/btg/ BOOT GENERAL - CROCKETT JONES EDITION

What do I need to care for my boots?
>Old cotton t shirt (one for cleaning, another for applying conditioners)
>Horsehair brush ($10-15)
>Wooden shoe trees ($10-15)
>Light conditioner like Lexol/Bck4/renovateur
>Heavy conditioner (if you live in terrible snow/rain areas) Sno seal/Obernauf LP
>Don't forget that boots need time to dry properly, rotate them and rest them

How do I deal with x stain?
>mud: allow it to dry then brush off
>salt: water and cloth as soon as possible
>saturated wet: allow the boot to dry for a full day, stuff with newspaper
>scuffs and scratches: buff vigorously with horsehair brush

>Should I buy turdsdays/soloshits/doc shitans?
No they are filled with synthetic materials aimed at instant comfort but will not hold up to actual use.
>b-b-but muh ecelebs on youtube said they're good
no. you will waste your time and money and still have uncomfortable footwear at the end of the day. spend the extra $100 and get something real.

someone explain the bootconomics here how are turdsday buyer this fucking retarded
>>
Seconding my a final time, maybe someone has advice.

1. I'm looking for service boots, it's important they still look casual. So rough design and/or suede.
2. My budget is merely around 300 euro/$350 and I am based in Europe. So my choices are very limited.

The best one I found so far are these Yankos. They look way better on photos than the product page.

I did. get the White's MP. I've been in the same position as you, wasting small amounts of money for shit boots when I should have coughed up the full amount for a good pair. Going cheap cost me more in the long run and I wish someone had warned me to get White's instead of wasting all that time/money going through cheap shit
>>
Is it me or are the brass boots softer than diesels, despite being sold as a more rugged boot?

i generelly wouldn't spend over $500 on a casual boot. youre hitting diminishing returns fast.

if you spend over 500 on boots, than on something classic like Crockett & jones.

Most of them are Italian and British, obviously. Contrary to what people would assume, all of the Italian brands listed use the Goodyear Welt.
Fracap is one of the best not only because one of their pairs can last a lifetime, but also because they look unique and have a very distinct style.
This is an extremely succint list. I don't know about French boots, for example. If you're really into this do your own research.

I've taken my French Mle 1965 back and forth multiple times to a cobbler to try solve a loud squeeking sound in the sole.

At this point only option feels like resole( the rubber is hard anyway) which costs like 150€

Worth the investment? They are 59 year old boots, but the quality of the leather is comparable to something that would cost 500 quid these days, and these are my only formal boot, and I'd end up paying 150 or more for decent alternative brown boots anyway.

What do you think

Poor quality aside, it's a low status goyslop boot. Imagine being so poor that you can't muster up an extra hundred or two for a boot that's made in a first world country and contributes to first world economies. If you don't respect yourself, why should anyone else?

Shilouette on Iron Rangers is gonna be pretty close to what you're wearing, so I'd consider blacksmiths instead. Or you could try the new beckmans if you're willing to spend more. But since you're actually going to a physical store, just try everything that cayches your eye and see which one you like the most. Do not hesitate to try different colors either.
>>
>>18298487
Ropetard, you've been asking the same question over and over for years and get the same answers. I don't know why you expect a different answear for the same question.
And in the rare occasion someone comes up with an acceptable suggestion, you shoot it down because of some autistic non-issue.
At this point you should have saved enough for 1k boots. Yet here you are at it again.
