1963 is Alan Moore's spoof/homage to the Marvel Comics of the 1960s. yesterday. I posted the first 3 issues. "MYSTERY INCORPORATED", "THE FURY", and "TALES OF THE UNCANNY". Today, we start with #4. "TALES FROM BEYOND" featuring THE UNBELIEVABLE N-MAN in "Showdown In The Shimmering Zone!" and JOHNNY BEYOND in "Flipsville!"

honestly, re reading this now. this is my favorite story in the entire series.
next... HORUS, LORD OF LIGHT!
>>146489202It’s funny considering how much Moore hates Stan Lee that he’d do such a solid homage to his writing style and cover style for these comics
>>146490549doesn't he have a giant soft spot for silver age comics?
currently reading Ennis's run on The Shadow.
>>146491028If you really look at it, it's Moore's way of separating art from artist - highlighting his love for the classic traditions of the superhero genre while also putting the focus on how the people behind the scenes acted and demystifying their legends

I find it interesting that for this issue they kind of leaned more into 60s DC with the multiverse. When did Marvel start doing parallel worlds? Not counting the pre-Fantastic Four #1 stuff here.
had to do a bit of cropping
some fake comics covers...
