>>18182386 here>>18179596Okay, I was very very skeptical but indeed, full incense actually smells like incense. I genuinely did not believe it, especially from a Montale frag, it doesn't feel synthetic and 'screechy' (a pretty fitting word for everything else from the house that I've tried) at all. I do not agree on your description of Rien though. Yes, you were right that they have nothing in common, however this one smells mostly nutty and has some deep(as in 3D) sweetness to it, with nothing even remotely 'incense'-ey in it, and not at all leathery, kind of reminds me of amaretto for some reason. It's certainly a pretty good frag but full incense absolutely blows it out of the water.

L'homme infiniment brosI've been collecting frags and had frag autism since I was 15 or 16, I'm 32 now and just getting into making my own "natural" perfumes out of high quality absolutes and essential oils. The key word here is high quality, I remember reading horror stories in this very thread about idiots trying to make their own frags out of essential oils from whole foods or multi level marketing companies. If you actually take it seriously and get real ingredients, this is more fulfilling than chasing whatever designer or niche trend of the week. I want to share with you guys a perfume I just made, components go in a 10mL roller vial and it can be used almost immediately with no maceration needed. And yes I'm the incense retard from the past few threadsTop>bergamot, pine, hojari frankincense EOMid>somalian frankincense CO2Base>myrhh, agarwood, hojari frankincense absoluteI wish I had capital so there could be an actual incense fragrance on the market.

>>18183525how much fag?
>>18183528>>18183535I don't have enough of the materials to make it for others right now but I will try to get around to it. I am just dipping my toes in it right now. My goal would be something reasonable like $60-75 for 30mL, which is what I personally would pay for a high quality natural perfume, keeping in mind niche retards will pay easily 3-4x that, although I don't know how economies of scale or any of this works.
The decants I've bought arrived. So far I've tried two. I've found Lalique Pour Homme to be pretty balanced, with the sandalwood and the vanilla keeping the oakmoss and the woods from smelling too old school. There's maybe something a bit powdery for me on the drydown, but I'll have to wear it again to be sure. Bogard Pour Homme smells what I'd expect a really old school to smell like. It's pretty good and not overpowering. I like it.
>>18183619I don't get the point in decants of cheap fragsbut maybe I'm just really good at guessing what frags I'd like so I've been fine with reviews and notes
>>18183652There isn't a single one of the ones I've decanted that are readily available for me to try at a mall where I live.
>>18183653I coudln't try any of them at the mall either (except for the bentley in a physcial notino) I just thought that I'd enjoy them and I didI can also spare the space and money for them so even if I didn't like them I would be fine(i have full bottles of all from the picture except for the bentley and prph)
>>18183657I'm not familiar with that style so I thought I'd rather try several on that vein than blind buying several bottles, I also try to keep as few bottles as I can, I have three with me currently.
>>18183658> I'd rather try several on that vein than blind buying several bottlesyeah I guess, I was put on to "old man" scents after smelling sycomore once>I have three with me currently.what are they?

"old man" fragrances are basically whatever people your dad's age wore while you were growing up. Gen alpha is going to think of Versace Eros as an old man fragrance. Old men will one day where gross, vanilla fuckboi fragrances
>>18183679This, that's why you should only wear perfume that came out in the last 3 years.

>>18183807Nta but it still needed said. Redditors genuinely think certain types of notes are "old man" or "youthful" or whatever, when it's entirely associative. Sweet abroxan scents aren't inherently more youthful than musky fougeres, it's just that's what current young guys wear (although that's changing already).

>>18183679It has less to do with how old a particular fragrance is and more to do with what’s the image of a man in a particular era. The man of the early 21st century is best represented by clean, sweet, metrosexual fragrances and as long as the general idea of a man can be represented like this, these scent profiles will not seem old or dated. It’s also why vintage scent profiles will not magically come back in style as some think except in small niche groups. This anon >>18184063 is probably correct.

Got LV Imagination and Aventus this week.Aventus is good, I'm happy I got it but I wish it lasted more than 5-6 hours. I got a bottle from 2019, back when I first wore it around 2013-2014 it would last all day. Still nice as a dumb reach going out frag.Pleasantly shocked at Imagination. I can still smell it when I take a shower the next day, the tea note is crystal clear for me. Smells fresh all day even in the heat and humidity here. It's far from the most complex fragrance I've worn but it's great for warm weather. I can't see myself reaching for it once the weather gets cooler but I'm enjoying it for now. I think there's a variation of looksmaxing in these threads where people lock into this contrarian mindset and want to believe whatever fragrance they are wearing is the best and everything else is dogshit and won't "work" rather than viewing it as a very subjective hobby where you should just enjoy smelling nice.

Cheap fragrance that can make me feel rich?
Why do you guys hate Hugo Boss?
>>18184863because it smells like toilet bowl cleaner
>>18184864All of them?
>>18184865Anons are just being contrarian for the sake of hearing themselves talk. It's always "X is shit lol". It's never X is shit, here's why (no,saying every single Hugo Boss frag smells like toilet cleaner is not a good faith argument), nor is it ever X is shit, here's something better at a comparable price point. Because odds are they don't have X, they've never smelled X,they have no idea what makes it good or bad, they just want to seem better than you by immediately shooting down a suggestion and acting superior.I don't like a lot of Hugo Boss frags because they're too sweet. However the line has started to improve recently, Elixir is a good fragrance and drastically different from other Hugo Boss frags, it should have had its own name. Marketing fucked up naming it Elixir because they wanted to have something that sounded comparable to Sauvage Elixir, Gucci Elixir, etc. Elixir is the new buzzword, that's why YSL has one already and Ralph Lauren will be next.
>>18184862Polo green
>>18184833First, checked. Second, most Creed's are overpriced at best, shit performers at worst. Aventus isn't bad but the army of imitators (many equivalent or better performers) have robbed it of it's luster. The dick riding on social media especially by hypebeasts and brown weirdos hasn't helped.Third, nice bulge. I would rather the page be flooded with bulge pics than see the same back and forth bullshit "discussions" all the time. That's a really good pic, you can see plenty but there's still something left to the imagination. It's pretty tasteful for a dick pic. I'd give it a solid 8 to 8.5/10.>t. homo
>>18184285>Nagel terrible>H24>Eau Givree>Citron Noirlol k
>>18184889NTA, I don't think she's terrible it's just that she's following one of the greatest and hasn't really made a unique frag that stands out as a personal style like Elena didCitron Noir is good, but it's not really unique beyond the smoke note.Eau Givree is good but it's based on someone else doing the initial workH24 really isn't that good, and it's a throwback to older style frags with modern touches rather than being a new step forward.I would have rather seen Buxton or Bisch take the helm. I think Nagel is good but she's not great yet, and Hermes was always pushing forward even at the designer level.
>>18184905I think H24 is unique enough to be considered its own DNA, and it looks like Hermes thinks so too since it gave her two more flankers. I think Bisch is busy - Sounds like another big house made him their head; perhaps Paco Rabanne?and Buxton has a heavy style that may be in conflict with the typical Hermes vision; although i'm sure he would adapt.
>>18184905what the fuck is H24 supposed to be a throwback to? there’s literally nothing else on the market like it. hermes may claim it’s a fougere in the marketing material, but there is really no lavender in it at all. and that anon left out nagel’s greatest works so far, galop and the twilly line which are probably the best feminines hermes has ever made. jean claude certainly didn’t make any of note. >buxtonoff doing his own thing and absolutely not compatible with a mainstream luxury brand like hermes>bischdogshit perfumer, doesn’t even deserve to be in the discussion.
>>18184871For the record, Ralph already made an elixir, and (no) surprise, it’s terrible. >>18184879Pretty solid review of Creed in general, completely ignoring their downright lies in marketing. >>18184905Agreed she’s got incredibly large shoes to fill. Agreed about Eau Givree. Disagree about H24, it’s relatively unique for its design space. Never sniffed the Noir. >>18184943>bisch>dogshit perfumerJust writing him off like that shows you’re just butthurt about him in general, prob because he’s made so many things that garner a lot of discussion, primarily Bois Imperial. Mind you I’ll admit I’m a fan of a lot of his work, but the previous statement is objective. I also agree, however, he doesn’t seem like he’d be a good fit for Hermes.
>>18184966>Disagree about H24,For me, it reminds me of how my grandfather smelled growing up. I don't mean that in a bad way, I love "old man" or mature frags (I've got original formula bottles of Polo Green, Versace L'Homme, Antaeus, Salvador Dali Pour Homme, Kouros, Ungaro 2&3, and Bel Ami). Smell is very subjective, for me H24 doesn't smell unique at all, it reminds me of growing up.>Bisch You're right, he'd probably be a bad fit trying to make multiple frags in a cohesive house style or vision. I just like his diversity and willingness to try new things and make new scents.

This is the best male fragrance produced in the past 13 years.
I've heard the new batches are scarily good. Is that true?
>>18184862Lalique Lion has that high class old money smell
>>18184871embarrassing
>>18185005I'll be as objective about this as possible: At this point Aventus has become such a hot topic in the frag world that it's almost impossible to get an unbiased opinion. The diehard Aventus fanboys on Basenotes, Fragrantica, etc will either worship every batch as BEAST MODE or hate each batch, say it's terrible, has no performance, smells like shit and then two years later when it's cheaper or filtered to discounters say the batch has now "matured" or "macerated" and is now, you guessed it, BEAST MODE.The Aventus haters will say you're a shitskin if you like it, Creed is goyslop, it's not niche, etc. Don't bother asking them who runs the brands they claim to buy bottles from.Aventus was a 9/10 when it came out because it was unique in the fragrance landscape, it performed like a champ, it was innovative and just smelled great. It's maybe a 7 now. Far from bad, it's still very good. But it's no longer unique, doesn't perform as well, and it's not as cool to the nichefags because more than 6 people know about it. You're nuts if you pay retail for it, get a 30ml decant or a bottle from a discounter and you'll get your money's worth. Batch is nearly irrelevant, it's comes down to when they tweak the formula.
