I've been rewatching The Looney Tunes Show recently, as I haven't really seen it since it came out.
I am really enjoying it, just own its own merits as a cartoon I think it's lovely and I actually think it does a pretty good job staying true to the spirit of the original shorts.
In particular, I think LTS Daffy is very much in line with his original portrayal in a lot of ways - obviously some things are changed to make him fit in the suburban, basically real world environment that he's in, but I find his personality is a nice blend of mostly asshole Daffy with some aspects of goofy Daffy as well. He doesn't engage in off-the-wall cartoon hijinks so much, but the energy that you never know what Daffy is gonna do next is there.
However, I find Bugs Bunny's characterization to be lacking in a lot of ways. Unlike Daffy, he just doesn't feel that much like his original counterpart... the main thing that's missing in my eyes is his sense of pettiness.
Bugs is supposed to be a trickster. Sometimes he messes with people just for the fun of it, but more importantly if somebody messes with him, he gets back at them with hugely disproportionate measures.
The fact that I'm nearly at the end of season one and Bugs has never once said
>Of course, you know, this means war
is very disappointing.
I think part of the reason for this is that the original pitch had the main characters be Bugs, Daffy, AND Porky. This would've worked well because Porky is a natural straight-man and is portrayed the most like an everyman in the original shorts.
Without Porky, I feel like Bugs Bunny got put into the box of being the straight-man to Daffy's antics and didn't get to be very loony himself.

I've just been on a big Looney Tunes kick in general lately, building up to The Day the Earth Blew Up. I've been rewatching this as well as the old theatrical shorts and watching Looney Tunes Cartoons for the first time.
>>
>>144286106
That's nice, I've been watching some of them again too just because we literally have no new cartoons
Which are some of your favorites?

If I were Bugs I would jam my dick in Lola's mouth and never take it out.
>but but but buck teeth blowjob

She's a fucking cartoon, they're retractable or covered by inverting her lips. There problem solved. Now toonforce deepthroat with handlebars is safe to imagine without your realism bullshit getting in the way.

As far as the original shorts go, the Hypochondri-Cat is a really good one. I like anything with Porky in it, he might be my favorite character, so Porky Chops was another favorite. Also Draftee Daffy.
As far as The Looney Tunes Show goes, Sunday Night Slice was probably my favorite episode so far.
I haven't seen many Looney Tunes Cartoons but Pool Bunny was great.
All of this is just making me more excited for The Day the Earth Blew Up, even if it's not perfect I'm just looking forward to seeing two of my favorite characters in a traditionally animated film.
What are your favorites, anon?

Makes sense, in the later episodes where Porky and Daffy spend more time together they obviously flow better, unfortunately Bugs gets stuck back as a straight man to Lola this time.

Maybe Daffy is just easier to write, Duck Dodgers nailed his character perfectly too.

How
SJ Lola tries hard to be attractive and appealing but TLTS Lola is even moreso without even trying is what I meant
I know TLTS Lola having an actual personality helps
>>
>>144288411
Foghorn sucks since they didn’t bring in any of the characters associated with him. Why does random humans work for him instead of Miss Prissy, Egghead Jr. and Barnyard Dawg?
>>
>>144290439
Well that's not his fault, is it?
But I do agree that I think it's sad that Foghorn never appears with the Barnyard Dawg in LT shows even though they would grow old together as friends in the OG shorts
>>
>>144285962
So like an origin story for their Chuck Jones personalities? Honestly I like it. It'd work.
>>
>>144286106
Same here actually, there's been a lot more LT talk lately and I'm assuming this is the reason
>>
>>144285923
They should bring back the Looney Tunes Show in the style of season 1, only make it an adult (or teen) cartoon and make Bugs and Daffy be together as a couple. They'd be so successful.
>>
>>144288411
How is he so hot? I need to see him cuck Bugs Bunny by fucking Daffy in front of him
>>
>>144291057
You'd think someone who ships Daffy and Bugs would want them to avoid being a full-on canon couple. That would generate a lot of attention for a short while but in the long run it would kill that whole shipping community.

It is funny cool and kind of odd the humor it has and the fact that it casually has hot characters with actual fan service sometimes and even guns in a time that got toned down. The season 2 animation still holds up too
>>
>>144285923
LTS Daffy is Master Shake. He's Chuck Jones Daffy with the narcissism turned up to 11. Original Daffy was Tex Avery's Daffy which is more in line with Bob Clampett's Daffy: crazy, energetic, annoying. But yeah, LTS Daffy is based and red pilled, I love that he drives a parade float of himself as his vehicle of choice.

>>
>>144293107
Ah, I see. I didn't mean for them to be "ambiguous" though, that's why I brought a specific example.
>>
>>144285923
Yeah, I've been watching it again these last few months with those early morning time slots Cartoon Network has been giving it. It's fun. Though I think the show is much much better when committing to it's sitcom style rather than trying to emulate original Looney Tunes styled shorts. The episodes that feel more in line with those original episodes like the one where Bugs and Daffy are at a resort trying to compete for a girl or the random shorts in between the main sitcom plot are always lacking. Very lacking. To the point I feel like I'd rather skip them more often than not. The show struck unique gold with the every day but with Looney Tunes characters and I wish had committed to that entirely.
>>
>>144291473
>Lola doesn't wear panties under her skirt
that's hot
>>
>>144294175
People really hated that back then. There's a subsection of puritan fans who think Looney Tunes can only work if the characters are always looney, and that any diversion from that is automatically bad and the characters don't have any potential for it anyway. Obviously, LTS proved them wrong in the end, as it's one of the more beloved LT iterations. Maybe even more so than Cartoons at least by the general public.
>>
>>144294792
Just because of female characters for coomers and Baffy moments for fujos
>>
>>144290303
A 9/10 LT movie sounds too good to be true. If this is supposed to be part of the marketing then they need to do better because most people still don't even know it exists.
>>
>>144295243
I really wish it could be a success but that seems hopeless
>>
>>144294792
Yeah,I remembered that feeling when it came out. Still I don't really think them trying to do both the sitcom feel and Looney Tunes thing was really a good idea.
>>
>>144294969
Personally, not my experience. But I'm in the minority here. I don't care for the baffy interactions, and I don't like Lola, but I liked the fact that the characters were allowed to have actual plots instead of 7 minute shticks. It actually breathed life into them, and they were funny too. It wasn't just "looney tunes sitcom" because they actually tried to be faithful to their original personalities and it worked.
>>
>>144296845
>because they actually tried to be faithful to their original personalities and it worked.
But they didn't
>>
>>144296930
Their original Chuck Jones personalities
>>
The show is good but it definitely falls back on the sitcom archetypes which in turn reduces certain characters like Bugs instead of letting his historic personality come though. Does Bugs work as a straight man? Absolutely, but that isn't Bugs at his best.
Still a very good show however.

You're an aifag, that explains it. Anyway, it's the sign of a decent writer to ask the "why"s of a fictional situation to write it properly inside its universe, regardless of how mandatory that situation is. In this case, I showed you they actually did try to take inspiration from the Chuck Jones personalities. Ali Baba Bunny is mentioned. Also, (you).
