Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.

I'm thinking about coming my family that a food scale would be useful, but they're intuitive eaters. I watched my sister drink a gallon and a half of of milk because she "craved milk" and just kept having glasses. Shes about 20BMI given she's 5'4" and was excited to hit 120lbs. They're all healthy weight except my mom who's overweight and has a sugar problem, and me who liked to overeat and eat junk, but they find my counting calories unhealthy and eating disorder pilled. I think if I get a scale and start weighing all my food they'll talk about hospitalizing me. At the very least sit me down and have a serious talk about how I take food too seriously. They don't at all understand my weightloss goals or why maintenance matters so much.

how realistic is my goal of getting under 220 by november next year. willing to do pretty much fucking anything as this is probably my one and only shot at not dying a wizard for reasons i will not elaborate further on, already tried a week of limiting myself to 1500 calories and while hard i can manage. My biggest gripe is with exercise as my ankles start hurting pretty badly after half an hour of walking, I tried swimming last week but the pool is pretty damn far away from my home and going there every day is not really realistic with me working part time and attending college. I recommend you to add chickpeas to your cooking arsenal. Tofu is also great. I also think bread and pasta are ok if you can control yourself and not eat a fuck ton of them. I don't think rice should be the only carb source for any diet.

for food, you'll get a million opinions, what works for me is: milk, eggs, meat, vegetables, and fruit. plus sauerkraut or kimchi everyday. i don't skip out on fat, because not eating it makes me miserable. intermittent fasting is another thing i do every day, skip breakfast and never snack.

I'm 20 pounds overweight and started losing weight 2 years ago starting at 310 pounds. I do have experience with losing weight and I think I could do a major deficit for a month. Eating 1000 calories would put me at about a 900 calorie deficit before exercise/ my physical job is factored in.

You should count your calories so you know exactly how much you're consuming. You should calculate your TDEE and then establish a -1000 calorie deficit from that TDEE. Then you should stick to that TDEE-1000 deficit until you're at a healthy weight. That's it, that's all you have to do.

What is healthy food to you? And just because it's healthy, does that mean you eat it in any amount? Dairy is healthy BUT not generally good for weightloss. Meat is healthy but ground beef is full of fat and calories. Leafy greens are healthy but not drenched in dressing.
Fruit is healthy but it's all sugar.

Taco Bowl Sallad:

500g of chicken mince ( 106*5 = 530kcal )
1kg head of sallad ( 14*10 = 140kcal )
250g black beans ( 90*2.5 = 225kcal )
150g Salsa ( 40*1.5 = 60kcal )
100g Sour Cream ( 1*194 = 194kcal )
?g cooking oil ( 50kcal )

Total: 1200~kcal

Chicken instead of beef for reduced calories.
Skip cheese it's not worth it. Can double up the beans or meat and still stay under 1800kcal. Be very careful to measure how much sour cream and oil is used.

1.75kg food and around 100g protein with some carbs from the beans.

500g Chicken breasts ( 120*5 = 600kcal )
500g Broccoli ( 33 * 5 = 165kcal )
300g Leek ( 60 * 3 = 180kcal )

500g Cabbage ( 25 * 5 = 125kcal )
150g Onions ( 40 * 1.5 = 60kcal )
1 Knorr™ stock pot ( 1 * 30 = 30kcal )
?g cooking oil ( 50kcal )

Total: 1200~kcal

Feel free to also add things like:

Mushrooms: Very low calories adds umami flavour
Beansprouts: Very low calorie, nice texture

Low Calorie Cheesecake

500g Greek Yoghurt ( 5 * 60 = 300kcal )
3 large eggs ( 3 * 70 = 210kcal )
40g Corn Starch ( 0.4 * 381 = 152kcal )
?g Zero call sweetener ( 0kcal )

For homemade jam:

200g Raspberries ( 50 * 2 = 100kcal )

Total: 700~kcal

Large cheesecake with around 70g of protein

Some final advice:

Oven roasted seasoned vegetables are completely different from the bland and mushy boiled stuff. Another pro tip is to cook some protein in a pan, remove the meat and then deglaze the pan with vegetables to capture more flavour. Make sure you are only cooking with "whole" ingredients so no processed shit. It will be tastier, healthier and cheaper this way. Getting better at cooking using whole ingredients in general was something that really helped.

Currently 88kg started at 109, we will all make it if we follow good advice
