Freedom of what? To spend hours doing what could be done in minutes on Windows?
>>
I didn't know Parabola was still around, that used to be shilled hard here like 10 years ago or whatever. I don't use /g/'s flavor of the month distros. Fedora Plasma is my comfy place.

You could use NixOS without blobs and nonfree software by assigning variables related to that.

Other than better cameras, what is even the reason to upgrade anymore? I held S25, folds and newest iPhones in my hands in-store and they felt cheaper than this 7 year old masterpiece of a phone.

Is it better to encrypt an empty drive versus one thats already filled? Or is the process the same time length if you encrypt an empty drive and add new files versus encrypting a full drive?
>>
>>107670475
you can't properly encrypt a drive if it already has stuff on it.

My computer just took longer than normal to boot up and briefly flashed an error code. I noticed that my RAM had reverted to default speeds and checked the BIOS, which showed me that everything had basically been reset to default, from XMP profiles to my custom fan speed settings. I checked my event log for errors and the only critical event prior to this issue was a sudden power loss, which occurred on the last shutdown before this issue occurred.

Anyone know what happened?

sorry anon, i simply watched a representative example of an old television to illustrate how much smaller TV sets used to be. one without watermarks or any other bullshit.

here, i used ImgOps' tools to find a larger-resolution JPEG from a newspaper that had licensed the image. i hope this helps!

We weren't staring at video displays 24/7.

Television stations went off air at midnight.
Video-on-demand a relatively recent service; with the ease of clicking "next" to keep things playing, at little to no additional charge.
Personal computers not a common household fixture until mid/late 90s.
Smartphones not commonplace until late 2000s.
Menu boards all physical.
Auto dashboards all physical.
Relatively few computer based jobs, retail POS terminals not screen based.

when covid happened, I was mostly confined to my computer screen and because of it I lost my vision to see far.
take care of your eyes bros... it was mostly caused by me browsing and gaming with no other lights on but my monitor.

I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.

I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative.

After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.

Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

this is because the linux foundation never bothered to make their own sanctioned distro with the blessing of linus torvalds.
Notice how the BSDs don't have this issue?
That is cause these distros aren't linux as an OS but seperate OSes all doing their own clown shoe thing that just so happen to have the linux kernel.
The only saving grace to this hell hole will be steamOS since valve has pretty much already perfected package distribution unlike the zoo of most distros.
Theres a reason linux games don't release as snap, flatpaks or debs.. it's cause steam has already solved tthe issue and those are imperfect solutions. Hell even libre applications that aren't games are on steam like krita and blender.
At some point all linux apps will be steam apps. All because the macfag incharge of the linux foundation was too busy sucking corporate cock instead of helping fix linux.
