What even is the point of a rotating bezel on a digital watch?
Anyways, picrel is another new Casio.
>>
>>18556821
one could also ask what's the point of making an analog dial if you're going to put a digital screen on it also.
but yeah, the bezels seem pretty stupid

This is the only collection a serious man needs. Anything beyond this is just frivolous and unnecessary. You may feel like you "need more" if you are effeminate but the truth is that there's neither point nor reason to go beyond these three watches.

There are 3. This one for the discussion of watches, another one for the discussion of how many salesmen's dicks you had to suck for the privilege to buy overpriced status symbols that don't impress anyone, and one for memes.

Did you set the hands to hide the logo on purpose?
>>

I went for Citizen cause I don't like changing batteries on a dive watch, and I dislike digital watches and all things that beep.
So I got a Komandirskie instead of the A158 and a hand-wound microbrand meme shitter instead of whatever that third thing is.
700€ total and I finished the watch game. Got a watch for every occasion, get compliments regularly (bitches keep asking if my Citizen is a Rolex, lol), and there's literally nothing else that interests me anymore.

Casio... do this and my soul is yours
>>
>>18557066
Yes, I know. And I hope you also know what that means.
Every single gear, jewel, lever and spring in that movement is made in China. The parts are then sent to Japan where the movement is assembled.
All parts other than the movement are also made in China. The parts are then sent to Germany, where the movement is placed into the case, the hands are attached, and the crystal is pressed in by a machine, accuracy is measured by a machine, it's regulated by pushing a lever, and the backplate is screwed on.
This is not a bad thing, and it's absolutely to be expected at this price point. I just don't want you to fall for the marketing.

Whenever I feel like buying a watch, I remind myself I can only wear one at a time. If you have more than 3 watches (1 for EDC, 1 for dressing up, 1 specialty), you're doing it wrong.

I feel like an important part of the discussion people ignore is that a watch is rated for a certain depth at the time of it being brand new and gaskets and seals degrade in quality over time. So if you get a watch rated for 30m water resistance it will be more likely to become compromised in water resistance as it ages. The entire discussion is stupid anyway because you can get 200m rated dive watches from casio for like 50 bucks so its not like cost is even part of the debate here. At the end of the day why would I want to go swimming with an orient bambino on even if I could?

Not if they just keep making Sub clones.
The date Sub doesn't even look good, even Rolex fanboys agree on that. The reason people love it is that it's a true GADA watch built to the highest standard, and also a status symbol. You don't have to choose between the beater and the dress watch in the morning. The Sub is both.
And it signals even more status when it's scratched cause it shows you can afford to beat up a Rolex.
All of that is missing in the clones. They just signal that you can't afford a Rolex and don't know enough to wear something original.
>>
>>18558587
>Wearing a watch as a status symbol instead of the tool it's meant to be

>>
>>18558587
Steel sub is like 10k USD new. That's a quarter of the MSRP of a base model 2025 Mustang GT.

>>
>>18556770
Just in case you're considering this watch, you should know the bezel is fake. It doesn't rotate.
>>
>>18556821
The dots on the display around the inside of the bezel represent seconds. (Probably can be changed to show minutes by pushing a button)
So you can use the rotating bezel just fine.

>>18558595
But the Sub is a piece of jewelry you don’t need, and you can’t finance it, so you’ve gotta drop the whole pile of cash at one time.
That’s a way bigger conspicuous consumption hurdle than getting a loan for a $35k car. Mustang costs the same as a Camry, and it’s basically the same level of practical if you’ve got no kids.
>>
>>18558676
This is so 100% typically Chinese. Seagull and Sea-Gull aren't the same company. Seagull licensed the right to make copies of Sea-Gull watches, cheaper, with worse QC and a display caseback.
Apparently it even confuses online shops.

Whats up guys anyone knowledgeable with Vostok here? People were talking about how buying watches off their website was not an option at the moment, has anyone purchased any of their watches from amazon? Are they real? They're only like 100 dollars with shipping, but anything I should know before I bite the bullet on one?
>>
>>18559798
Amazon ones can be shady as can eBay, try to get the one you want on ScubaDude's store, either on his website or eBay. You can buy on vostok-watches24 as well for cheaper but you need to make sure they can ship to your country, otherwise you'll need to use a proxy shipping service.
>>
>>18559801
Shady in what way? You mean they're fake? I want a Komandirskie but they're all sold out on the ScubaDude website in the styles I like. Amazon seems to have different bezel styles I can pick from as well and they're currently 25% off so cheaper than everywhere else too.
>>
>>18559810
Some of the Amazon and eBay listings you see are frankenstein mods or replicas with only some original parts, but if the seller has enough good reviews it's probably fine

I'm looking for a cheap GMT watch that I could take to gym or on holidays and wouldn't need to worry about it. Quartz but if sweeping running seconds is a possibility that'd be great. Also if it could handle some swimming that'd help. Budget up to $400.

pic unrel, a cat I met in Italy and fed it some fine fucking beef. That mf probably won't taste anything like it for a long time

I think I'm gonna give Amazon a try. The seller is "Vostok Trading" and I did some research on them using chatgpt, and mostly everyone on reddit and watchuseek is saying that they are legit. Only concern is that there seems to be long shipping times but that seems to be the case just about everywhere.
>>

Well, duh, I’m 100% against someone financing any type of watch.

That’s why I thought it was so crazy that the guy was saying a Rolex is “cheap” compared to a mustang or other low-medium performance car.
There’s no expectation that you’d buy a car straight up, but anyone financing a watch is an irresponsible moron.
Sure, if this guy thinks dropping $35k straight up on a mustang a minor purchase, then a Rolex is cheap, but no way is a guy like that on this website

How do you wear this thing, is this thing /fa?
Could you wear this thing and be taken seriously by anyone except the most Diehard maga?

Its $500 USD Btw.

Craftmanship looks questionable compared to more established brands in the price point.

Does wearing this make me a President?

It's a Trump branded product, so it's made in China, sourced by the cheapest bidder, thinly gold-plated and sold at a 100x markup.
Maybe it will be useful as a signal to other Trumpists, proof you also let Trump fuck you in the ass without lube and charged you for the privilege.

public service announcement:
after giving my new mechanical a month's worth of full winds, I used the Watch Accuracy Meter app to regulate it. with the app I was able to see that my movement was fastest in 6 and 9 up position and slowest in 3 up, and that the delta or range between all positions was 26 seconds.

however, when I compared with observing the actual SPD over the course of a full day, my regulation I did with the app came out ~20 seconds faster than what it gave me. although, the delta was 23 seconds. so, the app's delta reading was basically accurate with the observed.

with this knowledge, I used the app to give me a "wrong" reading that came out to what I wanted IRL.

here is the observed data. the top row was after a "correct" regulation with the app.
second column is re-regulating to put the worst loss in 3 up position (which is only when my arm is vertical i.e. not often) and to be slightly fast in 6 and 9 up, which is arm at my side and arm resting on while seated. all the other positions are closer to 0 spd than these three so after fucking with the watch for a while I only focused on these extremes.

tl;dr the app was extremely useful but it had to be tweaked, at least for my particular watch.

I guess most would count my Vostok as a shitter.
Although I've come to admire its design.
Russkies knew they can't build to western production tolerances or use luxury materials at this price point, so they designed the watch around what they could do, with some pretty creative hacks.
Like a friction bezel you can adjust by bending a wire.
The "over-wind protection" is just a tough spring mount that would require pliers to break.
The case pushes down on the gaskets so it gets more water resistant the deeper you go (The Amphibia is rated for 200m, but only fails at 800). The crystal is acrylic so it doesn't shatter and you can easily polish out scratches.
And the crown stem wobbles when you unscrew it so it won't break off.
>>
>>18567881
whicch one has the best backlight? I dont see electroluminesence on any of them so maybe they all suck.
>>
>>18568177
Vostok enrages me enormously with it's stupid design. Friction bezel might work at 200m underwater but i am not 200m underwater and this shit is never where you left it, the crown is moronic: if it stopped and you wind it up and then try to adjust time when you are done with time and screwing the crown back there is 80% chance for minute hand to move and you have to unscrew it back and adjust time again.
It is the worst watch i have ever come across.
>>
>>18568208
Completely forgot, if you are unlucky enough to buy the model with date you will be jerking off that crown a lot since in it's whole history vostok couldn't manage to make a quick set date function.
God this shit makes my blood boil.
>>
>>18568132
Just read the post monkey brains?
>>
>>18568208
The bezel is adjusted to work under pressure cause that's what the watch is designed for. If it's too loose for you, you can adjust it to your liking.
And the watch was made for Russian soldiers and workers, who will only own one watch. So they'll keep it wound.
I agree, objectively it sucks. But it sucks in a way you can work around, if you use it the way it was designed to be used, and submit to its quirks. That doesn't make it a good watch, but it makes it an interesting one to have in the collection.
>>
>>18568223
So it was designed stupid so they don't have to pay those capitalist pigs for their patents.
Patens expired ages ago, why can't they make a watch that i can buy and wear without having it finished by me?
>>
>>18568253
If it is that easy to make a quality watch fully in-house and sell it for under $50 out the factory door, why don't you buy one off the many other manufacturers who do it?
>>
>>18567881
If it's for work then honestly go for the silver royale. It has 5 alarms that you can use for reminders during your shifts and a much better backlight than the ones you posted.
If you REALLY want the "small casio" look then get an a168w since it's the exact same as the a158w but with better backlight (at the expense of having uglier aesthetics on the face but hey, it's for work, not for going out)
