>>107825321WOW you love crts? Me too, what a coincidence hahaha.
>>107825321No.A big issue with comparisons is that everyone keeps comparing the top-end CRTs of that time with whatever junk people use today. Almost no one had the "good" CRTs. They were expensive as fuck.First gen LCDs were garbage though. There's compromises with all display technology, so it's not a clear-cut winner-takes-all thing, but overall, modern good displays absolutely destroy even the best of CRTs.

If you want a tablet and also want to draw, should you get an iPad or a Samsung tablet?
>>107829270This is simply not true. CSP's my main tool of choice, but for illustration on tablets the pros are all using Procreate, which android will never get.CSP on tablet is just a straight port of the desktop version and is not optimized for tablet, unlike Procreate, so Procreate just ends up being easier and more intuitive to use. The brush engine is better and more responsive. In limited capacity I see some JP artists sometimes using CSP for cleaning up some animation work. But even then I more commonly see studios like Trigger using Procreate to do this, keep in mind it doesn't even have a native animation function unlike CSP.Basically, unless Android gets a killer app like Procreate or CSP's brush engine improves (it has been completely stagnant for 15 years, so...) then you should get ipad. By the time the ipad is EOL then maybe android will have a killer app.>>107829802This is an even more insane suggestion than getting an Android.>>107828996Basically yeah. Anyone disagreeing doesn't know what they're talking about, artists don't buy android tablets for a reason. I have an M1 ipad pro and I have to say it's not even too far off from my Wacom Cintiq. These days even buying a basic cheap ipad and apple pencil is a no brainer for someone looking to get in to art, it's what I would recommend as the entry level tablet.t. animator who has been buying tablets for art for the past almost 20 years, my first big tablet purchase was a Wacom Intuos 4 @350 bucks. Insane to think that's what the ipad costs now.
>>107843680literally teach me how to be an animator from the startok this sounds like a retarded request kek but i've been an illustrator (obviously weeaboo style) but the jump to being an animator is so huge and confusing. searched some random posts and tips, and apparently "you dont even need to draw good to be an animator lol" what the fuck is up with that?
>>107843680My original post was about general tabletting. I recently got Lenovo y700 to replace my aging 11 inch iPad pro. Hell, even lightroom is unoptimized shit from a phone. So instead an ultra portable PC I got an overpriced manga reader. The whole productivity category is nonexistent on android. For drawings and shit I think there is nothing that beats procreate. Easy, fast and amazing interface. But if you're not that serious anything with any pen will do.

>>107845579Yeah like I said, on paper it's good specs, I was just not keen on relying on the basic bitch windows power plan settings to control everything in windows with it.Since it just reports itself as a "Smart Battery" (essentially making windows think it's a laptop battery) windows doesn't REALLY treat it like a proper UPS.Using NUT/WinNUT-Client and some custom configuration files and it at least has fairly robust automatic shutdown capabilities. Sadly the USB doesn't seem to give access to any of the deeper details (battery voltage, input/output voltage, current load, etc) but it does at least give the UPS state (on battery, or online (AC power)), and the battery charge level (as a percentage) which is enough to get what I wanted set up. While i'd love to see more of those deeper statistics, im not gonna pay APC $1900 for that.
