Seth wanted to make the argument about how being Santa is a thankless job that is like a combination of indentured servitude as well as a non profit charity and the reason Santa doesnt care is because he has the easy job which is appearances and then dropping off all the toys. See its a subversion of how characters from Christmas specials like Hermie the Elf wants to be different despite the fact how the North Pole has no practical use for a dentist. See what this movie should have done is if Candy wanted a position of power and wanted to earn it she should have left the North Pole and looked for a career a human would have eventually excelled at to see the difference between toy maker and literal wage slave.
