Honestly don't have much to say. I liked the episode, just not much to say. I really like that Ironwood is actually trying to show his appreciation. Them finally getting their licenses is a milestone that's simultaneously huge yet small at the same time. We're know longer watching a show about teenage students, we're watching a show about adult professionals (the whole cast except Ruby is over 18 at this point). But on the other hand, them getting their licenses doesn't actually change much about what their actually doing. So meaningful yet so meaningless at the same time. Also so like the line: "I almost forgot this is what I wanted in the first place" from Yang. Shows just how much things have changed. I feel like we're reaching a point where we should be able to tell Ironwood the truth now. I think he's proven himself enough. I don't know what else their waiting for.

>"When the world needs to be brought together more than ever. The road you traveled from our first meeting hasn't been easy."To be honest, I'm not really sure what the "hook" for this season so far is. We're about a third of the way through the volume already and I don't really know what to make of it. There's been a lot of exposition, an introduction to a bunch of old and new characters, gestures towards a theme of "trust", but it feels more like a collection of things happening without any forward momentum. There's some interesting stuff happening on the peripheral. Tensions between Atlas and Mantle, talk of elections, the heroes being more proactive for once. But an hour into the volume already, and nothing is really popping out to the forefront. I don't know. The villains are killing off Ironwood's political opposition and are seemingly about to join up with Jacques. They are trying to manufacture a narrative to create unrest and paranoia in Mantle. There's something here that sounds good - the way in which bad actors try to steer public discourse and pressure private parties for their own end. But there's no real focus on anything so far, so it's hard to say what the villains are actually doing. I'm getting flashbacks to volume 2, where most of the episodes were just sort of walking around the story instead of actually doing anything. Hopefully things pick up steam soon.>"It almost feels trivial now."
>>147113866I like the more episodic turn this volume has taken so far. Obviously it can't last for long, but I like It for now. I just think of it as a little respite from the constantly moving story, combined with them getting settled at atlas and getting the tower set up.

>>147114456I like the idea of an episodic volume (I think volume 3 did this pretty well), but it's not working for me this time around. It's probably partly because I was so annoyed by how volume 6 ended that I'm ready to move on to the next thing, and I still don't think they do the more basic stuff very good, like exposition for example.
>>147114984Ii get that. They haven't been very good at giving us new info lately. Other than exposition dumps.
