>Who is /fat/ for?
For Sizable Skiers who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

The nuns represent our self control and motivation to lose weight, the ducks represent our desire to eat and grow fat. Or something like that, the second fat loss general used this pic and its been an easy source of OP pics since the guy who draws them puts them out almost daily.

Have you tried dieting the conventional way with just smaller portions throughout the day?
I used to do IF and OMAD and more often than not found myself so hungry that I did a whole kitchen tour snacking on everything I could find while waiting for my dinner to warm up. Not to mention it sucked for the gym. I felt so weighed down and fatigued.
Eating on a normal schedule with smaller more filling meals throughout the day has helped immensely.

Really it just comes down to self control, OMAD can work, three meals a day can work, but nothing is going to work if you can't control yourself. There is no cheat code or hack that's going to magically let you stuff your face with everything you want. You have to learn to limit yourself.

About 3 years ago, I began losing weight for literally no reason. I was around 175 pounds at my heaviest and have been hovering between 145 and 150 for the last year and a half or so. Nearly all of the weight loss occurred within the first year. My diet didn't change at all and my activity level has only increased a little. The whole time, I have eaten considerably more than my TDEE. I'm a 5'8" (173cm) 21-year-old male. What the fuck happened?
>>
>>77097881
Yeah, but she's not fat. The whole point of the fat ducks is that you can feed them bread endlessly and they'll never stop eating it. The nun is a normal weight and she's eating a single doughnut.

>>
>>77097916
I figure it's probably something hormonal. I'm only a little less sedentary than I was before, because I've been walking a few miles every week. Maybe I should get checked out by an endocrinologist.

>>77097917
If so, it's growing slow as fuck. I haven't noticed any tumors yet.

Broke 85 hours of water fast today, I have lost 6kg since last month from 99 to 93kg, want to reach 80kg
>>
>>77097926
You know when you're regularly drinking water you're gonna add back all the weight you lost that wasn't from energy deficit right?
>>
>>77097940
Why can't you just be happy for the guy that he exercised his willpower and lost weight? Why do you have to try and dunk on him? Focus on you instead of tearing others down.
>>
>>77097940
It’s not like all that loss was from fasting and the weight difference is after eating and drinking a shitload of water.
>>
>>77097948
Unfortunately things do tend to come off more rude than intended on the internet. I'm not trying to tear him down, but I do think his strategy is less than advisable particularly in terms of sustainability.
Also, I think your point of view on willpower doesn't reflect reality. Willpower actually isn't like a muscle where you exercise it and gain more max willpower. It's more like a resource gauge you're always managing. People who go on more extreme dieting strategies (and yeah, I think multi day water fasts are about as extreme as it gets, if he really meant he's not even drinking water) are statistically more likely to rebound and fail to keep the weight off. It's something to think about.
>>
I've been doing a water surplus so when I inevitably fall back into my bad habit of only drinking 2 bottles of water a day I'm going to whoosh like 10 lbs
>>
>>77097953
Perhaps you didn't mean to come off as extremely rude, and if I interpreted it incorrectly, I apologize. However, the second part of your post was entirely a strawman. I didn't say any of that. All I said is he exercised his willpower. I didn't say it was like a muscle, or it was going to get stronger, or any of that stuff that you just pulled out of thin air. The fact that you already have this preconceived notion of what people believe is what leads me to believe that I didn't misinterpret you in the first place and that you're just going off instinct, shotgunning negative things to people because you're unhappy yourself.
>>
>>77097948
Shut the fuck up you hugboxing niggerfaggot, if he wanted positive reinforcements and all smiles and sunshine he should post his progress on reddit or something
If you go on the internet and post your progress about something you're doing it with the intention to get some sort of feedback
If you do it on 4chan you already internalize the fact that someone's gonna say something retarded or mean
>>
>>77097881
>>77097915
So, we have Dr.Pepper Zero, which tastes so fucking good, why do we not have Zero donuts? Granted it wont be zero caloires like sodas since it basically just turns it into flavored water, but a full sized glazed donut being only 30-50 caloires would be amazing. Yes this may be a stupid idea, I just want the reason why this hasnt been done, or if done how many caloires would be removed.
>>
>>77098008
Because if you dont eat calories you're eating some sort of indigestible garbage, your body doesn't like that stuff and it fucks you up

Yeah well there's all kinds of research into artificial fats/fat-calorie reductions

Some drugs that make you just not digest fats
There's a plant fat called EPG that's just not digestible and its supposedly used in the David bar for very low calorie content while keeping the rich taste of fat
>>
>>77097962
There is no point in discussing a topic with someone who's already set in his ways. It's just a waste of time for both of you.
>>
>>77098045
When you say not digestible, im assuming the food still gets broken down into waste, just the body doesnt absorb anything from it? I might legit see Zero Donuts in my life time, hahaha.
>>

Was my last post formulated to be too long? It was about which one, SS vs. upper/lower split, is better for a fatass who wants to put between one to two days of gym sessions in his week to gain general strength (and lose weight) while training martial arts twice per week. The focus is on martial arts, as I'd like to go amateur someday.

If you're in twice a week, do full body. Just choose one push, pull and legs exercise per sesh and do those, 3x10. Yes it's enough for a beginner.
But you also posted you haven't been able to consistently go to the gym. Consistency is the most important thing. Someone who goes in and dicks around on whatever machines they think look fun is going to make 100% more progress than someone who doesn't go. Figure out consistency, then you can "optimize" your workout or whatever.

But don't you weight with food and water for most of the day? You only weigh without food for a few hours after waking up, which make it inaccurate and somewhat cheating

Food isn't a natural part of your body makeup.
You want to weigh yourself when your body has the least amount of extra foreign factors weighing it down as possible, which is usually first thing after waking up and emptying yourself.

I was having that for awhile. I kept having itchy patches show up on my chest, neck, between my shoulder blades, back on my hands, and my neck.
Figured maybe it was jock itch or contracted some other kind of fungus at the gym since assholes will sometimes not wipe down their shit. No fungus creams were working.
It might be something hormonal, or some sort of eczema, though I've never had outbreaks like this until I started dieting and working out.
I also ran across a random post online talking about someone having similar outbreaks due to soaps and lotions bought on Amazon often being fakes made with unusual chemicals. Right now I'm itch free after changing to body washes bought in a store and not off Amazon so that might have been it.

Guys I need your advice and your thoughts and sorry for the long post in advance as its my first time here.

Recently diagnosed with severe adhd and 3 months ago I started medication (Vyvanse).

According to my psych my binge eating can be attributed to this and I have noticed since starting meds I am down almost 10kg however I struggle to even take my meds and during long periods when I dont take it I do notice I eat like a fat shit who cant control himself and gains alot of the weight back.

I really want to lose weight but every time I do I always gain it all back plus some extra, last time I lost 20kg and dropped to 104kg but I gained it all back just being a pig.

I dont hate how I look nor my lifestyle and how inactive I am but I feel like without any accountability I cant lose weight, Ive tried to make gym friends so that whenever they go I feel forced to go with them but 3 times now they have all quit the gym shortly after and I dont know what to do now, I hate how I am ok with being unhealthy I wish I had the drive and determination like most of the ppl who succeeded here but I just lack motivation, someone please help me cause I dont hate myself enough to want to be fitter and I do think thats a bad thing but I can never hate myself like that
>>
>>77098823
You shouldn't need to 'hate' yourself to make improvements. You should want to improve because it's a better quality of life. Sort your thinking out.

very nice progress, keep it up. any good meals you made?
tonight I made a stir fry with chicken, broccoli, onions, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, and salt/pepper/garlic powder on everything. was tasty, 600 calories, and I can make another 4 or so meals with the ingredients I have. and it only cost me like $30 for everything. $6 a meal isn't bad at all

it's not about the accountability, that's an obvious excuse for not taking the initiative yourself. besides, it's not about motivation, it's a holistic lifestyle change. there's no motivation involved because motivation is transient and will eventually go away. you need to change your habits
you're also not supposed to hate yourself, because emotions change often. self-hate is a one-way ticket to burnout. imo the proper thought process is a disdain for your bad habits and a want to change them to good habits to see good results
>>
I started losing weight again after I stopped eating bananas at midnight. I literally can't eat anything before going to bed?

Also, does fapping effect weight loss?
>>
>>77098825
I wonder if there is a way to make my non-medicated state of being to actually want that, I get that feeling whenever my vyvanse kicks in, I enjoy going out for walks and being active and I do things because I know its good for me however without being on my meds I am just content being inactive nor do I chase the better things in life.

>>77098862
I getchu, so far the only reason I enjoyed losing weight was each time I lost a chunk of KG's I feel like I looked better and that was it. would it be healthy if I just focus my disdain on bad habits just because I want to look more attractive?
>>
>>77098886
>would it be healthy if I just focus my disdain on bad habits just because I want to look more attractive?
don't lean too far into the negative. I look in the mirror and I'm like "damn, I'm fat, I don't like that because I shouldn't be so fat" and that's mostly it. I want to look and feel better and those aren't bad reasons at all.
it's best to focus on the good things that will come from your efforts and not beat yourself up too much

You seem to bend at your hips a lot. Your torso leans forward, so you have to engage your lower back to stand upright again
Try to keep your chest up and out more, your upper body should generally be upright through the whole motion

How important is reaching or surpassing exactly 10k steps a day?
After about an 70 minutes I can get to about 7k steps, and I can’t really put in more time than that at the moment.
I’d rather not buy one of those walking pads, but if getting more steps in is important I guess I’ll have to

I’ve seen some anon’s talking like getting a daily 10k steps is an absolute necessity
Also, is it important to get steps in on days I workout? At the moment I go to the gym 3 days a week and I walk on the other 4 days
>>
>>77099439
>>77099453
10k steps isn't really a magical number or anything but around this point it starts to make a difference. 7k steps is maybe 3-4k over the amount of steps you'd get anyway just walking to the toilet or the kitchen with absolutely sedentary lifestyle, it's basically nothing.
And yes you should still be walking on the days you go to the gym if you're only lifting.

10K per day is like 5 a day fruit. Good for general health, it also helps with recovery and is a low impact activity.

I've been hitting around 6-7k per 1hr of walking, it has improved my general walking speed, endurance, and has had a noticeable effect on my running too.

Walking pad, while not necessary - does give you more opportunity to get steps in while doing another task, and helps with not sitting at your desk for too long.

I gym 4, Run 3 and Walk 1hr everyday. Weight is falling off me.

I'd say your current schedule is fine, but if you feel you can do more, I'd find a way to make it work for you.

You ease into it gradually, pic related is one way of doing it. Word of advice: for gigalardos (chunguses weighing 110kg or above) its better to start just by walking until you drop down to more manageable weight because jogging/running WILL murder your joints if you are fat enough. Walking will still give you plenty of cardiovascular gains and help you lose fat without risking permanently ruining your body

Not the asker, but this sounds like a good idea. It'd be your true, regular, practical weight after a day of life. You've eaten, showered, gone through the day, worked out maybe. Before bed makes sense to me, I might try that. Also sounds easier to not add yet another thing to a morning routine.

this >>77099918 unironically. learning to breathe was huge, i used to wheeze until i got too dizzy to keep on lmao. try breathing exercises at rest to get used to controlling it. meditation helped a lot in that regard.
i also had to build up to a respectable pace. i tried to run at a "normal" speed at first and burnt out immediately. once i stuck to fatass pacing, i kept it up until i started developing stamina. i went from barely being able to jog for a minute straight to ten minutes, and now i'm starting to work on speed. the goal is a 10min mile, and so far i'm averaging 14min from my starting point of 21min.
for actual jogging, i started with alternating between 1min of jogging and walking. it was hell at first, could barely make it a mile and i would need extra walking time, but i tried to push myself to jog for 1:15/1:30 in the middle.
after a bit of that i gained some actual stamina and started following c25k after another anon recommended it to me.

I recently discovered a sneaky calorie bomb I've had daily for at least a year.
I already knew about my slight drinking problem/coping. Lost my job last year and spent six months interviewing, searching, questioning life. This coping with whiskey.
Early last year, late 2024, I took up making homemade coffee creamer from my chef friend.
- One 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
- Equal part half and half
- Vanilla extract

Super easy, cheaper than premade, no high fructose corn syrup, and still tastes great. PROBLEM THOUGH is that a single serving of two tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk alone is 130 calories. If I do the usual, liberal "splash" of creamer, it easily makes my routine two coffees a morning into a 300-400 calorie intake to right in the morning.
I don't have a container to balance out the proportions, which is rather do than get "diet" creamer or cut it out entirely.
>>
>>77098803

it depends on how filling those 450 calories are
I've learned that some stuff will get rid of hunger for hours despite being very calorie dense
>>
>>77100547
Hmmm. Yes'nt.
>yes you can go crazy
Its YOUR will, you can do a suicide cut if you actually plan it out properly. That means keeping your diet planned TIGHT so you're hitting macros and still have some variety and options AND you have a good multivitamin that can actually fill in the gaps. You should also be taking very very good care of your skin, I'm talking good quality moisturizer and body scrubs and at least once a month when you've got time a good shower and scrub and moisture then using a serum for your skin.
>no you'll get fucked up
If you develop serious deficiencies it'll hurt you a lot, if you're on this super cut how will you go back to normal eating? What happens if you skip out on nutrition and you skip out of skincare? What happens when you're 4mo in and go apeshit in a domino's? When the super cut makes you too tired to exercise? You've gotta really think it through and have an organized plan

One of my last updates.
36 days of fasting.
People are starting to comment on my lethargy,
Oddly weight went up... Maybe shitty bathroom scale maybe water retention but it was 3 days between weigh ins so I am thinking scale is just shit.
Feel good but low energy.

How many days did that previous anon make it before dying? I think he was in his high 40s or 50s? Maybe you can beat his record, leave a note for whoever finds you to let us know how far you made it.

1000 hours max. Actually plus a few because I won't be home till like 1010 hours but none the less I am capping it. More over I still will call it early I I feel shitty. This is my note.

Eating late at night indirectly(and directly) makes you gain weight. I learned recently that eating a late dinner makes me need to sleep 1-2 hours longer. If I don't, I'll feel like shit and want to be more active. If I'm not more active I start gaining weight.

>The whole time, I have eaten considerably more than my TDEE.
You unironically have diabetes. Buy a cheap ass glucometer, test your normal glucose levels and also a fasting glucose test.
>>
>>77099006
Yes, your body dumps cellular waste into your butt even if you don't eat anything for days and days.

Fast guy. I posted a few night backs, I ain't anything in 5 weeks and I'm still shitting.

do you have a plan for maintenance?

With the food money I saved I have the years protein, also cutting booze will mostly keep me light. Generally just eat better but not so restrictive. The fast is partly religious as 40 days has also really cut my muscles too.
>>
Started exercising after a *long* time on New Year's at 242, finally dipped below 230 today at 5'9".

Should've taped today; should be close to 40" abdomen. Shame I haven't gotten chest to pass 45" yet, but it's early times yet.

I could drop weight faster by going full cut, but I'd rather stick with recomp because I need the muscle too.

finally, day 3 of my three day total fast. did i make it? not exactly, as this is 2 hours shy of a 62 hour fast and i just had a nice meal. also, at about 7pm today i had a swallow of orange pineapple juice and a banana at 8pm. why did i come so close only to fail right at the end? well, it was intentional. i had to train someone at work to do something and i wanted to be able to think clearly and be in a good mood and that's why i drank the pineapple juice.

traditionally, the fast ends at sundown, and by waiting until 7pm and slowly easing back into eating (refeeding) i think that i held to the spirit of the fast without being a 'rules lawyer' - which is what the church recommends. the most important guideline though is to not cause someone else to stray from their own ordeal by pretending that you are somehow holier than they are because you did everything 'correctly.' this is that sin of pride again. if someone decides to do a fast, but makes some exceptions, or "fails" somehow, then that's between them and god and you shouldn't make them feel bad about it. "keep your eyes on your own plate" they say.

what did i have for my first meal of lent?
>a small portion of chips and salsa, with beans

i am completely stuffed. i think my stomach shrank a bit during those three days. weight on the scale when i started: 199lbs, weight on the scale this morning: 191lbs. wow.

honestly though, that mostly water weight and muscles starved of glycogen. in all likelihood, the refeed will push me up 5lbs on the scale, and really i lost 2-3lbs in 3 days.

Should I train to reduce my body fat to the teens? Mine is currently 23. I don’t have a lot of easy win left and it takes weeks just to lose a pound

>>77101220

take a maintence break if you've been on a consistent cut for more than 12 weeks, go 1 or 2 weeks off and then cut again, it makes a big difference
>>
>>77101284
yeah same but for 15lbs
whatever I did before doesn't work and I've had to completely change how I approach weight loss
I'm lucky if my caloric deficit is more than 300 most days

I got drunk last night and wasn't looking at calories because I'd only had 600cal of food for the day. Two bottles couldn't hurt right? Its not even sweet! WRONG. 550Cal per bottle. There goes my fucking day.
>>

Do you know you can eat an entire rotisserie chicken safely after a multi-day fast? If I fast for more than 36 hours I need to reboot my GI tract slowly with some soup first before reintroducing solids, otherwise nothing will fit and I’ll have a massive stomachache
