Ok, now show the alternative to claude code that is not vibecoded. Oh, wait, it doesn't exist, or it contains vastly less features to the point that it's not even remotely worth using despite claude code having a few bugs here and there.
But I respect that you've done your homework and brought real examples to the table.
Cross platform TUI applications that have to support complex behavior like multi line input and paste support (for example distinguishing a newline from the keyboard from a newline that comes with the pasted text) are a pain in the ass to build and they are pretty much bound to have edge cases because a lot of stuff is hard to do without heuristics (if the text comes at a burst then it's a paste, if it comes with a few milliseconds in between it's the user typing, etc). And that's without getting into incompatibilities between terminal apps.
The only thing that probably comes close to that level of complexity might be emacs.

The GPT 4 family *sounds* good stylistically but is retarded (for modern standards) when it comes to intelligence. I was roleplaying a teenager in an orphanage with it and it completely changed the names of the residents from one scene to the next.
OpenAI was never able to make their non thinking models progress past 2024, and their thinking models haven't advanced noticeably since o1.
Both Gemini and Anthropic are kicking OpenAI's ass, as well as the Chinese distilling from those two.

By the end of 2026, there will be ~5,400 data centers being built or fully operational.

Each data center consumes as much energy as ~1,000,000 US households.

That would mean AI data centers will consume as much energy as nearly 1,000,000,000+ people, considering each household = 2-3 people.

Cost of electricity and hydro will cost 200-300% more by the end of 2026, since energy production in the US has remained stagnant for decades.

Is this sustainable?

eh, i've taken better photos on my oneplus 3t (2016, 16MP) than my galaxy s21 ultra ("108MP" which is binned to 12MP), mainly because the s21u doesn't allow for long exposure times. if you just use the ootb camera software with ootb post-processing, the s21u may look better, but if you actually try to manually plan out shots and take raws, it's debatable at best. i'm convinced most of the development in phone cameras are just down to how well they perform post-processing, not that the cameras are actually getting better

Samsung's flagships have a pro mode that lets you adjust exposure time (t. S23U owner), but yeah I've personally never been that impressed with the RAWs out of my S23U. I do have a vivo X90 Pro+ with a 1 inch main camera and the RAWs out of that look quite good. Fairly sharp, wide dynamic range, noise pattern that isn't too egregious, more accurate colors SOOC compared to Samsung. They look less like they came out of a phone camera and more like a decent p&s camera.

MPV on it's own is unusable since last time I checked it forces on screen controls onto you. At least not without going full tranny with a bunch of configs and shit. Using it with wrappers is pretty nice however. Haruna is probably the best media player I've used so far, other than maybe good old MPC.

Haven't used VLC properly in like 6 years but i remember switching because it was shit at handing some file types.

This is not a drill, it's finally confirmed that China has a working EUV prototype since early 2025, it's just undergoing testing and verification right now, expected to enter large scale production by 2028-2030.

>In a high-security Shenzhen laboratory, Chinese scientists have built what Washington has spent years trying to prevent: a prototype of a machine capable of producing the cutting-edge semiconductor chips that power artificial intelligence, smartphones and weapons central to Western military dominance, Reuters has learned. Completed in early 2025 and now undergoing testing, the prototype fills nearly an entire factory floor.

>The availability of parts from older ASML machines on secondary markets has allowed China to build a domestic prototype, with the government setting a goal of producing working chips on the prototype by 2028, according to the two people. But those close to the project say a more realistic target is 2030, which is still years earlier than the decade that analysts believed it would take China to match the West on chips.

>The breakthrough marks the culmination of a six-year government initiative to achieve semiconductor self-sufficiency, one of President Xi Jinping's highest priorities. While China's semiconductor goals have been public, the Shenzhen EUV project has been conducted in secret, according to the people.

SDL GPU is great. It's easily the best middleground between using something like raylib vs just aiming for vulkan.

>>107610578
>>107610859
Much appreciated, anon(s)-- I was getting tripped up by only looking at examples, cause most of em target PC and feel much the same about passes/dynamic rendering as you.

As much as a PITA setting up RenderPasses is, my application is probably their designer's wet dream-- tons of well-defined, highly-separable frame graphs that can update at different rates, half of which require a depth prepass anyway.

At least right now, my plan is to target 1.2 (I just need Timeline semaphores and buffer device address). I'll probably use 1.3 during development though... all for that sweet sweet dynamic rendering to keep my MVP timeline.

>>107614966
I'm using SDL3 and Vulkan, so naturally, I recommend SLD GPU instead lmao. Even if you're pretty experienced, there are only so many pages of documentation you can understand and turn into code per hour, and a basic Vulkan setup will takes a week or more of that-- dull, tedious, error-prone work, and that's only gonna be worth it if your application pushes the limits/breaks Godot AND opengl and the like.
>t. me, day 3... filling in yet another 4-deep struct to get instanced meshing and partial buffer updates working. Vyvanse dose running low, running on nicotine and alcohol now. If I falter... brothers, remember me.
>>
Can anons point me in the direction of a good source for leaning to code? Want to use godot since it's supposed to be beginner friendly. I found a few how to use godot turotials but they all assume i have experience with coding. I'm pretty much starting from zero knowledge.
>>
>>107614966
I have not tried SDL3 but I can say, as someone who had never written a single line of GPU API code (or shaders), Vulkan is not that hard nowadays. It took me about two months from starting with it to having meshes, textures, and point lights working. This includes quite a lot of infrastructure work to make it scaleable and not drive me mad later. Another month to get clustered forward rendering going and moving both draw call generation and mesh/light culling to the GPU, as well as getting ImGui running. This was with an average of 3 or so hours a day (so lets say 200 hours).

Obviously AI is a lifesaver, if I had to google for answers to things it would likely have taken 2-3x as much (however no code was written by AI, it really isn't reliable for more complex things like this).

Yes there is a lot more to do (e.g. I don't have shadows), but a lot of it is just graphics programming now, most of the work happens in shaders where it doesn't matter much what you use as graphics API.
