Well yes and no. There are things that justify the prices of luxury items, especially in the watch world. Mainly the time it takes to make the finished product by hand. An Atelier Wen would cost multiple times as much if it were to be finished in Switzerland. A chinese watchmakers' loan is miniscule compared to a swiss one. As we know, that's the loophole used in the "swiss made" label to get that 60%

Obviously they ["justifiable" expensive watches] are still massively overpriced, but at least it's not a sweater made in cambodia that costs 3$ to produce yet sells for 600$
>>

But why Tudor and not wait/save up a bit longer for a Rolex?
>>
>>18353626

Tudor is legitimately doing stuff Rolex isn't doing. They have their own strengths and reasons for buying them.

>>18353681
Classic submariner proportions. If you want vintage submariner features with aluminum bezels and no crown guards and smaller dimensions and you don't want to put up with the fuckery and costs of shopping around for decent vintage examples Tudor offers good options where modern Rolex won't.

Sometimes I wish I remained blissfully ignorant to the dirt of the watch industry and how everything is a marketing scam. Zero transparency, half truths, outright lies, overpriced BS, nothing being authentic anymore.
I just want to think that my PRX is actually swiss and made with care and love... I don't want my 3000$ watch to be outclassed in finishing by a 200$ chinese shitter....
>>
>>18353771
Meh, that date... I really like that limited edition, the colorway is great.

The Cubitus, really, is a test. It's here to check your design litteracy. To a simpleton, it's just a big ugly square that kinda looks like a Nautilus (the only Patek he knows).
To the horologically educated, the multireferencial intertext of the watch is overwhelming and yet another proof of the genevoise maison. The curvature of the vertical edges is alchemical on several layers (squared circle, transformative Work of a prime element into its sublimized form and elevation, mutual acclimatation of opposites further seen in metal textures, the list could go on) ; the sizing is strict numerology (45 rpm, another circular reference ; hexagonal number pointing to the elegance in the simplicity of the square compared to the OTHER geometric watch with hexagons ; 45 in the enneagram points to the strength of individuality that will generate envy among those on the outside [non-owners])

Yo, lemme break it down real quick: y’all been showin’ off dis watch like a zillion times, but I had to peep it myself, nahmsayin’? Verdict? Most y’all don’t even know wtf y’all lookin’ at, fr.

Dis ain’t no basic TikTok clock, nah, dis some straight-up time sorcery. Like, no cap, coppin’ dis for less than 2 bands? Dat’s clown behavior.

Bruh, dis thing runnin’ on atomic wizardry or sum. No GPS, no Wi-Fi, no Bluetooth—none of dat goofy shiii—just you and dis lil time god. Plus, it got a calendar dat NEVER dies. Like, who even do dat? Big money vibes only, senpai.

Now da drip: dem hands n’ markers? Mad crispy, like they could slice butter on a cold day. Grand Seiko vibes, but broke-boy friendly. Dey clownin’ on Swiss watches costin’ 10 racks, easy. Stay salty, idc. And da dial? OMG, dat shiii hittin’ different. Layers on layers, shiny asf, straight .

Rare af? Hell yeah. Peep da fax:

Hard af to find? Bet.

Only sold in, like, 2 spots? Fax.

Special edition? Duh, big fax.

Da case? Nah, it ain’t dat Zaratsu flex or whateva, but still lookin’ clean asf for da price.

But lemme keep it 100: it ain’t perfect. Dis thing mad thicc, da movement mid af, and da bracelet? Straight cheeks compared to da dial. But for 2 bands? Stop playin’.

TL;DR: Dis watch bussin’ for da low-low. Big fax, stay pressed.

For me, and many other enlightened individuals, perfection is The Citizen Chronomaster.
It is here to remind you just how much value and finesse you can get with your money. To the laymen it is completely invisible and non existent. “Citizen? Yeah, you can buy that at the mall.” No, not this one. This one is locked behind its country of origin, a JDM only model. See, Japan is not sending its best when they fill the shelves on your mall, the best, they keep for themselves. To even know this anomaly exists you’d have to be one of the most accomplished watch enthusiasts on the planet.
Simply put, this timepiece exists to show what they are all about. It is one of the most accurate stand-alone watches in the world (the more accurate being another Citizen), it has a thermally compensated, fully jeweled high precision, high accuracy, shock resistant, hand position correcting quartz movement fully sealed in 100m water resistant case. It is powered by a solar cel that will keep this timepiece going for at least 15 years without the need to open up the case. To top it off the movement has a perpetual calendar which makes this watch one of the few true JDM GADA grails.
All this cutting edge horological technology is encased in a duratect coated stainless steel case paired with a double anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal and a oyster style (the longest lasting) bracelet.
As a final blow to any other watch on the planet this piece comes with a world class zaratsu style finishing, putting ALL other timepieces in its price category to shame. It even is JIS-1 anti-magnetic resistant.
It truly is the best watch ever made, and it can be had for under 2000 €. You may not like it, but this is what peak true horology looks like.

I actually like the Tudor more but as a white man (Aryan (Germanic)) I cannot be seen wearing the entry level of anything. If Tudor was at least an independent brand like Omega I suppose I could buy one. But as it stands me, a white man, cannot wear this cheap watch, no matter its merits of Rolex-and they are numerous, personal taste aside.
Had they kept the rose I guess I could CBT myself into buying one, I would smash my BW, my massive Aryan, my vandal arabicaussy destroy C(OCK) with a huge stone and say: that's it, I'm buying a Tudor, I just love the stamped on Tudor rose, that's a nod to history I like, something actually meaningful compared to the generic Rolex crown dazzling Chinks (what is it? a coronet? does it denote a marquis or a baron? then how come it's so cheap even a knight could afford such a watch)
BUT alas! every Tudor is graced by a boring Shield

before I remark about your failed HRT and the insufficient amounts of estrogen you have injected into your born-as-and-forever-will-be male body I need to tell you that you should not wear ANY watch over 32mm. I understand why such a wristless creature would transition in the first place, but why bulge out into the world with that fat, massive, masculine watch on such weak wrists?
Does cutting them deform the bone?

I like collecting watches, but, as many before me, I reached the conclusion that I don't want to regularly wear more than three watches. In fact, I end up wearing pic related for the vast majority of the year. So much so that other watches feel "off" to me. When I hear or read or think "watch", I associate it with the feeling of the white birch. It's probably a sign of me having found what I'm looking for in life and have no need to look no further.
I still enjoy reading and talking about watches, about innovations or clever designs, but I stopped thinking of acquiring another one.
Friends of mine have done kinda the same. One is wearing his Tank and Santos back to back while he owns at least 30 watches in his collection, another one is wearing exclusively his orient, and I haven't see another friend of mine wear anything but his panerai carbon for at least 6 months now.
Is that what "exiting the game" feels like?
I only wear my moser on special occasions and my tudor when I'm doing rough things like mountain hikes or sports.

I have this watch and honestly it is the best watch ever made.

>438 times better than COSC performance
>Perpetual calendar
>Deadbeat seconds
>7 months power reserve

Let me guess, you need more?
The high accuracy thermally compensated quartz movement keeps it on the EXACT time pretty much always. plus it has a perpetual calendar that you'll never have to set again.
It also comes very nicely packaged with a mixed zaratzu polished and brushed case with a super comfy and solid bracelet. The double coated antireflective sapphire crystal is so clear you don't even realize it's there.
Anons seethe at it though, must mean I'm doing something right.

Not after they've been purchased and dinged up.

But let's humor Whoretadello.
>Grand Seiko SLGA009
Used on C24, between 6 and 6.2k USD. His is in horrifically beat up condition and couldn't sell for 4k at this point, but we'll ignore that.
>Tudor Black Bay Ceramic
Used on C24, between 2.9k and 3.1k USD
>Moser Pioneer 40mm
Used on C24, between 9.7k and 12.3k USD

(This does not include the laughably high prices for watches that will never sell, like the guy who thinks he can sell a used Tudor BB Ceramic for 4.8k USD)

Sum that all up and it's between 18.6 and 21.6k USD.

Where's the remaining 8.4k to get to 30k?

Is it relatively safe trying to buy a 70's tank on chrono24? I'd normally be worried about fakes, but I'm after a very specific reference and I'm hoping a vintage watch is less likely to be a fake in this context.
>>
>>18357672
A vintage Cartier might not be an out and out fake, but it definitely could be a franken. That's extremely common among vintage watches, since parts are easy to come by.
A spare case and dial from someone's service pile, and movement stripped out from a worthless watch can be quickly bodged together into a brand new watch.

Ask as many questions as you want from the seller, get pictures of the movement, etc. If he acts dodgy in the slightest, walk away.

I'd say it's an anomaly in the watch wor-
No jokes aside, think about it. You buy it, set it once and never have to think about it again for 20 years. In a "Johatsu" scenario, it will be one of the very few items that you will be taking with you. Inawoods, on an island, mountains etc. no GPS, no radio, no Bluetooth just God's passing of time, naturally. Kept alive by the power of the sun. And 10 years later, without setting it once, you will STILL have the correct time AND date because it got a perpetual calendar (which is normally reserved only for watches costing at least 5 times as much).
So how is it not the best watch of all time? I don't know. And for ¥300K NEW? it's disgusting, simply disgusting that we don't talk about this watch more often.
Pic related, while keeping great time too, would break after cutting down just one tree.

If you got crooked teeth? Fixable.

Bad chin? Floppy ears? Etc. ALL fixable.
But being short? Well... It really is unfair and I don't wish this to anyone in my life. But from my experience so far, not a single manlet, Ever, did Not have an inferiority complex or anger towards society. They are all completely self aware of that fact, and it hurts. I was a very late bloomer so trust me, I know, it hurts beyond belief.

It's true that design wise it doesn't get much better than your Armani, I give you that, but going digital..? What about AnaDigi? 50/50
>>
>>18358278
It's truly a strategy for my professional image. I cannot go into detail. I also think digital watches are an insult to the sun as they are too ugly to see the light of day. At least that is how they compare to a nice analog.

But I am quite impressed with features such as solar, radio, perp cal and also cheap

So yes

>Bald? By now, easily fixable.
I wish.........

Why are all these watches round? It's the 20th century already, we invented the square.

Name 3 square watches that aren't Cartier or Jackie Chan

I have no intention of buying a Rolex. Are people at official Rolex stores fun to talk to?
>>
>>18358366
...What sort of conversation do you plan to have?
>>
>>18358368
I dunno. Watches, horology, history of watches, different styles and how they evolved, the things people do to make sure they get a watch.
It's by a train station so I find myself killing time around it a lot but I've never gone inside. I think the whole buttering them up for "the call" is a bit demeaning and I don't want to subject myself to that for some jewelry but they must be at least a little interesting to talk to.
>>
>>18358369
If it's a slow time of day for them, maybe they'd talk to you about watches and the industry. But is your plan to pretend you want to buy a watch? That doesn't seem fun and they'll sense you're not serious.
>>
>>18358370
Absolutely not. I just want to go in and shoot the shit if I have a moment by the store. I did that at a wood block art gallery and enjoyed it so I wanna see if I can have more fun conversations at other shops.
I'd be down to buy one if it wasn't such a process, but just from hearing about it, it sounds icky and bootlicky.

Is this AI or some turbo autist?
>>
>>18358369
Nigga you for real?
The sales reps just want to sell you a watch, they don't care about the history or horology other than to appear knowledgeable on the surface level.
If you're not looking to buy or to get wait listed they'll just escort you out the store.
>>
>>18358375
It surprised me too how little the sales people actually know about watches. It's not only surface level, it's even less than that.

If you aren't intending to buy a Rolex but still want to talk to people at the AD... Idk go in there and ask to be put on the list for some sort of unobtainium Rolex like a rainbow one or something.
>>
>>18358386
I'd be terrified that they'd have one of those available.

Just go in and tell them straight that you like watches and have some time to spare waiting for a train and see where that takes you.

I have a black face 5600 variant and the screen is sometimes unreadable. I have to angle it from a light souce to read the time, or activate the lcd light. check a gshock with MIP screen for black face or just get a regular white face.
