The British adopted it in the 80s but the first war they fought with it was the Gulf War which deserts in general tend to cause rifles great anxiety and distress. I think my favourite common malfunction was that the magazine would regularly drop off the back while on patrol, and with the pooper-centric design its kind of hard to notice, especially if you're not used to the rifle being put together backwards. This is not great if you need to shoot and don't know you just have the single round loaded in the chamber. The way designs like this work they did actually fix it, it's not a pile of hot garbage anymore and early versions of these designs often have way more problems than people think, but how the fuck did you manage to do that badly guys, seriously.

Steel surface finish was garbage and would instantly rust, the plastics were both brittle and dissolved in alcohol, it never cycled properly, the mag release had no guarding and faced inwards so you would constantly drop the mag just moving around, the mags themselves would bend and fail to feed, its horribly off-balance, its super cumbersome, it couldn't be fired lefty or even converted to left handed without ejecting brass directly into your eyeball, absolutely zero redeeming factors and when they gave it to H&K to unfuck they basically threw everything into the bin and started again.As for bullpups in general, like other anon said you get more barrel length out of the same overall weapon length because the action is further back. The tradeoff is they're objectively worse by every single other metric. More cumbersome to reload, can't easily see inside the chamber while shouldered, basically non-existent length-of-pull adjustment, less rail space for accessories, closer to the shooter's ear so much louder, shitty triggers cause so many linkages, need gimmicks for left-handers cause the ejection port is where your face goes. They're good for vehicle crews who hardly shoot anyway because they fit through doors easier, but CQB claims are a cope because .300 blk from an 8 inch barrel into someone 10 feet away kills them.

Reposting this because mods considered the pic I used loli, not shortstack.>I've been working on some worldbuilding and I've got two races of shortstacks. Both are about three feet tall. One is more typical imps/yordles/gobbos, and the other is a race of plant-girls, and neither are genetically compatible with humans. The plants reproduce asexually, laying fruit like eggs, they enjoy being fucked, but it doesn't actually play a role in their reproduction. The imps I previously intended on having only 1 in 12 of them be born male, and they're all timy-dicked femboys. I only thought of the plants after the imps, and after giving it some thought I'm not entirely sure if I want to keep the male imps or just have them also reproduce asexually too. On one hand I made the males very feminine and rare because the point of their whole race is that they exist basically just to be fucked by human men, so getting rid of males entirely solves this problem, but on the other hand the only other shortstack race also reproduces asexually, and none of the others do.
