STOP MAKING FUN OF VIBE CODERS
73 replies and 9 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107602701
I don't like vibe coders, but the people I truly could never respect are those that use AI to write for them (like the redditor here). I stop reading the moment I notice AI generated writing because there is an asymmetry between the effort the person spent to "write" and the effort that I will have to spend to read and understand what was written.

Whenever I see an AI-generated post, the foremost thought I have is that the person who "wrote" it must have a brain that has completely atrophied from doing nothing all day but proooooooooompting and being a paypig for model providers. It signals one of two things: You don't know what to write and so you're asking AI to have even the most high level thoughts for you, which means there is literally zero authenticity or originality in your post, or you know what to write but feel the need to embellish it because of some personal insecurity (it's "too simple" or "too short" or "too ungrammatical"), and you do so in a way that disrespects your reader's time.

PS: There's no denying Generative AI is a transformative technology that is already quite useful for programming and will only become more useful in the future.

I'd really like to see AI asassins. Deadly, agile robots that are proficient in the use of a vast array of ranged and melee weapons. Robots that basically solve, "problems."

This only happens on Nvidia systems. I used to have this problem, switched to an AMD GPU and the problem immediately went away.

Used to be that I had to mess a lot with Linux to get a usable system and Windows just worked.
Now I have to mess with Chris Titus tool shit and microwin just to carve the trash out of windows and get something banal like a local account. All of that with the chance that a future feature update (which security updates are tied to now) reintroduces all of it or breaks things.
On the other end Linux just works, and thanks to proton, dxvk et al. this includes gaming.

AFAIK that was an upstream thing from Mozilla that LibreWolf forgot to patch out. LibreWolf replaces all strings containing "Firefox", so the "LibreWolf AI" screenshot makes it look like it's a feature they added themselves, even when it isn't

If you have polkit installed as a GUI dependency, there's no reason to use anything but pkexec. Installing other programs for the same job is just piling risk on top of risk.

Yes there's, if your graphical environment crashes then you essentially get locked out of your system, and if the problem is persistent with reboots then you can't fix the problem because it requires you to have root access to some config file in /etc.
The only way I see to fix a situation like this is to chroot and fix it from a live USB

No marketing. While Samsung and apple spends billions of usd to TV ads, online ads etc most Chinese brands only rely km online ad placements (in the west, I'm sure in China they market a lot for xiaomi and Co). Also they tend to sell a lot so they can get by smaller margins (apple and Samsung should too but their gains are offset by the amount of R&D and marketing they spend). Ps you can just download equivalent apps for file, gallery, music etc on xiaomi and other Chinese branded phones and never see a single ad. Or disable the mobile data & wifi of the system apps too

If you don't know, Redstar OS comes out of North Korea and the only reason we have it is because one build of it somehow leaked in 2015. There was another older leak of redstar os around 2005 and it was themed just like windows xp.

I read that you need to know calculus. Any tips for learning? Khan Academy or MIT OpenCourseWare?
As far as projects go, I'm starting off with a C 6502 emulator, already finished all the decoding stuff and now I'm using the Mame Apple I emulator as a cross reference to test it against AllSuiteA.asm from the verilog 6502 project.
What kind of electrical engineering knowledge should I persue? I've got the basics cause I played with Snap Circuits as a little kid.
Next I may purchase a real 6502, Arduino, STM32, or Risc-V CPU. As a long term goal I'd like to become an expert in Risc-V before the ISA matures.

It is pretty unrelated to embedded systems overall. I wouldn't call that the first must but also, you really should understand the basics of calculus regardless. Nothing hard about it unless you're 12.

I found rust embedded workflow to be quite interesting, probe-rs makes flashing and debugging quite easier, and there's embassy stuff for async. But I tried an stm32f4 I got my hands on and it was a pain, 2 HAL crates written, neither are compatible with each other and neither HALs were particularly usable. I guess it's rather hit and miss depending on your MCU. A Nordic board I had way better support.

Higher voltages are more efficient for metal light bulbs. The US started out with 110 volts because they were still using carbon-filament light bulbs. Then, by the time metal-filament light bulbs became mainstream, changing from 110 to 230 volts would have been astronomically expensive. Today, LED is mainstream and it runs on DC so there is no point in the entire voltage discussion. But basically higher voltages are more efficient for home appliances. Your city tram runs on 10000 volts.

>because there are 18 different grounding pin configurations in the EU?
There are three? Danish, Italian, and Schuko. French have their own bullshit connector but Schuko connectors can mate with either the french standard or the german one.
Older commie era houses may also have non-recessed, unearthed plugs but those are compatible with both europlug and schuko (sans grounding).
