show were costumes which were released in October 2006, but were being made months prior and by the time those were released, Cartoon Network stopped airing it periodI'd compare it to how CatDog was a craze with how it was everywhere back then along with Rugrats and yet, despite that, CatDog stopped at just 68 episodes, but atleast CatDog reran on Nick til like 2005, while Puffy was dropped less than 2 years after it came out
I remember thinking the show decent but never one of my favorites. I don’t remember any of my friends ever talking about it, so I never thought it was one of the most popular cartoons. Maybe that’s because me and my friends were guys and didn’t want admit to watching a girly show.

Welcome to modern cartoon discourse where nobody has actually seen a single episode of whatever show is being discussed. Even though they could just type "Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi Full Series" into youtube and watch literally five minutes to have the slightest idea what the show's strengths and weaknesses are. That's simply too much of an ask. So instead let's have a thread with these very generalized, superficial answers that barely say anything because watching an old crusty unc cartoon is beneath the industry experts on this board. Let's reduce an entire fucking series to some empty shitposts and out of context fetish screencaps, because that's all that matters anymore.
I grew up in the 00s and I dont even remember seeing this show being promoted or played at all, I didn't even know this show existed until years later. And I saw many non-discussed cartoons, such as the crap put on kids wb during the final years. So the real answer is probably some suit changed and they stopped advertising it, assuming it was really a fad to begin with and not marketing bs op fell for.
