>Who is /fat/ for?
For obese ballers working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
Eat more meat.
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros) or LoseIt (great for both).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 1g per lb of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat hyper-processed foods.
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

OP says to have 1 gram per lb of goal lean mass, so that would be about 160g.

When you watch old sitcoms, read old comics, other slice of life kind of things and they reference “holiday weight” they mean the extra lbs you’d put on by grabbing a treat here and there from nov-dec. >>
>>76918222
>I doubt these other circumstances are a very dramatic factor
do you think naturally thin people have to actually think about how much they're eating and consciously stop themselves from eating too much?
the body autoregulates this via hormones and shit.
simplest example is diabetics who take insulin injections gaining fat.
>>
>>76918213
I’ve never had white monsters I thought they were a meme. What do they taste like? I had a monster once, don’t remember what flavor it was, but it tasted like a really shitty 4loco without the alcohol
>>
>>76918236
I think thin people might be a combination or not using food as a stable dopamine source, having a lower appetite by default and some lifestyle characteristics.
>>76918233
There's a lot of guesswork in that even if your calorie tracking is very on point. I think one should focus on maintaining some trend over time with occasional adjustments to at least try to keep a stable pace. I'd guess lean bulk should be most importantly careful and slow even if it warrants occasional weight drops or weight stalls week to week. Shit, losing calories is way easier to plan.

>that keeps me full until dinner
>dinner is either 2 hamburger patties (1/3rd pound each) with cheese, or a patty + cheese and more eggs

if I add shit like rice it makes me feel worse.

White monsters are good because as far as synthesized fruit-like flavors go, its very neutral. It isnt really anything specific but its still pleasant to drink.
It would be like if you had a peach flavored MONSTER ZERO ULTRA and an actual peach - you know that you are merely drinking a facsimile of peach flavor.

i disagree that there is guesswork. there should be very little guessing if you are keeping track of things and being honest about it. every couple of weeks for the typical person won't see much variance and can/will default to whatever their number is at the time. but having them checking in more frequently with their TDEE prevents wasting time with unnecessary stalls

392lbs

Another week down.
I was 391 earlier this week but have been sitting at 392 since.
Seems the rapid loss might be stalling for now. Been doing a deficit of 1200 to 1500 per day. Haven't gone above 2000 since Thanksgiving. Trying not to get into my head about it slowing down, I knew it would happen eventually.
Shirt felt looser today, so that was good.
Blocked out my face this time since it was bothering some folks.
>>
why are you bothering with eating if you're doing that large of a deficit? pick a lane ya fucking whale
>>
>>76918504
My TDEE is 3163, anon.
A 1500 deficit is 1663 calories eaten.
>>
>>76918526
It's not. If your heart beats a bit faster, if you get emotional, if you see dreams it's likely a few kcal higher. What yours is is theoretical TDEE, not precise factual.
>>
>>76918541
Fair, but my point still stands that because I'm starting from such a high weight, even with a big deficit of 1500 I'm still eating a decent amount.

>naturally thin people
I remember college orientation, first time I was away from home with agency. One of the events was going out for pizza and ice cream at a locally famous spot and my fat ass obviously signed up. Hung out with a few other normal and thin people, made sure I didn’t order/eat more than they did to not be conspicuous tee hee. We ended up hanging out the rest of the day and getting dinner together at the dining hall. Being a fatass I loaded up my tray with a “normal” dinner and was surprised these other 18 yr olds just got salads, iced tea etc.
>gotta be careful after pizza and ice cream for lunch haha
Blew me away that people had the willpower to do that. I lost a ton of weight freshman year just observing and imitating normal eating habits of healthy people

Nothing beats fresh pico de gallo with Mexican spiced chicken mince. Mexican and Spanish couisines have such good recipes for salad alternatives. I never liked French ones that much. If I was able to I'd also store all locally produced stuff in olive oil, like the OG spics do. Italian and Russian couisines work best during the winter.

Sure thing, abo. But guess what? The very cake on your plate isn't bread. Get some real bread. Make some real bread.
>>
>>76918805
that's unnecessarily excessive. Instead of all that extra milk and cheese just cook up a few slices of thick cut bacon in the pan, remove and plop your eggs into the bacon grease to cook. You can add some butter with it too if you'd like.

Bacon takes care of the extra sodium you need from keto, the extra fat gets absorbed by the eggs and makes them extra flavorful, and it all works out great. If you want to incorporate some more fats grab yourself one of those single-serving packs of guac (or avocado mash if you prefer) and scoop it out into the eggs when they're almost done while you kill the heat. Makes it exceptionally creamy and gives it some more body

Most of them will be water weight. Not to mention that you'll lose muscles as well. Better to eat a high protein diet while staying under TDEE

You lose the muscle your body can't repair while malnourished, body will autophagy it into energy. Ketosis takes a long time, you're not only burning fat for energy.

>>76919031
fasting puts your body into the deepest ketosis possible
high concentrations of ketones (even higher than while doing a zero carb diet) prevent muscle degradation
2-3 days into a fast you get a massive spike of HGH and IGF-1 equal to low doses of steroids (which remain higher than baseline following weeks after breaking the fast)
the vast majority of muscle loss in controlled studies up to 10 days fasting occurs in the first 1-2 days
almost every study observing muscle loss during a fast has demonstrated that participants regain 95% of muscle lost while fasting the following week provided they eat enough protein

few things to note:
- being in a caloric deficit is inherently catabolic (you will always lose more muscle whether fasting or in a deficit, at least compared to a surplus or maintenance)
- every study demonstrating significant muscle loss during a fast that wasn't regained restricted patients from exercising, or they were bedridden (also a great way to lose muscle even while eating)
>>
It seems to me that you might lose "lean body mass" by your muscles obvously burning through all the glycogen in them. But otherwise it does seem silly that your body would break down its own muscle fibers. I think fasting is probably a lot less bad for your muscles than people say it is. But I also think fasting is just a bad dieting method for the vast majority of people who will find it far too uncomfortable vs a moderate calorie deficit sustained over many days.
>>
>>76919081
Nothing in your body is permanent, the least the soft tissues such as fat or muscle, and thus need constant repair. All of your body grows and renews constantly. What happens to your muscles, if you take a break from lifting? Both fat and muscle serve more functions than just one, muscles store energy just as fat does. Fat has more functions than just storing energy, insulation for one. Since those are easier to repair than say bones, they get used first. Then the brain.
>>
>>76919018
This. I was super jacked in my 20s. Became an alcoholic, got sober years later in my thirties and regained all of my strength and then some within a few months. In the alcoholic times I would workout sporadically maybe hardcore for a week every few months
>>
>>76919146
The main thing is to start early. I started working out and lifting when I was 12 for football. If you build up early it is very hard to lose no matter how much you try and abuse your body
>>
>>76919081
Muscle cells are extremely calorie intensive to maintain and very heavy, why wouldn't humans evolve to get rid of them when it's starving? And then there's edge cases like cold climates where the insulation from fat may be more important to protect than the muscle.

Not to mention muscle is the body's only internal source of glucose, it literally has no other option unless you want to enter a coma.

>You've found a way to take it up a notch

I think I may have found the perfect solution for me. It involves:

> 4¬6h eating window
> 0.5:1:1 macro ratio (carbs, protein, fat)
> 2.2k kcal max
> fasted training
> Pull ups/Dips before Cardio

But most importantly, my holidays ended so I'm back to work. That means burning extra 1¬2k calories from moving around in cold storage warehouse.

>Cant remember if you've ever posted a goal weight you want to hit, or just going to keep going and see.

I did mentioned on few occasions how I want to hit 87 before Christmas. It's gonna be a miracle if I pull it off. Either way, I'll stick around for one more Leg just to see if it's possible to go down to 80. Navy Calculator would have me believe my lean mass is at 75 and I can see my ribs when shading is right. I may be pushing my luck here.

yes, I lost around 8kg (probably including water weight) in around 6 weeks of psmf with 1 refeed a week
I didn't adher 100% bc I would add some treat every day (like a few nuts or a little bit of dark chocolate or an occasional eggs or two to not go crazy)
I was losing around 1kg a week after the initial fast loss stage, my caloric intake was probably a little over 1000 cals a day
you def don't need 300-400g of protein, even 200 would be probably plenty
I felt surprisingly alright most of the time except for the post-cheat days when I had actual dopamine crashes and sometimes felt depressed, so my advice would be to keep your refeeds sane and structured so you won't yank your hormones too much

It's hard to track how much you burn via exercise. Most calculators/devices overestimate a lot. People rate their effort levels too high too. And your body compensates in a lot of ways so you end up not burning as much throughout the rest of the day. If you're very conservative with how you count it, you can eat a bit more. But for us fatties, it's easy to over do it, so it's not recommended.

literally all you need to do is track your weight and calories. if you went from 200 to 198 joggin an hour a day and eating say 2500 calories your tdee would be 3500 calories. Is that from jogging or the rest of the day who knows but if you dont jog you can apply the same sort of logic, jogging would burn about 1000 calories in this instance so your tdee would be 2500. You would just have to find how much you are burning but you can get away with an average and you probably already can figure out this with your current data you have

It's called ptosis. Basically it means you definitely have brain tumors that put pressure on the third nerve. See a doctor. It could also be nothing, I don't want to make you worry unnecessarily.
>>
>>76920343
Tell me about your weekly lyft plan, what style (volume & intensity) and rest schedule. Also how big of a deficit are you running, how many times do you eat per day, and when do you usually lyft during the day?
>>
>>76920279
Lol you’re retarded. No wonder you’re fat.
>wheat flour? Oil? wtf kind of chicken soup are you making???
>>
>>76920445
Fullbody every day :^)
I donno my deficit. My BMR is like 1.8k and I eat 2-2.1k a day.
I walk 4-8 miles in the morning doing 50 minutes of heavyhands during it. Then I will have my first meal, sometimes its just a shake and a fruit. Then I work out, then I drink another shake. Then I walk the dog, 1.5-2 miles. Dinner is my big meal. Sometimes in the evening I will jog 30 minutes if I am still hungry so I can eat more.
>>
Could be a good thing. Ive seen people on chemo who have wasted away into skeletons.

Cardio and workouts don't mix too well, also doing a fullbody every single day will just result with your body trying to repair everything and failing at it. Your CNS is likely very fatigued too on top of the muscle loss.

You're at a crossroads where you need to do big alterations based on what you want. The fasted state cardio is good for fat burn, but lifting without proper rest & not giving the muscle groups enough time to heal is just counterproductive (insane). Lifting and cardio should have a 4-6h delay from each. You should have enough glycogen in your muscles for the workout and let fat just be the auxiliry source.

Where do you want to go from here?

Im not engaging with your pilpul. I don’t put oil or wheat flour in my chicken noodle soup. I use those jew egg noodles which may contain some wheat flour but what difference does it make? Not everyone is some dysgenic mongoloid that can’t digest wheat

Egg noodles have virtually the same amount of calories as a wheat noodles. You getting upset and constantly trying to backtrack while spewing insults is not a good look. The fact is chicken noodle soup does not have "basically no calories"
>>

Oh, okay, you're the pilpul guy

Chicken noodle soup has basically no calories. Even a big bowl has just a few hundred calories. Not everybody is drinking an entire pot in a sitting…. Prove me wrong

Walking is cardio. Active recovery is light cardio. Both are defined by heart rate and intensity, active recovery needs a whole other piece that is nutrients for the recovery part.
>>

You lost, just admit it. Shows the calories in an entire bag of noodles. Refuses to show calories of a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup. Try harder next time, jew
>>
>>76920597
Look at the label again. I'm done here since apparently you can't even read. There's six servings in a bag.
>>
>>76920599
What TF does that have to do with a bowl of chicken noodle soup???
>>
>>76920579
Okay. I think we're talking past each other here. Just so we're clear, to you, 300 calories is "basically no calories". Did I get that right?
>>
>>76920599
Im actually shocked they have so few calories. Are you stating somebody takes an entire bag of noodles and puts it in some giant vat and calls that a bowl of chicken noodle soup?
>>
>>76920606
I mean I dump 300g of frozen veggies in a cup or two of chicken broth and eat a couple fruits a day that I don't count the calories from it so yeah I agree.
>>
>>76920611
Please answer the question. Don't use comparative analysis based on what you do and don't count. You inaccurately count calories and logging your food is not relevant to my question. It's a yes or no question. Answer yes or no.

Here, I’ll make it easy for you. The goyslop canned chicken noodle soup has 230 calories in a big can. Homemade has less than that. So one bowl of chicken noodle soup is less than 230 calories. That is basically no calories for a meal. I have lost so much weight in the past just eating chicken noodle soup
>>
>>76920616
It's so weird how you won't answer the question. It was a yes or no question. Let's ballpark it. 200 calories is "basically no calories", correct?
>>
>>76920622
For a meal? Absolutely. Three 200 calorie meals a deal is 600 calories in a day. That is basically no calories when you’re supposed to get over 2000
>>
>>76920625
Stop moving the goalposts and answer the question. Why do you keep adding premises Instead of answering yes or no.

A simple cabbage salad used to be my favorite, but it's inedible without oil for me, it's like eating rubber...
I've tried vinegar, lemon juice, letting it rest overnight and it does little to fix that.
Anyone done a kind of low-calorie salad dressing, maybe with a low-fat yogurt or something?
I gotta find a way to get my fiber in without feeling miserable.

Try fermenting it, it's a thing. You can ferment it to the level that suits your tastebuds. Fermenting it too much will turn it really sour, like this guy >>76920973

>>76921090
Olive oil, vinegar, salt, maybe a teaspoon of sugar.
>>
fermented foods suppress my appetite. I try to sneak in some kimchi or saeurkraut whenever i can.
>>
>>76921112
Hmm. Not sure how you'd recreate that with low fat ingredients. Have you tried something like grated cheese? Grated aged cheese has a nice flavor profile and vinergary tang for about 20 calories per tbsp
