I hate the fucking letter/number ones. I always have to check twice with those.

Any version of Windows since 1995 has been more polished, production-ready and user-friendly than any Linux distro ever made. That's obvious to anybody who has installed both of them on the same machine.

Are Linux users just lying about their distros being a better experience than a Windows installation?

I can give a decent take on this since im.brand new to linix after using windows my whole life and being a die hard windows 10 user
I bit the bullet and forced myself to use linux bazzite on my main machine

Took me 3 days with heavy assistance from chat gpt and grok but ive had no downsides aside from fuck ups that i myself caused

Its not that hard to adjust, but simple QOL things windows has had for decades like changing a desktop icon to a custom one you downloaded by right clicking and not having to mess with terminal and look up commands.
Another good one is downloading programs, yes you can download a flatpak with a store or just install it with a command, but people are familiar with .exe and an install wizard.
I had to run some commands so my drives that were plugged in would actually just automount at boot, i still havent figured out how to get open RGB to auto load my profile on boot when the Logitech software on windows did it without issue
Not everyone wants to re-learn something theyve used for decades nor does everyone have a free weekend to install and troubleshoot things until they get thier copy working. I can set up windows and download all the programs i need in about 20 to 30 minutes,

Linux fags mostly consist of people that come to linux hate windows for various reasons but dont want to admit the reasons why windows is as popular amongst the average layperson as it is
The other type of person is someone who is willing to put up with all of it for the sale of personal autonamy and privacy, so they were never the market for windows in the first place

Until theres a distro that understands this, linux will remain this neat little odd OS to the average consumer, you need to make a distro for not just windows users

Look you probably just need ffmpeg to change the fileformat into a universal format so it can be read by a paint like program.

1) GOTO: ffmpeg.org/download.html
2) Click the operating system image
3) Download necessary file for your operating system
4) Extract the file from the .zip
5) Move your video file to the ffmpeg???\bin folder
6) Open up a command prompt at the ffmpeg???\bin folder location
7) Type "ffmpeg -i <inputFileName> <outputFileName>" in your command prompt/command line to convert your file

I assume this is in response to analog - the game needs to be specifically coded to read it rather than it just sorta working with any game that supports analog gamepad input?
I feel like there's probably a lot of games I play that the devs would never put in the effort to code for a niche keyboard type.

I know this is mech keyboard general, but as keyboard lovers, what are your guys thoughts on magnetic keyboards? They look like a really interesting technology. Thinking about getting one at least to try out, but they're quite expensive.

I know tactile is a word in its own right and needn't mean the switches are the 'tactile variety' by what on earth is specially tactile about a mechanical keyboard with linear switches? Compared to any other keyboard on earth this is not what I would call a tactile keyboard
>>

I run super low actuation linear switches but I'd still at least say I get more feedback than shitty chiclet or membrane keyboard

It's gonna get worse.
Microsoft replaces all Windows code (it might be named Windows 12 by then) with Rust.

Windows was written with C/C++. They want to replace those lines with Rust.

https://www.thurrott.com/dev/330980/microsoft-to-replace-all-c-c-code-with-rust-by-2030

Microsoft plans to eliminate all C and C++ code across its major codebases by 2030, replacing it with Rust

>using AI-assisted, large-scale refactoring.

"Goal is to eliminate every line of C and C++ from Microsoft by 2030," Microsoft writes in a post on LinkedIn.

"Our strategy is to combine AI and Algorithms to rewrite Microsoft's largest codebases. Our North Star is '1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code.'

I am still rocking the same old WIndows 10, last updated in in 2019 as i have always done for the past 6 years. i am even making a whole blog on https://desuarchive.org/_/search/boards/g.desu.meta/text/last%20updated%20in%202019/ about it, given that as far back as 2022 i knew that this may be the last OS i will ever had with the last updates and so on.
The whole idea of Microsoft to kill/replace Windows with AI Windows or whatever is all good as it makes the cattle suffer. we already have the last needed version of windows and it will be 7 years old in a few day
We already have Agartha.

If I torrent a bunch of stuff and then extract the zip files, one of the zip files I extract will always extract directly into the desktop instead of the intended destination folder; the destination folder automatically gets created, but none of the files go in there, they just fill up the desktop. It's annoying as hell.

Using opensuse tumbleweed, I believe extraction happens through dolphin.

What do I do to fix this?

>there are people who still use BIOS over UEFI and turn off secure boot in the year 2025 on this board
What the fuck is your problem?

UEFI/GPT has been the standard for a decade. UEFI supports larger drives, boots faster because UEFI runs in 32/64-bit mode rather than 16-bit mode, handles initializing multiple hardware devices during boot better than BIOS/MBR, and supports modern hardware better than BIOS/MBR in general. Unless you have an ancient computer, it is almost certainly UEFI/GPT OTB.

I can't think of a reason to use BIOS/MBR if your computer supports UEFI/GPT.

I own the one in this pic and its really very poorly designed
Who tf thought the world map was a good idea? I work with people in LA, Miami, Zurich and Dubai, i bought this watch to help me keep track of time zones
I do not ever ever ever need to be reminded where the place is on a map lol
Also the teeny tiny digital analog clock in the top right. In case i dont feel like reading the regular size regular digital clock right below it.

Pic rel is a much more functional casio. Moon phase tracker and tide tracker so you can get out fishing any time your girl’s period is coming up. Also has a mathematical compass, it takes the current date and time & your approximate location in the world (which you program in) and tells you which way is north.

Only downside is the early-aught’s styling but i am certain this will become retrocool in the next decade or so.

>Feels like we're in for a rude awakening once there's adults in government again.
Stop this nonsense. Haven't you learned anything from the UK and Europe? The US democrats campaigned on the "we're not as evil as this weird fella" and they fucking lost.
The UK campaigned on a "eh, we'll see, vague change" campaign then lurched right, every single week in office past the "evil" and "nasty" party that they took over from.
The UK's Labour party, campaigned with reason like "the grown up will be back in charge" and Darren Jones, a front bencher in the cabinet and probably likely to be the next PM if people reject Streeting literally said the line on the morning of the election "the adults are back in the room".

Stop saying the meme line. They're not grown ups either. They're literally the same group of people beholden to the same people that give them donations, bought and paid for. They go to the same gyms.
You'll get a continuity government and you'll like it. They might lurch further right in an attempt to recapture a vote if that fossil with the half moon glasses ever dies and your media will villainise them for it, ready to revolve the door back around again once the financial crash is over because people fall for populism again.

There's no adults in modern politics, the only way you'll know that they're not on the take is if the media runs a relentless multi-year smear campaign against them and if "people" start referring to their policies as unworkable, serious and vibes based.

>They did so much better before everypne had smartphone cameras and internet.
>you now remember Ryan Fogle unshaven wearing a blonde wig and a baseball cap
Maybe it was always this way, but the nature of media changing was what exposed it.
I know we meme on people getting dumber over time and crims are naturally dumb, but in some ways I think part of the reason the agencies appear so incompetent is that the crims are more vigilant, exposed to the most basic of evasion techniques having seen it play out in media constantly.
Same with the CCTV angle, mass surveillance means people are more careful, and the agencies probably relied way too heavily on it in the past, newer investigators and operators are now the ones getting dumber over time as they start to rely on these tools instead of learning how to finesse it all.
