I recently purchased two HMT (Hindustan Machine Tools) mechanical watches and have closely examined them.The back is odd on one because it appears to be a metal alloy case which has a stainless steel plate on the back of itself instead of simply making the whole back of stainless steel but either way the backs are decent.The size of the watches is smaller than what men wear today but they are 50 years old so this is simply a difference in tastes and it still looks like it fits my wrist of a size 36mm including the crown.The faces are attractive and one has Indian numerals which makes it unique and a talking piece. No problems of readability.The main downside which almost renders the watch unusable is the power store. I tested both watches and have found that they ended far too quickly with one lasting for four hours and the other for three and a half hours. Compared to my used Seiko which was just 30% more expensive than these watches which lasts around 40 hours on one charge this is shocking. And this is with these watches being serviced before shipping.So from my experience while the HMT mechanical watches look good and are unique for being manufactured wholly in India I cannot recommend them from my own experience due to the lack of power storage.
