In honor of Scott Adams' recent passing, post your favorite Dilbert strips to pay your respects.
>>152148465Technically 1 but that's because this one is the first one that pops up.>>152155117
>>152161457Good read, thanks
>>152161457I think it comes as close as possible since Scott Alexander really seemed to look into a lot of different stuff (the books, etc). There are some things I question and what's missing is that period in the early 2010s where Adams got people upset over that essay about how people treat women like children because it's the path of least resistance. But other than that it's way more informed than a lot of the tear-downs or excess tributes

I don't get why The Hub died. It had so many original series, exclusive 3rd party shows, and imports that hadn't aired in the states prior or atleast not on a notable network prior when it launched and then it just died>The Twisted Whiskers Show >Dennis and Gnasher >Cosmic Quantum Ray >Pound Puppies >The Horse Show>Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures >Deltora Quest>Family Game Night >The WotWots>In the Night Garden >Animal Mechanicals >Maryoku Yummy>PicturekaComment too long. >>152168973Boomerang and Nicktoons were more so repositories for rerunning old shows and weren't really trying to carve out new niche in the network landscape like the Hub tried to. Boomerang and Nicktoons also benefited from having larger libraries to fill space without much cost.
>>152158069I realized Discovery Kids' list of original series/3rd party exclusives/exclusive imports was smaller than The Hub once the NBC partnership started happening (Truth or Scare was made just before the NBC partnership). A lot of them ended up being preschool stuff likeBrumHi-5Animal JamThe Save-UmsPeep and the Big Wide World (yes, this was made for Discovery Kids, while also rerunning on PBS Kids)ToddWorldBalamoryHip Hop HarryBigfoot Presents Metor and the Mighty Monster Trucks WilburAll of which reran on TLC as well because both TLC and Discovery Kids had the Ready Set Learn block Comment too long. >>152169910Oh wait, also the import Grossology, which happened after the NBC partnership stoppedThere were also a few shows part of the NBC partnership that moved their new episodes to the Discovery Kids channel once the NBC partnership stopped like Endurance, Tutenstein, Flight 29 Down, and Adventure Camp. Really just those four
>>152158343>It hurts peopleNo it doesn’t>and companiesGood
>>152158069These were the shows that I could watch in moments; and yeah, one is an honorable mention because it didn't premiere on the channel but it's come from Hasbro and there's a 'Hub's feel.

Storyboards intended for the NostalgiaCon table read:https://www.guymooreanimation.com/portfolio-collections/collection_0f809c/gknd-nostalgia-con>For his first convention appearance at Nostalgia Con in Houston in 2025, Tom Warburton, creator of the television series Codename: Kids Next Door, decided to do a live table read with four of the original series' main voice actors, performing a new script for "Galactic Kids Next Door"-- his take on what might have happened to the kids of Sector V in the time following the end of the original series. As he did for the original GKND stealth social media campaign (discussed elsewhere on this site), he tapped me to create all the art for it, again in secret. There wasn't enough time to make a full animatic, but the idea was that I would capture certain key moments and visual gags, and that this media would be displayed on a big screen for the audience during the panel, either by itself as a backdrop, or with the voice actors narrating it, as appropriate.>Unfortunately, the Nostalgia con turned out to not only lack a big screen, but any screen at all... so the panel performed the table read by themselves, and none of the art or animation was shown. That's show biz, I guess.
>>152170794Sarcastic Hamsters>The ever-popular hamsters, mocking Numbuh Four. The through-line of the script's story was Numbuh Four trying to figure out who stole his underwear, and blaming the other sector Z members each in turn-- but this is the reveal of the ACTUAL culprit!
>>152170815door to Numbuh 1's Room>The door to Numbuh One's now shuttered room.>The script had the hamsters disappearing under a crack in the door, then Numbuh Four opening the door to follow them. (That's why there's a pay phone with a big button mounted to screen right-- that's the door switch.) But since we only had time to do a still image, we didn't have to worry about the logistics at the end of the day.
>>152170858The Return>The critical moment of the entire script, wherein Numbuh Four catches up with the hamsters, and makes a surprise discovery.>That's my voice doing the scratch dialogue, not Ben Diskin's. Had everything gone according to plan, at the panel read, they would have played a silent version of this, with him reading the lines.
>>152170887Battle Stations! (next level)>The end of the table read as originally proposed, with the reunited Sector V assuming Battle Stations.>I wanted to do something for this that both hearkened back to the opening titles of the original series, and also next leveled what was always a fan-favorite moment in every show. Thus the 1-2-3-4-5 sequential fall-in, and the anime freeze-frame on the leap. I was happy with how it came out.>That's my voice doing the scratch dialogue, not Ben Diskin's. If everything had gone accordingly to plan, at the panel read, they would have played a silent version of this, with him reading the lines.>Fun fact: there was MORE to the script, beyond this moment. A BUNCH more. But Tom wanted to end a high note, and was afraid it'd be too talky if the read went on for an extended period without any more visuals.>You'll have to get HIM to tell you what else was SUPPOSED to happen...
