Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and burn fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body burning away muscle AND fat.

But for people that are like 30% and less a pound a week is about as good as it gets. Any more than that and you really are starving yourself and losing muscle badly. I say this as someone who has about 40 lb to lose and I'm coming to terms with the fact that this is probably going to take almost a whole year to do correctly without some kind of stupid muscle loss.

I stuck to eating just around 1000kcal per day. I can only do this if I split my meals in two - lunch and dinner. Discovered some interesting recipes too. Instead of frying turkey meat I just boil it in hot water, seasoned with chilli powder. I might try an air fryer instead but so far I manage to get a really nice curry like goo, delicious lean turkey breast and broccoli or spinach to down it with. Two dishes like this get me around 450 kcal per meal but around 90 grams of protein each. I can get my daily protein while keeping my calorie count insanely low.

Been sleeping like shit on my cut so had to switch back to the croissant diet so I'm saturated fat maxxing while eating maintenance now.
Trying to get in fasted yohimbine cardio in in the mornings regardless but it's a special kind of suffering trying to backload in ~1000calories of fat, and dark chocolate is expensive so I'm getting like 400 a day from butter.

if you're properly roundboy obese bodyweight exercises like pushups will actually be much harder than a dumbell press so get some adjustable weights and a bench

diets are easier to stick to if you focus on sticking to the calorie cap instead of trying to ban entire food groups or whatever, the key is honesty, log every calorie, even the little ones

eat lots of lean meat and vegetables though because you want lots of protein, a little bit of healthy fats (salmon, olive oil). Carbs aren't the devil to be avoided or whatever but they are basically empty calories that spike your insulin. Protein and fiber leave you satiated longer.

I'm obese class 1 (220lbs at 5' 9''). I truly don't know if that's considered grossly fat. I actually get dysphoric thinking about how I ate growing up. Not only would my mom practically encourage unhealthy eating habits, she would use an insane amount of oil whenever possible. I'm talking vegetables swimming in a pool of oil and being left to sit so it could soak up all the grease. The worst part is how she would always talk about how we eat good food, unlike everybody else. Her food tasted like shit and made the entire family balloon up, but she's too delusional to recognize just how unhealthy we are. The only times she would actually acknowledge it was whenever my uncle gave me shit for only eating carbs as a kid and my mother would back him up to fit in (as if she wasn't a pasta addict who hated meat and boiled vegetables until they were virtually inedible). I wouldn't have to go through all this effort to get my weight under control if my mom put some effort into cooking growing up. I can't even say that the food tasted good, FFS.

Too hard to calculate accurately, plus the body compensates after exercise. I track it conservatively, round down the time and intensity level. And I just treat it as bonus calories burned, not calories you get to eat back. Helps me not worry if I go 50-100 cals over. Seems to help stop plateaus as well.

you can totally lose 100lbs in a year. many people here have done it. 70-100lbs is an achievable goal. starving yourself is the hard way though. all you really have to do is eat 500-1000 calories less than your TDEE - that's your Total Daily Energy Expenditure and it's a huge number of calories for someone who is your weight. Do that and you'll lose 1-2lbs a week. A little exercise too makes things go smoother.

12(months) X 4(weeks per month) X 2(lbs per week) = 96lbs.

starve yourself if you want to but counting calories is easier and less painful.

You dont need to fast to lose that much weight in a year. A balanced diet of 30/30/30% carb/protein/fat with basic high rep/low intensity workout along with some cardio will get you done in half a year.

Last workout for a bit was yesterday, real good arm day.
Taking a two week layup since my ass... has never intentionally done one and apparently you need one every 8-12 weeks.
In ketosis and ketones are magnificently muscle sparing, also keeping with 16:8 IF for growth hormone.
I know this is pretty safe but fact checked with grok and grok says I have a good 2-3 week window to work on fasted cardio and running a 600kcal/day deficit without threatening lean mass.
Doing this and have a slow bulk until May planned.
