Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per lb of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

Meal prep. Shred up some chicken or fry some ground beef at the beginning of the week. That’s your base. From there you can make all kinds of thing. Add a little carb (rice, potatoes, tortilla) and whatever veggies you like cooked how you like them. Practice to get good at spices. You’ll still have to measure ingredients but only have to do it once every few days. Unless they’re cooked in oil, most vegetables are negligible in calories

Went on vacation for a wedding down in Florida and lost all semblance of willpower between food and booze over a few days. Feel a little shitty about it but I'd already gone down 50 pounds since November and hadn't fallen off the wagon this hard since starting. My buddy was a linebacker in college. I remember when he was in peak training he was eating literally all day he wasn’t on the field or in the gym (~6 hrs a day). Can’t even be picky at that point, just have to shovel in whatever calories you can get. I recall he used to carry a bottle of ranch around with him, lol.

We’re now in mid thirties and he’s still built like a brick shithouse but that appetite caught up to him. He’s been losing and doing really well though.

It can be hard when you feel like you’re internalising the guilt too much, and constantly wanting to be thinner, but the key is to try and think in terms of learning to eat better than purely as restriction.

If you keep pushing back your goals, or you’re worried about still not being happy with your body when you do, what you could try is a) resolving to bring down your deficit to X amount closer to maintenance once you reach Y weight, and/or b) get into/ramp up exercise once you reach whatever weight, so that the changes in your body can be less about restricting calories and more about feeling healthier and looking better.

I’ve definitely found the transition from think about fitness more than weight really helped break that spiral of negative self-regard; I was still losing fat but it started to feel like something positive rather than punitive.

I have now bought into the idea that breakfast/first meal (with 30-50g protein) is probably the most important. I always naively thought it was only just a effort from certain interest groups to push this. Anecdotally speaking, getting my 30-50g protein in morning/first meal makes me feel solid with very limited hunger and no anxiousness for the rest of the day (breakfast prepared the previous day because lazy in morning and something like: one or two servings of a delicious 130c salmon fillet 22g pro and one or two 80c fried egg 6.5g pro)) and make me believe I can adapt to this lifestyle change for rest of my life.

Stews and/or curries are great for this anon. Just pick a protein and a couple of vegetables, some carbs like potatoes or lentils if you’re not minimising carbs, herbs and spice to taste, leave in a pot on medium heat for a while. If you have a big enough pot you can freeze/refrigerate for meal prep for a whole week if you want.

It’s basically idiot proof. The trick to cooking is that for a lot of things you don’t really have to ‘learn’ to do it, just get over the idea that it’s hard. Most everyday cooking is crazy easy.

The only rule really is if you eat meat, cook it properly so you don’t give yourself food poisoning (this mostly applies to raw chicken and pork).

bros I recently found out keto is high fat, low to medium protein, and no to low carbs.
I always thought it was high protein, medium fat, and no to low carbs.
I'm half asleep so my thoughts are a bit jumbled right now but why isn't it how I thought? I looked it up and the general consensus is you need fat for energy, otherwise you're literally going to die. But if you're doing keto to burn fat, why do you need to replace it? If you eat excessive protein it gets converted to fat anyway, right? And if you're down to single digit body fat percentages, you've made it, stop cutting.

ill get another try for the cardiac stress test in mid june, how should i train on my own stationary bike to keep my heart rate lower? should extending the time i ride the bike each day to 30 minutes or longer help me to may be successful at the cardiac stress test? my own bike doesnt offer as much resistance as the bike at the test, but it goes hard enough for me to not beeing abe to do the 20 minutes at the hardest level.

I would say that the majority of people want to help others especially when they are in a one-on-one situation or in the position to do so. It’s mostly when people are hidden in the mob that the negative shit comes out.

We often think that everyone is watching us and ready to ridicule, shame and demean us at the slightest chance but that is just our pathological ego speaking. People are all in their own heads and thinking from their first person perspective and this means they aren’t all focusing on you and in fact they are self conscious too.

For so long I couldn’t get into the gym because of crippling social anxiety and confidence issues. I thought it would be obvious I didn’t know what I was doing and I’d look like a fool and feel like a fish out of water. It wasn’t even that I’d be called out on it just that I’d know that they know that I didn’t belong and I was acting like a noob. Such a stupid outlook and now that I’m older I see how this mentality held me back and holds a lot of people back. These feelings are still strong in me (not about the gym but other things) but I just push through it and observe and laugh at my predictable defense mechanisms and neurotic tendencies. For example whenever I give a lecture or talk I’m always a basket case inside and want to cancel it but I always go through with it and it goes fantastic. It’s funny to watch me go through the same feelings and copes now.

Keep working hard and everyone loves an underdog success story. When you’re 200 lbs and under you’ll be an example of success to those around you.

When I diet down more than 10kg i define „basecamps“ which are weights where I will rest and recover for 4 weeks at maintenance level. This will give your body and your mind the momentum to climb the next level

I weigh myself daily and compare only weekly averages. Your weight of measured 24x a day every day looks like stock market ticker. 2 points are useless if only a month apart . You can’t compare 2 scales btw

I found a 2.6kg tin of beans on the way home one time that hadnt expired yet, cooked them badboys up and kept the the tin, which is now full of chocolate eggs for me to stare at and occasionally have one as a treat

the best example I can think would prolly be the time I dropped a chocolate eclair on the ground when I was walking with a friend and just dusted it off and kept eating, but that was equal parts fattybrain and jewbrain because like hell am I wasting food I just paid for

if you're fat, you're probably overestimating your TDEE by a lot. Unless at your size means 2.5m tall or something, which it probably doesn't. The fat mass does not burn a whole lot of calories and past a certain weight, most calorie estimations are garbage.

Pretty much every adult male, even tall ones, with a sedentary lifestyle can do 1500 kcal / day without problems.
