But what really should have happened was for Caine to have known what Jax told Ribbit thanks to Bubble eavesdropping/recording their conversation (like he did with Ragatha and Kinger's heart to heart talk), casually dropping the "I might have killed my mom and ran away from home" bombshell on everyone in the aftermath of an adventure (maybe a murder mystery and him explaining that potentially comitting matricide made him realize that Jax would be the perfect fit for a murderer), Jax being furious because he thinks Ribbit broke her promise and told Caine and refuses to listen when she insists that she didn't tell him anything, and the emotional blow of losing her best friend/possible boyfriend causing her to abstract. He'd eventually realize what actually happened once he has a better understanding of how Caine works and would be saddled with guilt, self-loathing, and anger over what he did to her, leading to the Jax we know in the present: a troubled asshole who keeps pushing people away out if a sense of self-loathing, survivor's guilt, and believing that forming close bonds will only end in heartbreak. So Ribbit's abstraction is still his fault, bit in a way that isn't iredeemably horrible and mind-bogglingly stupid (at least I hope so).
