Is there a watch that matches this car's style?
Like, something with the same color green, maybe some chrome?
It's hard to tell from the pic, but the interior is like, faded pine green.
>>
>>18308706
Can't really get a good read on that colour, what about something like the seiko alpinist?

That's fair. There are a lot of aftermarket strap options for the sarb017/sbp121, but otherwise yeah they mostly all come on leather.
There's also the SPB155 (left one in the pic) that comes on a bracelet, and has a bit of texture on the dial that might match that interior a bit better.
>>
Thin automatic watches? I don't require many complications, just want something manual that is sub 10mm. Also less than 40mm wide, no dinner plates please.

Could a 5 digit GMT be your only watch?
>>
>>18308765
No. Because 2 reasons mainly:

1.- When you send it in for service, you need another watch for a while.

2.- Bad for sports and other activities. Heavy, could be damaged, lacks functionality, etc.

At the very least you need it and some sort of gshock-ish thing.
>>
>>18308765
I'd have something extra for very formal events, but otherwise sure. I mostly wear a 4 digit GMT all day no problem. And it's handy for keeping up with timezones.
>>
>>18308763
Fir example: This can be a "only watch". Not great functionality for sports but at least its light and wont be damaged easy and even if it is, is no su much drama. And doesnt need servicing.

We've seen your watch at least 1000 times but, I took the time to think about it in a more objective manner and my conclusion is that; people don't actually realise what they're seeing here.
It is an anomaly in the watch world. I won't say that it is the best value for money that you can get, because sadly this term has also been dragged through the ground and it has lost its meaning, and yet if you think about it, the fact that you can get this watch below 2000$ does not make sense.
First of all, you get the, possibly, most accurate autonomous watch on the planet, no GPS gimmicks, no radio controll no internet whatever, it's just you, in the woods, knowing the atomic time without big tech and or the government being able to track you. On top of that, you literally have a feature that is usually reserved for much, Much more expensive watches- the perpetual calendar.
Technicalities and specs aside, what do you get on the finishing part? It is as good as a grand seiko in terms of Hands and Marker finishing- Spotless, Sharp and no impurities or rough edges to be found. But what does GS-Level mean? Well it literally means that your Markers and Hands do have, on a macro level, better finished hands than 5 Digit Swiss Watches. It doesn't matter if this fact makes you angry or triggered or in doubt, but it is a Fact. The dial itself, the way they did the perception of depth, shouldn't work but it does and youc an even see the sunburst effect too.
Okay so what about exclusivity? Well what defines exclusivity?
>Low production
Check
>Locked behind the country of origin
Check
>Rare limited edition on top of said rarity to begin with
Check
So what about the case?Well it is not zaratsu but it still shouldn't be as good as it is. It is almost distortion free.
But is it all perfect? I don't think so, no. It is too thick, the movement is ugly and the bracelet is below the standards that the dial and tech have set. But again,it's 2000$
>>
>>18308772

I think I have a memory problem. I had some issues with my boss at work because I didn't remember something and he was pissed off, it annoyed me but I figured whatever. So I started shopping on amazon for leather straps because I was bored with wearing rubber straps to work and wanted to see what leather was like, I was thinking about buying a 1 piece leather nato style strap and maybe some cheap 2 piece leather straps specifically to wear to work on my work watches so they couldn't be too expensive. Went to the store and bought some stuff to cook for dinner. Then when I got home I found I already had a bunch of the food that I bought. Then I went to look through some of my watch stuff to try to see what other straps I had in a box where I put extra straps in and I found a bunch of the straps that I put in my cart on Amazon this morning. I already ordered them at some point. It made me think of all the time I lose figuring out where I misplaced my water flask and how all the days run together, I thought maybe I was just tired and working too hard on nights, stuck alone on long shifts where other people called out and I had to try to pull extra weight and get through it, but now I'm scared I might have a brain tumor or something. I don't know what to do.

That's very interesting anon. I hope you wear it for many years to come. Was your dad a member of the military or police/internal security? I hear that they were very popular, almost meme status among those fields in the 90s/early 2000s.
>>
Soiko victim here with a question. The memesters say the crafter blue straps and the uncle seiko straps mog the OEM straps but I have found the OEM silicone to be one of the most comfortable straps I've ever had. I haven't used my aftermarket rubber on my diver for a few years now. In the same vein everyone says the bracelet on the grand seikos are shit but I've always been quite happy with mine.

With that said I kind of want a bracelet for my diver now, but I'm afraid the meme bracelets from the internet (like strapcode) are going to be much shittier than promised. Anyone have an opinion on this? I don't desperately need another bracelet but I also don't need another watch and my consoom impulse needs to be fed with something. A bracelet is cheaper than some alternatives.

found out UMF Ruhla is reviving the old east german "Ruhla Digital" jumping hour watch from the 70s.
it's not a direct reissue as the original was a cheap-as-can-be thing, with plastic crystal, alloy case and an inaccurate pin and collar type movement that could easily be a couple minutes off daily and was the butt of many jokes back in the day.
this one is gonna be a better, sapphire crystal (also on the exhibition caseback), steel case and some sort of miyota movement modified for the jumping hour function and with a custom rotor. bit bigger too (41mm)

Can someone recommend me a watch that is "value" or "bang for your buck". Looking for a stainless steel, classic dimensions 36-38mm.

With every watch brand outsourcing shit to china, thailand etc

I don't wanna pay a premium for basically the same gook made watch, made with some tiny gook hands, their tiny onions smelling gook hands.

CBA spending money a expensive, onions smelling watch, made in the same gook factory all other watches are made.

It's kind of interesting that they put drilled lug holes on this high polish dress watch. Usually you see that on tool watches for easy strap and bracelet changes. How often are you going to want to change your strap on your high end luxury dress watch, wouldn't it be kind of a failing of the manufacturer if they gave you a strap you didn't enjoy wearing at that price point? And if you slip with your tool you'll scratch the visible outer surface of the polished lugs.

I'm considering one of these in 38mm. The alternative would be a Cartier tank must. Would I be making a mistake on the Longines? The Cartier is quartz and also more expensive. >>18309690
Calatrava looks like a basic watch.
>>
>>18309693
Because that's the fucking point of the watch.
>>
>>18309687
This. Because men don't dress by traditional codes anymore the "daily" watch has kind of been killed.
To the majority of the watch-buying public anything that's not obviously a sports watch must therefore be a dress watch.
"Dress watches" like the 41mm IWC Portugieser or the 40mm JLC Master Geographic.
>>
>>18309690
The indexes of the vintage Conquest make it a pretty unique watch.
>>
>>18309693
>>18309701
My point was that that Longines is indeed a dress watch, since it has the same basic design language as a Calatrava.
>>

We were talking about a 38mm Longines: >>18309410

Fair enough, but with a date on it it's more of an everyday watch. 100% if the case is steel.
>>
>>18309687
The placement of that date window is disgusting.
>>18309711
The Longines has a central second hand and a date window. The architecture of its movement is much more complex and modern (and reminiscent of sports watches) than the Calatrava. The Longines is closer to a Datejust while the Calatrava is closer to a Tank.

I didn't post that picture for the typical date window autist to pop up and play his role. I also don't like it, but there are variations of the Conquest without the date window and that is not the point anyway.
