Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy diseased heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

Eat processed foods.
Drink your carbohydrates(alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.

Starting lifting can help you feel a lot better.
With reasonable expectations you'd be surprised how much better exercise can make you feel.
There's always something that can be done, even swimming can help you get out of your head.
Also spending time documenting your journey can help keep you in a growth mindset.

Here I talk about how I was so fat that I was too embarrassed to go outside, in the last few weeks I was getting all my slop delivered even though the grocery store is a 5 minute walk from home.

I lost my first few kg by diet alone, and little by little I got better and was able to go outside. A few weeks in I came to the realisation that I was not delusional or depressed or anything like that, I now believe I was objectively right to be embarrassed. Getting to this conclusion hurt a lot, the fact that, yes, I was disgusting and everybody could see that, and that yes they were probably thinking about it.

I'm doing much better these days, I still have some way to go but I have a realistic chance of Making It next year. I don't know what advice to give you, especially if you're stuck trying to start to lose weight. The most difficult part is starting, taking the decision to become a better person. I'm not sure how I did it myself. The only advice is, just do one day at a time. Eat well today. Go walk today. Don't think about the next 5 months or however fucking long you need to reverse the damage. Tomorrow is another day, and you just have to choose to eat right and do some activity today, there are no other days. But it's always today, if that makes sense, don't eat less tomorrow, eat less today.

What matters is to complete each set in a timely fashion. Beyond that, the amount of rest between set doesn't matter. Unless you believe in supersets, in which case holy shit it matters so so much. But probably not.

Screwed up my run today. I ran when it was hot out and I overestimated how well I could handle it, so I walked from 3.5mi into the run to the 5mi mark until I started running again. Overall good day though, probably too much rice.
Tomorrow I'll do 4x25 push ups, 4mi run in the heat, test sit ups in 2min, and test how many chin ups I can do again

You'll gradually build up endurance. Do it everyday, a little bit more each day. Don't jump too far at once. First time I got on one around 240 lbs, it was probably 40 minutes, I felt like I was dying, drenched in swear, and I burned maybe 230 calories. I did it again the next day, hit around 260. Then 300. After 4 months, I was getting 700+ in an hour.

Nowadays and over 100 lbs later, I do 2 hours and burn over 1000 while watching movies (I don't go as hard, it just passes the time). Just finished Gran Torino about an hour and a half ago.

I only got back into it less than half a year ago, and I had lost a lot of my endurance and stamina and could barely walk after. But I got used to it after a week. My advice is to not push yourself too hard, because you can risk inflammation in your body which causes cold-like symptoms. You won't actually be sick, but your sinuses will be raw and you'll have a fever and no energy.

Slight aside from my weight loss, I've made a great personal revelation. I've had this constant upper back and right arm pain for nearly 4 years now. Started in Covid but I couldn't really get it checked out and so it just grew and grew a little bit every week until it became a real issue.

I couldn't jerk off with my right arm because it couldn't do the up and down motion. Woke up with shoulder blade and upper trap pain, always had to roll it out. Felt like this tremendous knot underneath my right shoulder blade, impacted my right shoulder and arm movement. Couldn't raise my right arm without engaging my right part of neck and my upper body area. Couldn't ride my bike to work because my right arm just couldn't pull the handle to turn right. Same thing with driving where I just couldn't properly use to right arm to pull/turn the wheel to the right. Couldn't type properly because I couldn't move my arm from side to side without causing neck and right shoulder pain. Couldn't hold my neck straight without it twitching to the left and right with these weird muscles tryna keep it up.

I just sorta accepted this shit as daily life pains. Then a few weeks back I got an appointment and the doc and insurance said I could go for physical therapy.

One day the dude told me to do a tricep pulldown and then I did and then holy FUCK I felt my right arm activate like it hadn't in fucking years. Genuinely it felt like I was using a part of my arm that had gone dead for years. My god I can use my arm again, I forgot I could move it in such ways. I can lift my arm and pull stuff plus my neck and shoulder pain has reduced my about 75%.

A lifechanger. Seems like my triceps was inactive and my other muscles where just overcompensating which resulted in these year-long issues. Can a key muscle just stay weak and unused like that for so long?

How the fuck do you pick a random number to be your weight loss goal? I seriously don't get it. Like if you lost 20 pounds, good for you, but if I still think I look like shit I'll feel like shit. I started losing weight about 2 months ago to try to finally get rid of excess fat and have visible abs. I'm 5'10", was 184lbs., now down to 153lbs. from severe dieting and working out every day. My fiance gave me a limit to how much I can lose because I've been shedding pounds pretty fast. I'm not supposed to go under 150lbs. because it's "unhealthy," so that was my goal, but now that I'm basically there I can't imagine stopping. Sure I've slimmed down, have some ab definition, but my love handles are still ruining my physique and make me disgusted when I look in the mirror.

How do I set a specific goal when I'm losing for aesthetics?

I really have no clue how they are doing it. I guess many are probably cheating and lying. Some are probably injecting Vitamin B12 monthly or something with the help of a doctor and swallowing tons of pills and what not.
Vegans who say it 'just werks' are dangerous to gullible people who believe this shit.
Also the bloating from all the fruit, grains and vegetables is actually insane, because I had to eat so much volume and food to meet my macros.
I think I had to go to the toilet like 2-3 times a day and my stomach was constantly extended...

The cramping isn't in my stomach though. It's in my ribs around where my diaphragm would be. I eat slow. Plus I only eat 35g of oats, one cup of milk, and one scoop of whey. When I don't eat before I have zero energy which fucks me up. Especially since I only have time to go early in the morning. I don't know how you can expect anyone to have zero pains of any kind when starting.

Also even if it is not accurate on its own, it should be kind of accurate relative to what it was measuring you at.

Go by body fat percentage, get under 10% if you want to get rid of those final persistent fat deposits. Just know whenever you gain weight back they'll come back, can't really do much about how your body choose to allocate fat its genetic and unique to you and nothing you do will change that short of surgery. Staying that low for extended periods isn't healthy, probably best to just learn to live with it and stay around 20% body fat.

ye have little faith. i'm just incredibly active; the cardio numbers I gave are lowballing and excluding the approx 8000-12000 steps I do each day walking. I go to bed feeling absolutely starving and since starting just under 2 weeks ago I've lost 2cm off my waist (measured around navel) and ~1kg. for context I weigh 77kg. furthermore I agree the burned figure (which I did not manually set) is bs, but I'm 100% in a deficit based on how I feel and results.

Anons, as of now I'm only 15 pounds away from my goal weight (I'm currently 155 pounds 5'6" and started 2 years ago at 310). Is it ok if until new years I take a break from eating at a deficit and just eat at maintenance? Just to clarify. I will still track what I eat to make sure I don't gain and I will also still exercise so I don't lose stamina/ continue to gain muscle (currently running 3 times a week and lifting twice) I personally think I can afford it.
