I'm wearing Hacivat now bros. It's great. Tomorrow, I will probably wear more Hacivat to work, or possibly Encre Noire.

>>18367040Ordering 20x2ml replicas of real frags for 20 euro to find out wich I would roughly like?
>>18367076it's okay, i guessi1ve done that with Eclat once and while the testers were mostly good, most of their full bottles were subpar (to say the least)
>>18367077dupes are almost always shit and way different than the real frags unless it's dupes of 70s/80s stuff that have been made worse through reformulation. milton lloyd makes some that are supposedly better than the real modern day versions but I wouldn't even bother with anything except of milton lloyd of that walmart "classic match" dupes of drakkar noir and stuff like that. dupes of anything remotely modern is going to be garbage.
>>18367071SOTD L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme
I bought Bleu de Chanel
>buy Fahrenheit tester since fragcom claims that the post-2020 reformulation is close to the original >get soapy florals with a faint leather>no gasoline accord>weak longevity and projection Did I get baited or what?
>>18367106My bottle of Fahrenheit is crazy strong(batch around 2022)
>>18367106it will get stronger with maceration. the decant I got 5 years ago smelled like straight gas and the full bottle I got last year smells the same. smelled weak when I first got it though.
>>18367106>get soapy florals with a faint leatherthat's basically what it smells likesome people seem to not get the phantom gasoline accord, for others it's overpowering
Two thirds of the designerslop I try smells the same. The same ambroxan 12-in-1 discount shower gel accord in men's frags with a bit of pepper here, vetiver there, maybe a touch of ever so slightly indolic white flowers if we're daring, the same vanilla-heavy sweet amber accord in women's frags with a hint of white and yellow flowers here, a pinch of mature aldehydes or classic rose there, even a hint of fruit in some cases.Niche frags might be overpriced and bad smelling at times, but at least they have some character.
>>18367076If they're replicas of real frags you should rather go to a sephora or some such store and try the originals out, then you can figure out what you generally like and then if you won't pay for the legit stuff you can try replicas of only the stuff you're interested in.Contrarily to what >>18367083 posted there's plenty of good replicas, though it's always difficult to say for sure whether a specific replica is good with people on one side saying all replicas are shit and people on the other side saying "it's 95% the same" about everything, so you should definitely try the actual thing you're going to be buying a full bottle of, be it an original frag or a replica.

Any advice for a 24 year old guy who's never worn cologne? Looking for something I can wear to bars and possibly at work (laid back tech job). Don't need anything too classy, but am interested in trying lots of different scents, including female-oriented ones.I tried picrel a few days ago and liked how it mixed with my scent, but I have nothing to compare it to. Going to a local Perfumania with a friend today, are their sample packs any good?
>>18367295D&G The One EDP could be a good start. It's simultaneously a good office and date night scent. Not super overpowering, but very nice when close to someone.
>>18367295>>18367295No, it's sweetslopGet Kouros, Antaeus, Fahrenheit or Terre d'Hermes
Which one
>>18367213>at timesAt times they're overpriced and bad smelling, but many times they're quite wearable on top of being a lot more interesting than the usual designerslop.I don't like Aventus very much but that's wearable and it was pretty unusual before it became this popular and everyone and their aunt started wearing clones of it.Reflection Man, Enclave, Ichnusa, Fat Electrician, Cocaine... all of that's perfectly wearable.>>18367191I agree, Avignon is the frag with the highest mix of incense and wearability. The best is obviously subjective because there are plenty of great quality incense frags, each with its different qualities.>>18367263>but what about masstigeThis has nothing to do with what I've posted.
>>18367191Encre Noire A'Lextreme
>>18367361They're both awful.

>>18367320>>18367323I'll look into these, thanks. Can you define sweetslop? I may want something sweeter for the Minnesota winter but idk how sweet
>>18367440Sweetslop = frags loaded with vanilla and/or overly sweet fruit notes.
>sotdsmells exactly how I imagine its namesake pastry would smell like, great longevity (9 hours and going strong) is a plus
>>18367440please ignore this guy unless you're just buying samples. they're fine to try if you're just starting to explore fragrances, but some of the posters here have autism and meme the same shit no matter who asks.
>>18367440ignore the guy unless you want to smell like an old man. terre d'hermes is fine though
>>18367323>Kouros, Antaeus, Fahrenheit or Terre d'HermesAll garbage
Kouros smells like the end of my cock after I've shagged the missus up her arsehole.
>>18367498Why are you sniffing your cock?
>>18367497>t. noselet>>18367498that's kinda based ngl but you should stop smelling your own cock after anal, it's not healthy desu>>18367440imo you should simply choose a frag you like at the local dept.store and either work it out from there or just use that and that's it
>>18367497Nah, they are good.>>18367295If you want a good all-around fragnance then Bois Imperiale by Essential Parfums. My advice is to find interesting scents and buy samples. And don't just smell a sample on paper and throw it away. Even if you like or dislike it on paper initially-you might change your mind later. And also smells might develop a lot over time. Something you think smell awful the first 10 minutes might become your favourite on the drawdown. Also if you sample and wear a whole day will give you an idea how long it lasts. Also it might last different on clothes than on skin and might smell different as well. Two fragnances that is advertised to females that I wear and like is Tom Ford's Black Orchid. And you should also try YSL Black Opium Illicit Green. I think they are both wearable.
>>18367475>>18367480>>18367506Well yeah I'm not gonna buy a whole bottle without sampling first, but I just need a little advice on where to start. I'm very cost-sensitive so I'm planning on going through a lengthy process of smelling it on paper, then on myself, then buying a small sample to wear over a week or two. Glad to hear some dissenting opinions though.>>18367542Thanks, this is very helpful. Do fragrances last long enough on paper that I should be bringing blotters home with me? Also if I end up never liking the smell on paper, what are the chances I'll like it if applied to my skin?
ok, when are we getting the Air France Sport flanker?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0NoRCRrkVE
>>18367542I also wear Black Orchid. It's really nice.>>18367575Yes. I've had test cards hold scent for weeks in my car during winters. They obviously don't all last that long, for example Eau Sauvage EDT lasted less than 2 days on paper in my car. It's a good and free way to refer back to scents you're interested in though.
>>18367295montblanc explorer
>>18367149The thing is I would have to travel to another town for at least like 2 hours to test some frags and even then, Im very indecisive so I would need to travel multiple times
>>18367040There was some dude in a store who had a really good fragrance. It smelled like your regular masculine fragrance but it smelled so good I just had to keep inhaling it. Same with other people. Now I have no idea what it was but do you know any that smell so good? Like you could take a deep breath and it didnt smell even slightly bad. It also covered the whole room
>>18367642dior homme intenseyou are welcome(you're probably gay tho)
>>18367454>anon has never eaten a st. honoréWhat the hell are you waiting for?Go somewhere and buy a slice, it's just going to cost you the price of a slice of cake, and the experience is priceless.
Was Luca Turin right about Platinum Egoiste and Allure Homme?
>>18367575>Do fragrances last long enough on paper that I should be bringing blotters home with me?Yes, they should last for a day on paper at least. But spray on skin too, it's more accurate to how it will smell on you
>>18367642>Like you could take a deep breath and it didnt smell even slightly bad. It also covered the whole roomCould have been Bois Imperial, it has that property. More likely if you live in central-easter Europe as it's very popular hereAlso popular is Shaghaf Oud, I smelled it again today
>>18367719Allure Homme yes, Platinum Egoiste is quite nice to me, but probably seemed bland at the time. Considering it was basically a higher end take on stuff like CK Eternity for Men
>>18367575If you don't like it at all on paper at any point then I don't think you would like it on skin. There are enough scents around so you don't need to spend time on that. But there are scents that I thought was "meh" and then later came back and fell in love with. So having samples and not just papers is not a bad idea. At least look up stores that sell decants and samples. Some stores also love giving out samples. They are great stores.
>>18367642Could be many. The other guy mentioning bois Imperial is a good suggestion. But it would be more useful if you could remember some note or something. Was it sweet, or citrusy? Pineapple?
>>18367719Who cares? Try forming your own opinions for a change.
>>18367743Don't do this
This is nice stuff. Very similar to Oud Malaki withm stronger spice notes and no oud. I think it has somewhat better quality materials than the Chopard. I'd like to compare this with the current formulation of Égoïste.
The new AdG Elixir has violet leaf… my curiosity is piqued.
>>18367725>>18367743The last good fragrance Polge created was Egoiste.
>>18367810and even that was garbage if we're being honest
>>18367440Don't bother with Kouros. It's a really old scent that literally smells like a urinal. The Bois Imperial rec is legit, though. It's basically thai basil and akigalawood, so slightly sweet and slightly woody. Very even and balanced, but with good longevity.
>>18367719>Platinum Egoisteprobably not>Allure Hommeyes, by all means>>18367928>Don't bother with Kouros. It's a really old scent that literally smells like a urinal.>t. noselet
>>18367788I agree, it's very nice and does remind me of oud malaki. Similar use of spices, sale perfumer. More unique as it doesn't use the oud and tobacco trope, ot's harder to pin down

How do you even know if you like the smell of a fragrance? It almost all just smells like cologne.
May indulge and get a discovery set, thinking either the latest Balmain, or Francesca Bianchi
>>18368285if you like the smell of something, you shouldn't have to think about it this much>It almost all just smells like cologne.you're probably noticing a similarity in the fragrances that you smelled because they're all following a similar trend and trying to appeal to what's popular. but literally smell more. and then smell more. you learn to identify specific notes. you will find that you like the smell of some things, and you hate the smell of other things. you also get to a point where you have a rough idea of what something will smell like based on the structure/notes listed. scents are like colors. you might have just been smelling blue.
>>18367723Yes Im exactly in central east europe. I will check it out>>18367729Its really hard to explain since Im not into fragrances. Im sure it wasnt sweet at all. >>18368350you learned something valuable from this.1. buying bottles of something you haven't smelled is fucking stupid (unless you are very experienced)2. you may not like heavily vetiver-forward fragrances (i don't like encre noire either, but i like plenty of fragrances that have vetiver in the base. tom ford grey vetiver is a smooth and soapy use of the note and feels a million miles away from encre noire.)3. you may not be into classics from the 80s and earlier (i see oakmoss+carnation/geranium listed and i'm 90% sure i'm never wearing it. it can still be fun to explore these things to understand them though, and your taste might change if you decide to make a hobby of this. or you can just do cocaine instead, it's probably a cheaper way to have fun with your nose)

I'll probably never try Davidhasselhoff Cool Water because the name is corny.
>>18368902And the name isn't even the worst thing about it
Just received 3 frags in the mailGuerlain L'Homme Idéal Extrême edpTom Ford Grey Vietiver edpEncre Noire(yeah I fell for the meme)The Guerlain might be the best thing I own for cool weather. There's a fruity plum not that is subtle under the spiciness of pink pepper. I'm pulling out cinnamon and tobacco that balance each other out, this shit fucking slaps.Excited to wear this to work tomorrow.Tom Ford is similar to TDH Vetiver but not soured oranges, stout and masculine vetiver with some mild citrus Encre Noire smells like a skin scent after the Tom Ford>>18368902the water in Flint Michigan has stronger sillage
>Aventus + Silver Mountain Water - Creed>Art of Arabia I + Khamrah + Atlas + Qaed al Fursan - Lattafa>Y - YSL>Hawas >Invictus Aqua >Acqua di Gio Profundo>Louis Vuitton Imagination Gonna head to Sephora and look for some of these or order samples if I can’t test them. I know nothing about fragrances but I like aquatic, fresh, clean, and fruity I think. I was gifted Aqua Dubai by Al Haramain, a supposed clone of Imagination, and I’d like to see what the real thing smells like. I smelled a very nice scent 3 years ago and I think it might have been Imagination but I’m not sure. If it is, I’ll easily pay $330 for it
>paying 330 for a citrus freshie
luca's new email said tommy girl:is a good masculine fragranceturns to shit after a few years in the bottleis going to have to be reformulated because ifra just banned bourgeonalso, are YOU picking up a bottle of this cheap MALE floral? are YOU a tommy girl?
>>18369004always do the opposite of what he says
>>18368996you probably haven’t even smelled it
Imagination is around £150 over here, similar to a lot of Tom Ford or Chanel. Never tried it though so can't say if it's worth that.
>fragrance i want was a limited release>discontinued nearly a decade>one seller on ebay>tester bottle>located in: saudi arabia>$300>$40 shipping
>>18369009i have, it's nothing special
SOTD: Ombre Nomad. 4 sprays. Got fragmogged by a friend of mine who was wearing the Kenzo EDP I gifted him. Fml.
YOU FUCKING RETARDS STOP FALLING FOR THE ENCRE NOIRE MEME. IT IS A MEME. Rather get Encre Noire Spor and A'lextreme.
What does he wear, /frag/?

Is Turin a fraud?
>>18368609Elixir smells good but its not really an office/school fragrance
>>18369030I thought that too when I first got all 3. later, I realized the og was the best.
Is AdP Colonia a bit redundant if I already have Eau Sauvage? I only have a few fragrances in total.
Thoughts on black aoud?
>>18369102if you want to limit your collection then yeah, it is a bit redundant
>>18369117thanks
>>18369102In the sense they are both citrus aromatics, but they don't smell very similar at all. AdP Colonia is similar to Eau de Guerlain.
>>18369090He's an old man with a huge ego.
>>18369123Thanks. Yeah I'm looking at this pretty broadly. I'm not looking to accumulate two to three variations per sub-family if one will fulfill its purpose.
>>18369124a combination that punishes one's patience
>>18369125Well, then you have the best one.
>>18368381You didn't like any of those classics? Some of the most crowd pleasing scents in human history? You must have a weird taste, I'm interested in seeing what someone like you DO like.>>18368442I can't believe someone else already answered comme de garcons 71. I had to do a double take, but that would be my answer as well.>>18368519Pretiosum Vetiverum>>18368599Montale black aoud is really different from the rest. It is dark and oud-forward.>>18369104You'll smell like Laurence of Arabia. You should sample it first. It has some similarities to Tom Ford's Oud Wood. In the sense that it is equally as dark and has that prominent oud.
>>18369135>You didn't like any of those classics?Cool water reminds me of vodka, drakkar noir smells like shaving cream, encre noire is cool but cant smell it after a short while
>>18369127I've been really enjoying sampling, reading the archive, and newfag charts.
Masculine rose fragrances? Under 150 euro ideally. Something dark and loud that fills the room but not too aggressive and has depth
>>18369145Nicolai Rose Oud
>>18369145>dark, loud, under €150AntaeusThough you might enjoy The Spice Must Flow, which is not as stinky and earthy, and Portrait of a Lady, which is more about the rose and is certainly dark, if a bit soapy.
>>18369145Antaeus
>>18369145Don't listen to the people shilling grandpa shit like Antaeus. Get Toy Boy or Hermann a mes Cotes
>>18369147Super feminine and old ladyish
>>18369153>>18369145try the Etat Libre d'Orange catalogue in general, they have so many masculine fragrances with rose. some are total room-fillers like Hermann or Rien (that one is agressive though)
>>18369157to my nose it isn't THOUGH
>>18369145Montale black aoud
>>18369030Extreme is a really nice incense frag.
>>18369145For me, still Rose 31, but it's expensive like all most of the good ones. La fille de Berlin is nice as well and cheap at discounters.
>>18369172>tfw we've reached the point where Serge Lutens is considered "cheapies"the nicheflation has to stop. can't wait for the fragrance market to crash when people realise the emperor has no clothes and perfume prices are 99% mark up. every new no substance, all marketing "luxury" brand like Mindgames is bringing us closer to the crash, the bubble can't last forever
>>18367040Who else uses Brut?
>>18369174La fille de Berlin costs €50/50ml at discounters in the EU. That's cheaper than most designers.
>>18368442Jo Malone french lime blossom
>>18369165I completely forgot it had rose. But you're right. It is definitely dark and masculine rose exactly what >>18369145 asks for. I only remember the oud note, but I'm smelling my sample again and there is definitely plenty of rose. I decided to wear it today. The rose is dark, almost bitter because of the woods. Definitely masculine would feel strange if a girl wore this. SOTD: montale Black Aoud
Any reccs that smell like a wet temperate forest? Is Margiela soul of the forest any good?
>>18369175I do from time to time.

What are the most indolic white and/or yellow flower frags?I'm looking for heady stuff.
I might have allergies to some substances in perfumes. For 3 years now (weirdly once I started using more colognes) I experience respiratory issues like itchy eyes, sneezing and sometimes problems with breathing. Yesterday I tested myself for allergies and it came out I am allergic to cats but there's no cats around me so yeah. Are there any high quality fragrances I could be less allergic to? Which substances am I allergic to, maybe some synthetic molecules?
haha, /ourguy/ Luca Turin is shitting on MFK in his latest blogpost
How does Herbes Vives compare to the H24 edp?
>>183692001+1 Folia by NEZ. Although they don't make it anymore. But I would look for a note called "Geosim" which is literally a type of chemical that we can smell when rain falls on something dry. I'm looking through other fragnances on Fragnatica with the note, but I haven't tried any of those.I haven't tried the margiela you mentioned either. But "Magic Mushroom" by bohoboco smells like a wet mossy temperate forest. Although it is the forest in Alice in Wonderland.
Trying to gradually change my collection over from designer to niche with similar/better frags. Is Mousse Illumine a good replacement for Polo?
>>18369267Herbes is more fresh and fruity. I would say it's like H24 mixed with something from the Jardin line. More refreshing and summery and not as metallic.they're both good
>>18369250you could be allergic to oakmossnot sure what the other common allergens in perfumes are, stuff is pretty controlled nowadays
>>18369264Based, MFK is overpriced generic trash anyway. Designer-quality fragrances for luxury-tier niche prices.
>>18369294No, Mousse Illuminee doesn't smell like Polo Green despite what some might say.
>>18369267They're both equally bad
r8/h8
>>18369333checked, but>Vetiver Parfumngmi
>>18369333l'orealsloparab trash (get the original)ok
>>18369333>Y EdP Showergel but chicks like it. >Vetiver ParfumNah get the EdT bro.
polo green gave me a headache a year ago. wear it again, smells great, no headache, just pure greeny goodness. how come?
>>18369359>pure greeny goodness10 % green then in turns into oldschool spicy tobacco, similar to original Aramis.
>>18369359You were probably gonna have a headache that day anyway and just wrongly attributed it to Polo Green. Or your nose just became more acclimated for stronger fragrances.
>>18369360idk, had it on all day, still smells woody to me
>>18369250You gotta remember that perfums are mostly aerosolized denatured alcohol. The fumes coming off of that can irritate sensitive membranes and your lungs even without essential oils thrown in the mix. Try spraying them somewhere else on your body that doesn't rise directly up to your nose. Like the top of your forearms or down your back after putting on a shirt.Or, you might have an allergy to some ingredient. There's thousands of oils used in perfumery; you're bound to be sensitive to at least one of them, and it's relatively common.
>SOTD: YSL Tuxedogot a sample from a sales rep. Holy crap this is lovely
requesting frag-related images like pic related. anything fun.

Anyone try Montage Parfums? It’s an American dupe brand from NYC. Redditors coom for them but there is barely any reviews for their shit elsewhere.
>>18368442CdG zero
>>18369294hell no. and bon monsieur isn't a better drakkar noir either.
>>18369315>>18369461any idea what I can actually expect from Mousse Illuminee then? The reviews seem misleading
>>18369175Only the shower gel and deodorant. The modern formulation of the fragrance is bloody awful.
>>18369483Moss, wood, and frankincense.
Tell me about Chergui and Five O'Clock au Gingembre?
>>18369533Chergui is good. there are kind of too many sweet tobaccos out there nowadays, but this was one of the first to popularize the style
does anyone else's skin seem to just not hold onto frags? what do I do?
Never paid any attention to the Acqua di Gio line before but I'm going to give them a try out.The original and the Parfum in particular sound like I might like them, but I'm going to try them all at the department store next week.
>>18369599Find the people who say this usually have poor hygiene and are expecting fragrances to cover up their disgusting BO, which of course it won't.
>>18369599Heat makes fragnances disappear. Putting it on clothes is an alternative
>>18369175i use Brut and 4711 after i shower and dont plan on going out. i dig the scents, but they dont last so id rather wear perfumes if i intend on going out
>>18369145i own baraonda and oud & spice. love em both.
>>18369388Black Afgano has a "baby shit" smell at the dry down, Oud de Burgas smells like a barnyard, Ministry of Oud's Strictly Oud is a The Night dupe but smells more fecal.

what's the most autistic fragrance and brand on the mark? something that smells like shit except for a cryptic group of basenotes retards? maybe areej le dore?
13 samples in my cart (was 27 but once you cross the hundred dollar mark reality sets in and you ask yourself why you are setting money on fire). anyway, if dubs i hit the apple pay button.
>>18369682unrelated, i really want this bottle. i would try to re-fill it with something cheaper (like avignon) when it runs out.
>>18369686i also plan on buying a bottle of dylan blue to refill with something else. current thought is tauer lonestar memories. might get a decant and transfer it to the splash mini blue jeans bottle, just to save myself the effort of fucking about with syringes
>>18369689>dylan bluetypo, you know what i meant. anyway blog over
>>18369682i wouldn't buy this for the bottle alone, just like i would never put a zoologist bottle with a heccin wholesome reddit animal on my shelf
>>18369569I wish I could get more of the notes people talk about in Chergui, I'm mostly getting just sweet powdery florals.
>>18369294niche = le good
>>18369707fair, but i want to do something like this. i just need to find the location of this cabinet and steal it.
>>18369264paste it here please, assuming you have the part behind the paywall
>>18369200I’d have to spend some time dedicated to reading through my sample reviews to pinpoint a specific frag, which frankly I don’t feel like doing, but Pineward is pretty much always the best choice when it comes to forest scents, just read through his catalog and fragrance descriptions. >>18369294>>18369483I won’t claim that they’re “close enough” but they’re both worth testing. >>18369533Chergui is weird for me. The very first time I tested it, it started out as this fantastic smoky sweet scent over a thin layer of leather, really just can’t do justice for how complex and unique it smelled. But every time I’ve gone back to test it after that initial trial, it’s still sweet, but instead of that smoky leather, I basically just get this slightly feminine powdery scent that I don’t hate, but don’t love anywhere near as much as the first try. Gingembre is relatively short lived, 2-3 hours on my skin, but it’s in my experience a very unique fragrance as it perfectly encapsulates what it’s trying to mimic - candied ginger. /frag/ always shits on sweet gourmands, but if there’s any they would enjoy, I imagine this would be it, as it’s not nonsense sweet scent, it’s just tasteful, reserved, ginger candies. The problem with Gingembre is I have no idea when I’d use it, besides rare personal enjoyment around the house. Not a killer mind you, but it’s hard to rationalize a 100 ml bottle taking up space on -my- shelf for such a rare use, others may not mind it as much. >>18369707Depends on the animal. I love Penguin, both the scent and the image, T-Rex makes chuckle internally, Rabbit on the other hand I couldn’t do.
