The first ad was:

I wouldn’t describe that as "product with music overlaid" as >>107688219 has, but it is crap. Sales exploded when the second ad campaign started (the one he >>107688219 linked, it started in October 2003. yeah I keep trying to play a video game.
Then the application hangs.
Then my task bar is unresponsive.
Then my entire system freezes.

Sometimes it just freezes entirely with no gradual failing.

everything works fine, until it doesn't.
Didn't have this problem for like 50 hours of gameplay. Now its consistently happening within 5min.

No idea how to fix the nvme/linux file system.
>>
>>107688146
The address space is the advantage. There's enough of it to go round to give every single device on the planet a public address and then some.

The protocol also fixes some of the historical missteps of IPv4 (for example, routers don't do fragmentation anymore)
>>
>>107688188
This. Why care what a window does while you're dragging it around as long as it works fine once you put it where you are moving it?

What's /g/'s opinion on Mental Outlaw? I've been a fan of his for a long long time, he's the one that made me privacy conscious and made me switch to Linux. I remember once reading in one of his comment sections that he was "bullied off /g/" by some guy, is this true? Also, if you're seeing this thread Kenny, hi!

Mental Outlaw to be good but for a long while now his videos became less informative and more commercial in nature. Shorter, made to advertise his based shop or whatever. Witty and interesting when you're a novice; lacking depth if you already know the subject matter of his videos.

I still don't understand why this step exists
It's after you've told your Mac to install a program, for some reason you also have to drag its icon into the applications folder? Is this a humiliation ritual?

If you open a dmg file, you basically just open a zip archive with a custom wallpaper and a shortcut to your application folder.
When you drag the application to your applications folder shortcut, you basically extract that application to the applications folder.
Also that app icon is actually a folder itself

I suspect that the internet might be pretty close to the point of being literally unusable

Today they just added a new kind of captcha that kept tripping me up before I actually stopped to read the first page, now you have to pick the one with a specific number of blank squares, not the highest.

can't bots just instantly read the instructions at the start of each captcha? What is the point of this switcheroo besides annoying people who got used to the captcha finally? Is there really a noticeable difference in computing power between picking the most empty boxes and picking a specific number of them?

I was against eSIM when I heard it was being forced on people with new phones, but after using it I'm convinced physical SIM should die
>free and instant network activation
>if your phone is stolen, you can't get physically SIM swapped
>makes more phones dual SIM
>GrapheneOS will wipe it if you enter your duress password
The only benefit I can see for regular SIM is it's easier to swap between phones, which is something hardly anyone does regularly

>>
>>107686878
esim
>your phone has an IMSI burned in, your carrier merely associates with that and let's you into their network
phys sim
>sim card has carrier registered IMSI burned in, phone reads that and uses it

unless you're using your phone as a worse tablet it's literally same shit. And besides that, phones already communicate with towers even if you don't have a card, most countries let you call emergency services regardless of carrier

trusting trust from thompson was from 1984, supply-chain attacks are the bread and butter of actual real life fucking wars but we learned fucking nothing from millenia of war history...
retards are pulling thousands of random shit from all over internet, putting their trust onto random internet strangers (mostly thirdies with poor opsec), it's pure insanity...
in real life we lock our doors, we buy guns, we put cameras and fences around our house but somehow when it comes to computers it's fine to give the front door key to random dudes on the internet...
dumbfucks, most people deserve to be ruined because of a keylogger they WILLINGLY installed on their machines.
personal responsibility does NOT stop because you don't have any tech knowledge, it's the same as with the law : 'ignorantia juris non excusat' as they said somewhere in europe some years and then some ago...
your 80yo retarded grandmother who gave 100k to some nigerian hacker deserve it too, there is really not a single good excuse, she learned how to drive before going onto the roads, it's the fucking same with computers which are more complexe and advanced than ever.

It's complicated, but basically you can use it as slighlty slower storage to vram, and yes primarily VRAM, but when model doesn't fit it usually offloads to RAM. There are also few fancy tricks you can do with multiple GPU's and RAM. Same with gen.5 nvme. Also ram is useful or running several Virtual Machines.
>>
>>107687304
>>107687304
it's not complicated at all and it's not "slightly" slower. It's much much slower. Buying regular ram at 5 times the price to run an llm on it is retarded, just buy gpus that have a ton of vram on them and are literally made for that
>>
>>107677017
>Also I don't see why would I benefit from ram in a home server.
home server not media server
>>
>>107677017
how are you going to run anything on the server without ram to allocate to shit?
It took 40gb of ram to emulate 2 catalyst 9000 switches in eveng when I needed that.

been doing this for a while now. Every time I get an upgrade from work I ask if I can keep the old laptop. Same if they're throwing out old equipment.

I've recovered two Mac laptops, one of those retarded trashcan Macs, two Dell Latitudes, and an unmanaged switch. A while ago I got an XP-era Gateway and a Powerbook G4 from a friend who was throwing them out, and this weekend I powered them on and got an OS installed

I think my total computer count is 22, depending on what you consider an actual computer (higher with RPis, NAS, etc.)

I plan to keep doing this until I run out of space in my apartment, but I think the global supply chain will collapse before then and I might have to make do with the computers I have

mornin' retards and alike
