They even have one specific character - "L-għaġeb tal-presepju", "amazed shepherd" - who's completely losing his shit at what he's seeing.Midnight Mass has one interesting feature, the "Il-Priedka tat-tifel", the Child's Sermon: the story of the birth of Christ is told by a child, usually 7 to 10 years old, chosen beforehand. Afterwards, and after some traditional mqaret date cakes, there's a candlelit children procession through the streets of Maltese towns as well.The timing of the feast is also quite unique to Malta: early afternoon, which is why you can see it called the Christmas Lunch - although it can last until evening.
