She is objectively the most morally-upright of the 4 main characters (though that's not a very high bar), yet she's stuck putting up with these dumb assholes acting like she's the one who "doesn't get it", and playing mommy to their insipid tantrums.

But as I was thinking of where you'd take a situation like that, I realized the logical conclusion already happened way back when Augustus groomed Daisy. Instead of this really changing her, it just left her thinking "well that was nice except for the last bit," and she now has the exact same insecurities as she did at the very beginning. Instead of character growth we get everybody continually reaffirming that Lucy is the most traumatized and therefore most mature person ever, even though her whole life is a downward spiral of making the same mistake over and over while letting her neurosis consume her. But if Daisy grew up and Lucy recovered at all, then Lucy might have to step off that pedestal she's on.
