>Who is /fat/ for?
For Weighty Wrestlers who are working towards a wonger wife and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

Anything is better than nothing. You will normally find weight loss is 75-85% diet & 15-25% Exercise.

Focus on diet and get in as much exercise you can manage and you will make progress.

Fish would be god tier if it wasn't for the mercury contamination, but if you're smart about what kinds of fish you eat its not that big of an issue.
>>
>>77171995
>Can I get buy with just pushups and pullups?
You can get 'buy' with just fork putdowns. Exercise isn't going to change anything if you don't fix your diet first.
>>
>>77171995
If you purely wanna lose weight all you need to do is count calories and walk a ton. The counting calories is the main one.
If you want to look better once you reach a healthy BMI youll want exercise.
Calisthenics can help you look good lean but a full weight training program is probably better
but again these things are really just if you care about what you look like once you reach a healthy weight

is there a way to reliably have a bowel movement early in the morning when you wake up? for me its always been that i have to eat something for my digestive system to wake up. makes morning weigh ins unreliable. maybe i should eat more fiber? coffee doesnt do it either and also if i drink a cup of coffee thats extra weight for the scale that would counteract the bowel movement probably.
>>
>>77172140
Yeah it's really annoying and makes daily weigh ins stupid. I only weigh myself once a week, the morning after one of my fast days, so it's pretty damn consistent.

is spot reduction actually a meme? I know the sticky says it is but honestly with all the bizarre body shapes and fat distributions I see among even normal-ish people there’s no way its completely unsupported
>>
>>77171995
push up, chin up, and pull up, with good form, is basically the whole upper body. do something for forearms and core too because weakness in those areas can affect how well you do the other exercises
>>
>>77172195
You can spot increase muscles by focusing on a particular area, and the body will burn certain types of fat first over others. But no, you can't just pick a body part and choose to burn the fat there specifically|
>>
>>77172225
> the body will burn certain types of fat first over others.
but how do I control this? I have some visceral fat I need to get rid of, I’m already eating at a deficit and eating right. No soda, water only, sweet or fatty sauces, and eating actual vegetables type shit
>>
>>77172227
and I am hitting protein but other than keeping cal count low I don’t really think past that for macros. Typically by the end of the day the count checks out and there’s no room to eat anything more once I hit protein goal
>>
>>77172160
I can't do fasting sadly, I have a vitamin deficiency and if i go too long without eating i get some shit like anemia and my blood sugar plumets and i get dizzy and shit. maybe i can try eating my last meal much earlier before bed the day before so it digests and is ready to be shat out earlier?
>>
>>77172195
>with all the bizarre body shapes and fat distributions I see among even normal-ish people
People store fat differently and it seems your body stores fat in a stack configuration where it'll store fat in your (bottom of the stack)Ass/Hips/Thighs/Ass/Belly/Arms/Belly/Ass/Thighs/Ass/Face/Hips(top of the stack) and that stack is different for everyone and when that person starts burning fat they'll lose it from the hips, then their face, then their ass, then their thighs, as they undo that stack from top to bottom fat deposit by fat deposit but if they ever gain weight again it'll be in that stack order again only revised as they add fat bottom to top and when you see these alien misshapen people its because their stack look something like ass/hips/hips/hips/ass/hips/thighs/hips/hips/hips/hip/ass/hips/thighs/hips/face/hips/face/hips/face/hips/face/hips/face/hips/ass/hips

Well I actually get half a marlin every year from my parents for free so I do eat that for about 3 months multiple times per week

1lb of swordfish per day is clearly insane though
People can't even stomach eating 1lb of chicken every day, we crave variety for a reason

I am at 135kg, started at 195kg. 30%bf.

I have two unrelated questions.
First one being what's my theoretical maximum for fat loss without too much muscle loss until june 1st or june 22nd at the latest?

Second one is a video I watched and something that happened recently to me reminded me of that is that yeah people treat me better and all that and girls laugh at my jokes w/e my confidence is high, BUT I am never good enough to be first pick for the girls. I am always there in the backup, second choice, third choice.
Does that get better?

Mate, I promise you do not have 207lbs of lean body mass underneath your fat. Unless you're really fucking tall and roiding and lifting for years, that's just not the case.
>>
>>77172373

English is not my native language so perhaps there is lack of clarity on my part.

They will laugh, message with me, go out with me, invite me to the coffee and then drop that they have a bf or their friend will drop that they have a bf or they will say they like me after I tell them I like them but do everything for us to never be a thing. Or we will relentlessly tease and insult eachother, but when she has a bad day and i reach out to ask is everything okay she will respond "oh ffs, pick a lane"

perhaps this is not /fat/ related question, but i thought it is

>>
>>77172387

>>
>>77172368
Fastest way to lose fat while preserving as much as possible is something like PSMF, which is basically eating almost exclusively protein, keeping fat and carbs to the absolute minimum. Vegetables for micros are allowed. On top of that, you would want to do intense, low volume lifting several times per week to stimulate muscles and prevent as much atrophy as possible. To speed the weight loss up further, you can walk a shitload or otherwise do very low intensity high volume cardio.

A typical PSMF at your weight would be something like 900 cals/day. You can calculate your TDEE, assume 3500 calories per pound of fat, and from that you can calculate your maximum amount of weight loss by those dates. A good approximation is 3lbs/week of fat loss with a perfectly adhered to PSMF with a good amount of walking. You'll need to supplement electrolytes, sleep well, have generally low stress.

It's a brutal but extremely effective diet.
>>
>>77172227
There is a substance that by some biochemistry magic targets fat stores specifically in the stomach area: Yohimbine. You can read about it, the studies are easy to find.

That shit sucks though, you have to do it fasted and it feels weird in a bad way, very elevated heart rate, anxiety inducing, sweat inducing, gives you raging hard ons too. I wouldn't fuck with it, but it does work to spot reduce fat around the abdomen.
>>
>>77172361
I will commit to chickenmaxxing (eat 1lb of chicken everyday for a year) if you mercurymax (eat 1lb of swordfish everyday for a year).

>>77172423

Think of your fat like a stack of plates, the last place (bottom of the stack) you lose fat is usually the first place you gain it back, your body has this order it likes to stack your fat deposits and the order of everyone's fat stack is different.

I see. I usually followed ~180g of protein and ~1500kcal (started with 1200) since I started my weightloss journey in May. But progress has been slow in the past 2 months, but I did happen to slip a lot of times.

IDK how am I even supposed to fit 200g of protein in 900kcal? Protein milk I buy is 305kcal for 50g of protein or strawberry flavour 30g for 165kcal.

I started lifting very recently, But I go to the gym 5+ times a week. I can't really find a sweet spot for that low volume high intensity lifting. I either can do 2-3 reps or 10+. I guess it's psychological.

I was thinking about trying peptides, I have never been lean or normal looking in my life and I really wish to be this summer.

>>
>>77172454
yes, I understood the general metaphor, just not why you listed some parts multiple times. makes sense if you count each occurrence as fixed weight.
I'd liken the distribution to a capped percentage.
Of 1kg of new fat, 50% is going to your belly, 30% to legs, 15% to ass etc., but with each part having a cap (except for your belly, that part seems to be able to grow indefinitely, lmao)
>>
>>77172477
The top of my stack (as far as I explored its limits) was just ass/ass/ass/ass/ass/ass/ass, my belly capped out long before my ass did.
>>
>>77172473
Thanks, it's def a bit weird cause I tried pushing through it and it went away during the cardio but the next day I can feel the knee throb a bit with pain and little numb here and there so idk if I should be worried or not

Pushing through pain is a meme unless you're a competitive athlete willing to risk long term injury for short term wins. You're best starting at a lower level than you think you want to until your body gets used to moving more than the distance between the couch and the bathroom.

I buy a bunch of lean meats and cook them with very low calorie sides. My staples are 93/7 or 95/5 ground beef, chicken breast, cod. Cod for example is 80g of protein for 360 cals in 1lb, extremely lean meat.
>>
>>77172518
if it's seated exercise it's probably not a legit "grinding my joints to dust under my weight" kind of issue and just some strain from using muscles that don't get used much with high intensity. i also went from 100% sedentary to exercising with a stationary bike a few months ago and had it cause some pain in one knee in the beginning. i was seeing an occupational therapist at the time and asked them if they thought i should take time off and their comment was that it's normal and not to worry about it unless it's getting progressively worse, and no need to reduce exercise in the meantime. i think if it becomes really acutely painful during the exercise and not just like "feels kinda sore/weird" you should slow down of course.
you may already know this if you're not retarded like me but when i started with the stationary bike i used to do it in socks, but switching to wearing shoes makes the ergonomics a lot better and helped reduce strain on my knees

Zero Coke can affect your health in the following ways:
1. Caffeine at irregular times can fuck with your sleep which isn't ideal
2. Like most drinks, very bad for your teeth
3. It costs a lot of money

There's no other issue with it to be had but water is always going to be superior. Tea in general is fine for you. Worse for your teeth than water, cheaper than coke. I don't think you necessarily need stevia for tea but if you like it there's no real issue with it.
>>
>>77172667
No they have prebiotics and help develop your gutflora to better digest
They're not just added fiber
>>
>>77172667
Yeah but they’re easier on the gut. For a while I was eating broccoli and green beans for fiber and would get diarrhea afterwards before going back to being constipated. I am simply saying what has worked best in my experience, not claiming ferments are the only thing that can fix gut problems.
>>
>>77172667

>>
>>77172673
>>77172677

yeah ive tried both kimchi and saurkraut and i dont really like them, maybe i can get some of those probiotic yogurts.
>>
So I've been experimenting with saving almost all my calories for the day to be eaten within a 2.5 hour window before lifting on gym days and then having a bunch of carbs
The deficit is just catching up with me bad lately and I've been very flat so this has made me feel a bit less shitty and did show immediate improvement in performance
Downside is I need to be really hungry all morning now. gotta wait about 2 more hours to eat unfortunately
>>
>>77172680
Here's what I do:
Greek Yogurt (vanilla flavor)
2 tbspn chia seeds
Some frozen raspberries or blueberries
A few crushed walnuts
and a grape fruit on the side every morning

then you can get more fiber throughout the day through keto wraps/buns, veggies with dinner, an apple, quinoa etc.

The most important thing with a lot of fiber though is to keep in mind that sudden increases can take awhile to adjust to and that you need to drink a lot of water. More water than you think you need. The mix of soluble and insoluble throughout the day + the probiotics from the yogurt will have your gut running so smooth that tyrone can put it in without prep if you're inclined that way.

veggies have little fiber, fermented ones even less so. but they are considered PRObiotics (PREbiotics are things that ferment readily and are largely nutritionless otherwise, like inulin). regardless, fermented foods can be great for constipation and IBS and will impact your gut flora

false. the dead bacteria modulate the immune system in the gut and provide comparable benefits to live cultures. a surprising and cool find.

For years I've been doing a pointless e-learning course at work about how to carry things. That's a great answer to a question i didn't ask, anon. I can appreciate that you're trying to keep the calories down but it's the deficit in question that's the bottleneck, not the absolute calories. Gonna try asking again; what is your actual deficit? Additionally, revise the calorie counting. My next suggestion is going to be you're underestimating the amount of calories you're consuming.

Averaging probably 1000 calorie deficit per day. Maybe a bit less than that. I’m only eating once per day, and it’s either salmon, steak, chicken, or bacon and eggs, sometimes with a side of vegetables or a handful of nuts

im still not getting what youre trying to prove here. chubby and fat are two different things so ofc when women say they like chubby dudes they dont mean men that look similar to the ones i posted. is what youre looking for a woman who is into bigger guys without it being a fetish or something?
>>
>>77173318
I mean you're not gaining, at least, but something needs to give. If your weight has only changed -0.4lbs since the 13th, it's not going to magically start decreasing now for no reason.

No matter what way you slice it, even accounting for water weight, two weeks of -1000kcal WOULD produce measurable weight loss. CICO is law, you're either eating more calories than you think or not expending as many as you think.

Revisit your TDEE and your actual calorie count (if you live in the US there are retarded metrics like "per serving" which can fuck you up). Good luck!
>>
>>77173321

My goal is/was to do a single one-armed pushup, either arm. I kinda realized I've been working out for three years+ and I didn't really do pushups prior to, or at least not consistently or part of a routine.

I started around November-December using a deck of cards. Felons kinda have the right idea, it helps my pacing and it's easy to keep track during and later. I don't do burnouts, just full range of motion and take my time with them.

My single set record atm is 330~ in about a 2 hour session. My current variant instead of tacking on 5s or below to the next card, I want to pace myself to complete a full deck one day, I do all of the five of diamonds and below as diamond pushups.

Said fuck it and tried archers today after already hitting 290 already out over two sessions earlier today. Did 3x10 sets of dips off the side of my prior to and tried some tips on form and it fucking worked.

Managed to hit about 15 total per arm over like 3 and a half sets.

Your brain loves you being fat, it guarantees it ample supplies of it's favorite type of fuel. Now that you're exercising, it fears losing this delicious snack-pantry and is sending signals to its closest ally your hormonal system to divert gains to muscles instead of fat loss to trick you into thinking you can't lose any more. Don't fall for this deception, stay strong and eventually your brain will be forced to relent.

Hello Anons.

Starting weight: 126kg
Current weight: 102kg
Goal weight: 90kg

Lost it over the last 1.5 years. Ton of muscle from 7 years lifting. My lifts are 2/3/4/5.25. According to my last dexa I am ~25% bodyfat. I've got 2 visible abs and look quite good but my goal is 90kg which should be near 15% bodyfat.

I've meticulously counted calories. I do atleast 10k steps a day. Train 4 times a week. Zone 2 cardio 30mins x 4 a week. I believe I've down-regulated my metabolism. Most of the weight that I've lost has actually been from a 9 day fast and oddly 2-3 alcohol benders.

Currently I'm eating ~2100 calories. My BMR according to DEXA is ~2300. Calories from walking/zone 2 stairmaster/etc I've got at 700 which is the lowest range of the estimate. I am not factoring in calories burnt from training or other activity. My maintenance should be within the 3000-3300 range yet I cannot lose weight on 2100 calories a day.

Things I am experimenting with:
>I ate 2500 calories last 2 months upping it from 2000 calories prior and did not gain any weight which supports my thesis
>tried retatrutide (1-2mg) and mots-c to break through the plateau, didn't do anything but I will try upping to 4mg and see how it goes for the next month
>going to try experiment with SLU-PP-332 see if that does anything (not holding my breath)
>going to try SLEEPMAXX, currently I only get about 7 hours a day, I will have to literally commute>work>commute>gym>straight to sleep in order to pull this off which is going to be depressing as fuck leaving me zero time to decompress/relax during the week
>if all else fails I will try force feeding myself to up-regulate my metabolism/lower cortisol again, I see YTers that up carbs by 100-150 calories per week/every other week until weight gain before cutting again by 200-300 calories and re-assessing

Anyway curious to see if anyone else is in a similar boat. Goodluck fellas.

I think the TDEE estimates are lying to me
I don't know how I can continue to make my deficit smaller and smaller, quite literally as minimal as possible that it's making me dizzy to even stand up, and upping my exercise to where I'm now doing cardio in the morning and strength in the evening every day, and still the scale goes up
This shit don't make a lick of sense

I don't know how you niggas are stalling if you're doing what you say you're doing. I've been losing 2-2.5 lbs per week, sometimes over 3lbs, every single week for months. I still lift several times a week, I follow the same eating schedule but eat different stuff each week, mostly just omad not really counting calories.
I only weigh myself once a week, the same time every week, and make sure the conditions are as consistent as possible. There is literally no point in weighing yourself every day if every single one of those numbers is inaccurate inconsistent garbage from water/food/shit weight.

It is possible to plateau while still losing weight, it's why you should measure your waist instead of relying exclusively on the scale. Once I plateau'd for like a month then dropped 25 lbs all at once it seemed like.

>>
>>77174029
are you sure you actually lost weight or have you just been making lifestyle improvements but not weighing yourself/counting calories to verify you're at a net caloric deficit? if you have been losing weight but only from everywhere but the belly, that's unfortunately fairly common for men and especially if alcohol is/was a problem. the beer belly may not budge at all until you're getting really skinny. in that case make sure your exercise routine includes lifting to make sure it's as much fat and as little muscle going away as possible.
and congrats on cutting down on the drinking. that was a pretty major component of my weight gain too. life is brighter without it.

Last weighed 258lbs last week, the scale showed 262lbs yesterday and 264lbs today. Height is 5'10".
My diet has been simplified down to a cup of greek yogurt (180cal) in the morning, 5g of creatine in water, a protein bar for lunch (190cal), two scoops of whey in water (250cal) in the afternoon, and then some frozen healthy choice type dinner, usually around 300~500 calories and 20g protein.
Absolutely nothing added to any of this. I've cut every single other factor that could be adding calories out. I used to eat a piece of fruit with each meal for extra carbs and fiber. Used to have a cup of coffee with creamer in the morning. Used to cook my own meals and take a tuna or chicken salad wrap to lunch. Used to drink an extra protein shake to get more protein. All slowly cut to get out of this plateau over the past few weeks and swapped purely to prepackaged things where I know exactly how many calories I'm getting in a day assuming the back of the package isn't lying.

Exercise has been ramped up too over the past week or two. I used to do high intensity cardio 2 nights a week, then progressive overload lifting 3 nights a week.
I now do 1-2 hours of steady fast paced walking every day and lift 5 nights a week then wind down with a 20 minute incline treadmill walk at a moderate pace.
The only thing I can think is all of these changes in both diet and exercise is causing some sort of retention in my body. Either water or waste or both. Though I just dropped a deuce so probably not the latter.

That's me at 16.4kg (36.16lb) lost since January 5th.

SW - 121.0kg (266.8lb)
CW - 104.6kg (230.6lb)
GW - 86kg (189.6lb)

Trying to reach that goal by beginning of July.

14 weeks - to lose 18kg (39lb)
>>
>>77174240
Okay so first of all that's only 1120 calories from what you told me. You can afford to eat a little more. In fact, you probably need to.

Packages generally aren't lying but there's an acceptable difference of like 10% iirc. But you're so low calorie that it doesn't matter.

You're lifting too much, add rest days. Cardio every day is fine but doesn't have to be high intensity.

You're likely on a plateau. Don't weigh yourself every day dude. Weigh yourself once a week at most. If you want to be more accurate, measure your waist every two weeks. You're not doing anything wrong and you're probably still losing weight.

Thanks. Yeah maybe I'll go back to my old diet. Like I said, despite the scale not only not moving but going up I've been having bouts of dizziness and my lifts have been suffering ever since I started cutting out the fruit and extra protein, so maybe I just need to stick to a small deficit and not an extreme one.
Might just dial it back to a M-W-F lift schedule too.

I saw some family that I have not seen in months when we gathered for my grandfather's final night on this Earth a few days ago and many of them were very positive about noticing the difference. I wish he had been able to speak, but at least he survived long enough to see each of his grandchildren.

Looking at my objectives now. My planned target was 220lbs, and I'm 118 pounds away from that original goal now. It used to seem so far away.
I've been back and forth on changing my goal to 200lbs or 185lbs. I think it might be more reasonable to aim for 200lbs and focus on recomp for a while when I get there.

Anyone know how someone needs to eat to keep oneself out of Starvation Mode for a few days while keeping up with light exercise.
Its the end of the month and due to some intensive spending for family birthdays, I am down to coffee, half a loaf of bread and two jars of sugarless Peanut Butter till I get paid on Monday which isn't great nutrition wise but also I don't want to fuck up and let the calorie hording mode kick in while I'm trying to lose weight
>>
>>77175073
There is no such thing as starvation mode, your body doesn't have a mechanism to lower energy usage below a baseline other than to slow down your metabolism which takes a long time, much longer than a few days of low/no food. You'll be fine.

Starvation mode isn't real.
If it was, we would see it in countries with low access to food, or in the concentration camps.

Jesus h christ this stall is pissing me off. Been up and down in weight like crazy all week despite maintaining my 800 cal deficit, even went to 1000 for a couple days to try and break it. Yesterday i was up almost 3 lbs at weigh in, The only thing I can think I've done different is I managed to get a good deal on some 93% lean ground beef instead of my usual chicken, i don't think that would be enough to cause this much water retention though. Hopefully this coming week will be better with progression. Also pls fix fatty contest.

>Been up and down in weight like crazy all week
There is no advantage to weighing yourself every day, especially when you're clearly not trying to do it under consistent conditions. You obsessing over the number every day is not helping. A small 800 cal deficit each day isn't even a quarter of a pound, I don't know what you're hoping to see on the scale every time. I recommend a larger deficit because whatever tdee you calculated is only an estimate at best, and there is always a large margin of error in calorie counting.

It really depends on your fat distribution. I did a dexa scan, and the upper to lower body fat ratio was 1.04:1.

Scale was within 2% of bfr of the dexa scan. So if your lower body fat rate is almost equal then they are not too bad actually.

The again that's not ideal, you should have less upper body fat.
