There was an endgame boss that realistically you could not beat without the Demon King's help or having been the King for at least a couple hours. The Nether Dragon. (Sorry Minecraft, we did it first.) They would build up their armies, boost their stats, and sally forth. A glorious campaign built upon hours and hours of their work.And then?Then they changed.

People who knew that as the Demon King, just as quickly as you took it away you could give it all back. They could be King and have their army, and trounce the final boss for satisfaction. So they would try to convince you to give it all back.
