>Who is /fat/ for?
For Cannoli Cowboys who are working towards a longer life and a better physique through meaningful hard-work, strategy, and dedication. This is not QTDDTOT, stick to questions on fat loss. Post height and weight when asking for advice.
Join our Fatty Contest: https://www.fattycontest.com/

>What do I do first?
1. Read https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/
2. Calculate your Body Fat Percentage: https://fitness.bizcalcs.com/Calculator.asp?Calc=Body-Fat-Navy
3. Calculate your TDEE: https://www.sailrabbit.com/bmr/
Remember to use bodyfat% and use Katch-McArdle Formula with sedentary settings or your TDEE will be too high.
4. Plan your weight loss: https://www.losertown.org/eats/cal.php
5. Track your nutrition with MyFitnessPal (better for packaged food), Cronometer (better for generic food/macros), LoseIt (great for both), or Waistline (FOSS).

>Now what?
Count calories, all of them.
Eat about 500-1000 less calories than your TDEE.
Buy scales, be accurate.
Learn to cook. Try to stick to lean protein and green vegetables.
Eat a lot of protein. 0.72g per pound of goal lean body mass.
Doing cardio, even just walking, will improve your health. There is no such thing as a healthy fat heart, but you can offset the risks.
Lifting weights will keep and gain muscle mass and lose fat much quicker. No lifting results in the body eating away muscle AND fat.
Drink more water.
Read the /fit/ sticky: https://liamrosen.com/fitness.html

>DON'T
Eat refined sugars, they're terrible for you regardless of calories.
Eat processed foods.
Drink your calories (alcohol, soda, Starbucks).
Freak out over a weight loss stall. Plateaus can last up to three weeks.
"Reward" yourself. Cheat days cheat only yourself.

I need to get back to basics. I tried getting too fancy with my weight loss meals, when all I really need is basic things on a plate, some meat, veg and a potato. For me, dieting has to feel like a chore, I need to feel like I am hurting myself to keep myself accountable. I tried getting creative with my meals and listening to youtuber fancy ass meals and all I did was lose motivation to track and get fat again.
>>
Anyone else grown to resent your parents for letting you get and stay fat as a kid?
A little better parenting on their behalf and it would've saved me so much hardship, not to mention all the things relationships and social aspects I've missed out on cause of it all.
>>
>>77248470
Isn't that the opposite of it feeling like a chore? Making it fancy is way more troublesome that simple meals.

>>77248486
I know how you feel, but it's not worth falling out with your parents over.

i dropped like 200 pounds(10 pounds left), have some loose skin, but i'm wondering how much of that loose skin is adding to my weight. for all i know, i might be closer to my goal weight than i thought.

i suppose if i'm asking myself this, i probably should've been lifting yesterday
>>
>>77248490
>not worth falling out with your parents over.
I'd beg to differ
I've brought this up to them since starting my weight loss journey, albeit with kinder phrasing, and they just give the same bullshit excuse of how I was a difficult child. It's not like they didnt know any better either, they nor any of my siblings are fat at all.
>>
>>77248486
There's a certain age you have to stop blaming your parents even if it is their fault.
>>
>>77248490
yeh, chore wasnt the right word. Meant to say food needs to feel like its not an enjoyment, but just fuel.

i ate on the 3rd 4th and 6th
I'm just going to do normal (ish) fasting for a few days at a time. nothing like a month long fast, at least not right now.
could consider it a failure but we'll see on sunday, which is when i plan to eat next.
I think after the 10th I'll just switch over to eating every 3rd day.
maybe next month. by then I'll be much more used to fasting.

definitely british. you tards have the worst case of self delusion when it comes to military achievement and you think incompetent command sending millions of exceptionally competent soldiers to die in a heap is "winning." Ignoring the fact that the USA comes in at the end and absolutely blitzes the fuck out of Germany (twice). We fought in the short part of both those wars you caused because we end wars. Unfortunately that's not the case anymore we give sandbox playpens to boomers who want to play command and send young men to get blown up by muzzies. But when it's time to go band for band with WHITE people, the only type of war that actually matters, USA is without equal and since Germany's military tradition got gutted it's not even close anymore.

I don't think old Clausewitz said that losing every single war you fight to local militias means "military tradition".

This sounds like a really sad cope after having failed to archive any political objective, a complete defeat in Clausewitz's term. Like saying it was not a complete failure because actually there was no attempt to succeed in the first place.

Just as this "well, we only lost to very weak militias, but we fought" sounds like a cope.

Also, have you actually read On War, or just some snippets like:

Haven't every single piece of US hardware been shown to be too unreliable or outright useless when tested in actual combat? I still remember when people were claiming Patriots, THAAD and Aegis would stop some shitty Iranian missile.

There's a saying that goes "the only piece of American equipment that works is one that has not been tested yet".

Honestly I'm just gonna impasse at this point. I don't think this discussion is going anywhere, maybe that's my fault. Have a good one.

After having to cope with "actually, the US could win, it just choose to lose on purpose" is there anything else you can say? This is the ultimate cope.

i've consumed 350 calories in the last 19 hours and 1,800 calories yesterday and i'm currently peckish instead of ravenously hungry.
i've moved my candies consumption to right after my main meals to slow down the glucose absorption to avoid a spike and it seems to curb down the constant hunger and candies cravings.

Weight loss is going well but if I walk more than 10km a day for 4+ days in a row, my right knee shuts down for the next week. What's the best alternative for burning calories in a relaxed way? Unfortunately the local swimming pools have all jacked up their prices so it's such a waste. I previously cycled after the knee pain and managed to make it home feeling a lot better but it was one of those rented e-bikes, I'm not sure how many calories I'd realistically lose with something like that compared to a real bike which isn't even an option since local kids will steal it at every opportunity.
I'm not looking for excuses, just some options and the shit I see online about the calories burned is all over the place.

It is what ive been doing, luckily I went back on my stimulant dosage for my adhd and thats doing an ok job of controlling my appetite and making me go the gym. It's just i've seen everyone on on tik tok defending this thing like its the new solution for weight loss, and after looking into it it was just another glp-1 inhibitor but is much better at burning fat and preserving muscle. But if you point that out to anyone on the drug you get swarmed by individuals claiming its safe both short term and long term.

Had 200g of quark as a morning snack, then another one at morning gym, then one after workout (+banan). Cardio there and back, 70min total. At home 50g of soi mince + oats. Nap. After nap 200g of quark. Now I'm hungry. Will go for a jog with the neighborino and have a soup mash of chicken curry + minestrone with added soi, oil and pasta.
And quark. Of course.

The quark is my candy. And I need my candy for my push workout tomorrow.

For the fatties who are now entering the "overweight" category from obese - just know that you're at the point where locking in for 8-12 months will result in a complete transformation of how you look. I know the majority of the fat loss phase doesn't significantly change how you look, but just remember that day will come. I wish more people emphasized how achievable it is to end up looking fit once you're out of the "obese" category. Locked in for a year and I look like a different person now. Just wish I had done it sooner. GL anons WAGMI

I'm down from 350lbs (6'3") to 214lbs now. Attempting to halt at 15% body fat around 203lbs (my estimate). I'll then stall there until skin catches up more, and move to 12%. The trick is going slow and using OMAD for peak autophagy along the way. Also incorporate collagen peptides, L-Lysine, and Glycine.

Posted this in another thread, but figured I'd drop it here too.

update on the edible deenz recipe
i squeezed a whole lemon on a can of deenz after draining the oil, diced half an onion, sprinkled a bunch of cumin and let it sit for 30 minutes.

The weird thing is that I haven't necassarily cut down on sugar though. I let myself have up to 15g of free sugar a day through small things like a few biscuits but I'm now regularly eating fruit which is pretty sugary. It's not the same as free sugar sure but sugar is still sugar.

Your body is thanking you for the fruit.

you slim down by eating less calories.
obviously its not good to eat processed sloppa, it can have other effects but you could eat nothing but mcdonalds all day every day and lose weight providing you eat a calorific deficit. Of course it's not "healthy" to do so. But you can lose weight, if that's the only goal.

>>
>>77250132
Your skin profile is pretty collagenic. You'll snap back pretty well. Get ready for a lot of subcutaneous fat though. Which will basically look like loose skin as you get more lean. It's not. It's just very watery jello like fat that fills awkward areas of untightened skin until it goes away and the skin starts laying more against the muscle. There will be a small lower ab pouch, but should tighten up over time as well.

Was on a evening walk with my neighbor last evening. This one in a million, absolutely stunning being passed us jogging.

I've risen my standards quite high as of late. All the attention I'm getting from young women at the gym is fun, but I've been more inclined to stay single for the rest of my life. Balance, peace and drama-free existence is the true hallmark of survival (yes, yes, I get the irony of saying this on a chinese research chemical forum). Women are just batshit crazy nowdays.

Chili can absolutely be very healthy. I’m actually struggling to think of a way to make it “unhealthy” without pouring a bunch of cheese, sour cream and cornbread on it. Going for an efficiently high protein/fiber meal:
>ground beef (lean as you want)
>beans
>canned diced tomatoes
>peppers
>onions
>spices
Add more vegetables if you need to bulk it up. Shred a zucchini or two and add it in, it melts into the background and gives a thick texture. Add a dollop of Greek yogurt and some low fat cheese and you’ll have a really filling bowl of food for like 500 cal. Look up Chef John’s green chicken chili for another healthy and easy chili variation

You've been stagnant for nearly two months, you should probably reevaluate your plan at this point because it looks like you've stalled out. What's your deficit?
>>
>>77250960
I wouldn't say "stagnant'. Easter set me back, but I'm on a downward trend again.
The rabbit calculator puts me at ~2550 TDEE, which seems generous to me, but assuming that's true I'm on a 800 kcal deficit.
>>
>>77250927
i looked it up and i think i'll be OK
thank you for the heads up though anon i'll be mindful
also i miscalculated it was 16 over 32 days.

Do you hate retaining muscle?
>>

This is also why it can be beneficial to get on Allopurinol while doing a deep deficit from being super fat

This. If you're not used to exercising at all you should definitely get used to walking more, but do more intense cardio and strength practice too for anything approaching best results

no matter how i position my arms when doing a pushup i get this nasty clicking/grinding in one elbow and it ends up sore the next day. happens with benching and curling too but especially bad with pushups. praying it gets less bad as i lose more weight

It takes time for the gut to get used to something else than the laxative slop, aka American food. Probiotics, plum juice and continous intake of fiber and water help.

I'm 180cm 100 kg (5'11 220 lbs in American units)

I want to lose weight and get fit but I can't go to the gym

Can running and bodyweight exercises be enough?
>>
>>77251209
Check your form, sometimes Tricep pain feels close to the elbow but not in the ligament, and the "clicking" is probably due to short tendons, check online for some self-tests to see if you have it, you can visit a specialist as well.
>elbow pain during curls
Are you doing spider/preacher curls? Some of us don't have the tendon length for them, in my case those hurt near my wrists. Don't worry Bicep Curls and Cables can still grow your Biceps as long as you don't cheat with your Front Delts.
>>
>>77251280
Yes anon, creating a deficit through diet is easier than through exercises anyways, the weight lifting part is recommended to retain muscle/develop muscle. You look fit by being low bodyfat.

Is eating a hard boiled egg the answer to everything? With the price of them having gone down again they are easily my favorite thing to eat now. Slice of rye bread, hard boiled egg cut in half, mayonnaise and pepper. I can last several hours on just one. Have already lost a few kilos doing this.
I fucking love hard boiled eggs.

well done, anon. I remember finally leaving the constant hypertension area myself. it felt so good.

>I want to lose weight
Just eat less, that part is easy. Nothing else needed besides eating less. You don't even have to work out to do this. Just figure out how many calories you're eating, then eat less than that, how much less will determine how thin you get.
> and get fit
>Can running and bodyweight exercises be enough?
That depends on what you mean by fit, show us your goal body. What do you want to look like.

>>
>>77251320
Having excess skin is absolutely the result of gluttony, retard. And making someone else pay for your surgery is wrong.
>>
>>77251044
that's just an outlier most likely because i pigged out on 4k calories 3 days before.
i can never eat that low and usually hover around 1,600 calories. i am already over 1,000 calories today.
i ate deenz.
>>
>>77250745
Plateaus can be smashed through extra long cardio sessions and light eating.
>>
>>77251280
get a pair of adjustable dumbbells, a pull up bar, a resistance band(s) and an adjustable bench.
bam
you have a home gym now.
>>
>>77251323
But skin surgery totals less than an obese persons' strain on the healthcare system. So it's cheaper.
>>
>>77251288
maintaining good form with elbows tucked in more helps but it's pretty painful regardless, not sure it's the tricep since the pain is pretty localized right around the end of the ulna at the elbow. i do think i have short tendons at least in my legs, like i've never been able to touch my toes even when i've been thin and i need to put books under my heels to squat. never considered that it might apply to my arms as well.
i've just been doing standing curls and standing hammer curls (don't actually have a bench or gym access right now). the pain comes when i extend my elbow back to the starting position and it's also only just in my elbow, wrist is fine
thank you for the tips, maybe i can articulate this properly to my doctor next time i see them

>>

Less energy is normal, if it gets too much in the way of your normal life, unironically, try more cardio and maybe a bit more carbs.
What helped me a lot was to space out the carb budget more over the day. And cardio in moderation, like an hour every second day or so, just gives you more energy in general.

Rather buy from a store, there's atleast one producer if you're from the states. If you're serious about cheesemaking read a quark related online guide. It's not that hard, but picking up the right milk and lactic bacteria can get hard by just trial and error. And you're European you can get it anywhere for cheap. Propably the cheapest animal protein around.

75.6 kg today. Down from 79 kg last month.

eating tons of cauliflower and broccoli, with some white fish here and there. Avoid high carb content shit like wheat, potatoes or corn. Starch is your enemy. Always add seasoning if you find your food boring. Even something as simple as black pepper and salt made a pack of cauliflower yummy af. Hard cheeses are also great but in moderation due to high caloric content.

Worst case scenario it's a 500kcal deficit, best case it's 800-1000kcal.
I don't know how to calculate my activity level, since I only go to the gym 2 days a week, but I do 3h30hr each day because It saves me commute time and going for that long it's fun.
>>77251865

>>77251854
you can either hop on a drug or cut carbs entirely too

I'm not all that informed on the matter, but I would say that if you exercise regularly and have a good protein intake one day a week of fasting shouldn't lose you much, if any, of your muscle mass.

im trying to get down to 15% bf. I’m at around 20ish sayth tape measure. can I do that with 5-700 cal deficit and moderate exercise or do I have to lock tf in.

To be honest, I look at what I do at the gym now and this would probably close to sufficient. If I had some dip bars and maybe a pull up bar and some dumbells and adjustable bench I think I would be sorted. Perhaps 1year of gym fees would cover this outlay.

yeah really no substitutes for this.

for me its the 50 pound home depot bucket of sand. decline push ups, swings, squats, take the lid off for forearm exercises in the sand, dip station, raised block for calisthenics. Cost me $5. 3 and change for the bucket, 2 for the lid.

Slower loss this week, but I'm getting closer to that first goal of being at or below 300lbs by August 23rd.
I recently cut my hair a lot shorter and people at work have said that the combination of the 100+ pounds gone and shorter hair makes me look younger than my age now. That's been nice.
A lot of my button up shirts are way too large (5XLs, I'm down to a 3XL for most brands now) so I've been using them almost like jackets.
>>
>>77252049
also for the bucket its super uncomfortable to hold so it juices your grip real nice. a little bit of imagination goes a long way with it. I'm sure you can think of more exercises, it's basically a giant unwieldy kettlebell
