Eh, nanomachines are kind of a modern/five minutes into the future variant of a magic potion in a setting with no actual magic. Just envision them being programmed with an extreme degree of 'self replicate but also sustain the host to make her big enough to contain the equally growing nanobot collective' programming and you suddenly have a perfect recipe for a girl growing relentlessly as said bots build her bigger and bigger. Otherwise I agree. Growth rays are so dull. Spells are great ways to incorperate a massive dose of chaos to a situation if one goes arwy, or is accidentally cast too strong, or the spell hits the wrong person. Same with potions, what with the capacity for trickery or food/drink spiking. I'll also say that potions and nanomachines are perfect for growing out of clothes where rays kinda enforce the clothes growing with the grower, somewhat like spells to a certain extent. Unless you add some 'doesn't grow unliving material' rule for the setting. Or, as you said, an apprentice without a firm grasp on growth magic accidentally not including it.

99% of the time the patreons are absolute garbage anyways. I.e no exclusives, very limited early access/higher paywall to access genuinely early, polls that dont matter (just a popularity contest never have i seen one where 1st gets to go first 2nd gets done second etc), or just limited posts altogether. I've seen maybe 2 good patreons worth my money ever. Especially since most artists do jack shit with the money, like it never means anything, the only people where I've seen patreon=harder work is Lajest and TailBlazer (TB's patreon is pretty good btw, if you can handle all his other odd kinks)

This anon has a point. A potion can be created by an alchemist, wizard or scientist and the result would be the same. A growth ray could be either shot by a gun or a magician and it wouldn't make a difference. It just comes down to if the method makes sense with the theme the growth is taking place.

There seems to be a lot of mixed levels of approval and vitriol with animators and artists so what do you personally want to see put out there to make things better? Hell even, just stabilizing the fandom so that people are content? Not him, what what I like to see is indoor growth done with an eye for growing inside a place that has the actual layout of whatever kind of building it's supposed to be (house, office building, etc.) and not a bunch of slightly decorated boxes loosely attached to each other. I also like nudity, sexual growth, and deliberate destruction. Voiced dialogue rarely turns out well, but voiced moans and grunts have a much higher change of making the overall video better. I hate animation time and effort wasted on setup, use a goddamn intro card to set up the scene if you have to and pick up at the good part. Regarding video length I don't have a real preference, but I'd say it's rare that 6+ minute videos are worth watching in their entirety due to being very likely to run into the aforementioned setup issue.

It's not perfect, suffering from some mediocre spoken dialogue, but it's not bad enough to detract from the near-perfect growth groans and grunts the VA gives and the animation is top notch. It's a good example of how a great size video can be all of 40 seconds long and be just the right length.

I of course have my own personal preferences but I really think a just consistent short and sweet upload schedule of one 1-2 minute growth vid a month with some moans and some extra "hook" is all that's necessary.

As that anon pointed out, that lajest video is a good example: very short, has some sexy voice acting, has some lactation to spice it up. Short, sweet, effective.

Anonymoly used to do this (more or less) and now he's going off the rails with overproduced, 9 minute long vids with no sexual content and paragraphs of spoken dialog that take months to produce. AzMaybe also used to do this until he got swept up on making some SFW project written by some guy with a legitimate mental illness that scared everyone else off the project (and now 3 years later he has next to nothing to show for it)

And that's really it, something short that keeps thought in mind that everything is getting smaller - even clothing - to me shows tremendously more thought and effort than a 9+-minute-long art piece that uses voice-acted dialogue, the woman stays fully clothed and rolls over small things, and the camera turns into the Bourne Identity films' camera and goes apeshit. The example of what I'd want to see is probably AZMaybe's Pyra vid, which had the formula down perfect of what I like to see in a growth vid, and at the complete opposite end is the Diane vid he did, which was just a bloated, forgettable piece of content, only memorable in the sense of how unsexy it was. I have my own biases with characters and artstyle and stuff too, I'd prefer to see chars from series I like, and a vibrant, JP-styled anime-ish artstyle over anything Western and semi-realistic, but I'm looking for the concepts I dig more than anything, hitting my biases is just icing on the cake.

Years ago, after Pyra, AZ said he'd want to do a Morag video in the same style, and seemed super excited about it, and I was too. Now, I'm not even sure I'd want to see it, because I just know it's going to involve a VA who barely sounds like her, with a clipping mic, it's going to be fully clothed, and she's just going to clumsily step on stuff while the camera jumps all over the place - and then you'll get a bunch of lovebombers come out of the woodwork and call it cinema, and get ready to consume the next vid months later. If there was a dedicated animator who did short vids on girls exploding out of their clothes, it'd be fine, but almost every single one ends up going the "AZkino Route", and it's tiring.

I've talked about this a few times, so I'll try to keep it brief. My tastes are a bit widespread, but I have reservations.

I like growth that is not expected, first of all. A wayward blast, a spell that goes awry, or just a freaky growth spurt, I like the panic and embarrassement that comes with it.
Something I don't see enough of, is a sneaky friend or stranger making a lady grow against her will, and being chased by said lady, her increased size making it difficult to not wreck everything and expose herself.
Heck, a growth maniac that enlarges all the hapless ladies he finds in his path ! At the end, he gets arrested by the skyscraper-sized policewoman, and is surrounded by lots of giant grumpy faces of multiple sizes. Might be a hard job to make though.

If it's indoor growth, more big limbs growing through floors, and more ceiling shots !

As for length, I'm fine with short or long. But for the latter, keep it interesting, yet simple. I see AzMaybe being mentionned, and I LOVED his Diane videos ! His recent Makoto one however, it was only good. Too much stuff, not enough focus on the big lady.

But I still like his more SFW-gentle approach, as I am a prude. It's why Scrag's stuff is a mixed bag for me. The weight, the sensual growth, the models, oh it's gorgeous ! But it's always so, so mean. I'm not much for huge bullies, but a growing show-off is nice now and again~

The tragedy to me is that he showed early on a lot of potential: The Pool Growth remix was amazing, the Bowsette and Samus videos pretty solid too. I think the Diane one was also pretty fun, but after that seemed he drifted off.

I guess I just wish he'd focus more on interaction and characters in a growth race situation. I personally tend to be less interested if something features a character I have no interest in, but even outside of that it feels like things have gotten... Same-y.

Going to break from others here and say that mental health gay is an unfortunate part of being a fetish artist. Removing that aspect I think would impact the overall quality of fetish content because you have to be partway fucked in the head to be maladaptive enough to think about and then realize such scenarios. That's on top of the addictive and brain-destroying dopamine rush you get from inevitably coming from your own work.
