I was restoring/refreshing an old bench vise and applied paint when it was probably a little too cold outside and it crinkled badly. It even pulled back away from the masking. I messed up the masking tape as you can see the less than circular painters tape. I applied a few spritzes over it before realizing what I was doing was dumb and I should just wire wheel it off to get a good base surface again.

Its a bit of gore, but nothing too awful. I did it right and its been in service for years now. I have to re-apply paint to the entire thing after another restoration project; the wire wheel took parts of the vise down to bare metal again and I'm planning to paint it again to get it looking nice.

Yeah I get it, some guys like their tools to look like shit. I had to disassemble it completely and clean it off, if you leave bare iron like that bare it rusts and gets worse again. Paint helps prevent rust and corrosion and ensures proper function.

I have run into those situations, this image is not one of them. This is most likely a live construction site, and they didn't have permits to connect everything to mains yet, they just had a construction drop. So they took an extension cord with the 2-gang box at the end, and wired things into it. They're morons, but there isn't really anything to 'fix' here. Just take the leads and connect them correctly to the neutral bar and breakers, etc to finish the installation.

some OC for ya
Found when gutting my kitchen. It had been redone at least once before, probably early-mid 90s judging by the counter top that reminded me of a background from rockos modern life. Most of the wiring they didn't even bother to run through the walls, instead they pinched it in the belly seam of two pieces of sheetrock and then put some 1/8" wood paneling to hide the butchery.

It's a cultural thing, Indians unironically think this makes them more manly. It's also the reason why there's so many videos where they see who stays immobile at the rail tracks the longest as the fucking train approaches (and many get hit).
Indians purposefully putting themselves in danger is like a peacock showing off its tail feathers to a female of its species, except they're so dumb they often die while doing so, and when they actually survive, I doubt Pajeetas even care (so they rape them).

There is nothing to isolate the vibration. You are going to hear that compressor throughout the entire house.
>>
>>2866974
Hmmm, you may be correct. The concrete pad does little to dampen vibrations too. I lived in an apartment once with 6 AC units along the bedroom wall and it was a constant hum like a diesel truck outside the building when they were all spinning. Just 1 I could still hear it.

Lyndon B. Johnson, the 36th president of the United States reportedly refused to accept staff arguments that outfitting the shower with the demanded features—including one nozzle aimed “directly at the president's penis”—would require a great deal of plumbing work. “If I can move 10,000 troops in a day, you can certainly fix the bathroom any way I want it,” Johnson told the staff, according to the book.

Yeah, it wasn't actually rotten it was turned into powder from inside by some kind of beattle we have up here that stays dormant in the wood and dies with the contact of air.
You don't have this problem with plank that come out of a mill because they dry it or something. This is what Mr Bug told me.

Those plank were most likely taken from a junkyard by the ex-ex-owner who was a bootlegger. I also have three wooden beams that looks like they came out of a railroad track but the rest of the house is fine.

they are custom fabricated probably right
i cant imagine there being a storehouse of manhole covers with varying curb depths and lengths

I'm sure they split a cover at the step.
They then cut a section from another cover to attach the split pieces at the correct offset.

Real talk.
What's the issue here? You gotta problem with 50's wiring? That's rough sawn lumber. And hand driven nails. Looks like it still works. Oh, you found that in your attic? Or crawlspace on a home that has better bones than any new house built today? Sure, find the circuit and map it out and remove it since you're already up there. You're gonna run new romex for your can lights anyway. Or your bathroom fan. You are going to run a dedicated run (20A) for your fan/heater combo right? Or did you just find a dead circuit with a cool switch that your great grandparents generation installed and you thought you should take a pic for reddit and it didn't get any traction so you thought you'd try to get points here? Well guess what bucko, you fucked around and found out. The only thing "rekt" about this pic is your sense of self awareness.

>Not sure how though since the water heater doesn't have any power going to it
Code requires all gas and water lines (if black iron or copper, respectively) to be bonded to ground.
>>
>>2861185
That's just aluminum oxide dust from cutting the wire.
>>
>>2868734
why would it be going through the water heater they would have to lose the neutral and the ground after the water heater

Bad stock of boards with mismatched widths? I'm struggling to figure out how this happened.
>>
>>2868843
If the face plate were screwed on that might be a pretty clean install. Whats worse: a bit of an unusual faceplate, or 6 faceplates and boxes in 1 spot in the room? Ever see a single coax come from a face plate, then next to it is a single ethernet port, then next to that is a single phone port, then next to that is a blank cover, then next to that is a couple outlets or whatever? Looks like shit, just combine them.
>>
>>2868953
>>2868973
My guess is whoever installed those vinyl planks didn't align them very well past that first or second from bottom miter joint and it got worse from there.

Kinda like my fuckin fence where I didn't stop every 5-10 boards to ensure it was still level, now half my fence has a slight angle to it if you stop and look.

>I'm struggling to figure out how this happened.

A slight difference in spacing between boards adds up.
If all on the left are closer together by less than a sixteenth, the mismatch will be an inch by the time you get to the corner.
Two crews working from opposite ends didn't see the difference until they met.
>>
>>2869001
If the metal connector touches the hot lead on the plug its going to energize the whole shield of the coax
>>
>>2869021

The angle isn't quite 45 degrees.
If you want to use a miter joint, the angle has to be precise.

Simply untrue, board gap is different on the sides. Probably because they though that with slight changes in the gap they can divide the lateral board count in to a full number, so no need to cut a board lengthwise. Sadly it does fuck up the miter joints.

Looks bad, but there's intentional and (mostly) consistent fusing. relatively clean tapework and layout. I'd give this a 3rd World 9/10 assuming the missing phases are due to a currently ongoing repair. only the first wire fuse looks iffy (4 copper strands instead of 2 like the others)
>>
>>2860582
Literally only 3 bad things in this. Number 1 is he touched the fuse with his non insulated hand right before contact which is bad practice. and 2, this fucker is not in a fucking grounded control box and just out in the fucking air ready to fry any fucker that comes by. and 3 the "panel" is not securely mounted to the concrete pole.
