Im tired of being spied on and tracked by and taken advantage of by glowniggers, i just want to be able to speak my mind and not have to pretend to be some gay ass freak faggot just to make everyone feel fine and happy while not setting off any alarms. It used to be freenet or i2p where you could do that but im not so sure now.

Tbh I never understood the hype. Yes, broken in ones are smooth but all MX style linears would be smooth if broken in for 30+ years, mostly even better if they are Gateron.
Yeah just get Gaterons lul.

You think that's bad, I had to argue with Grok for the better part of 10 minutes while trying to get a comparison for coronavirus NSP sequences, telling it that it isn't classified information and that I am authorized to have the non-classified information. If LLMs refuse to compare and analyze whole genomes, it will be dead on arrival in STEM fields.

the "safety" teams for AIs like to focus on bioterrorism for stupid reasons so that's probably why, of course they are also creating models specifically for Biotech research it's just that you aren't going to be allowed access to them, Google has already been synthesizing proteins that one of their models is creating.

>Will the internet ever reach a point where we run out of room
Nope, because more storage will be added to central servers. Honestly, it's google's problem and by google I mean Amazon as they're the ones running the cloud.
>>
>>107717251
Don't know much about video compression/encoding but could one theoretically encode data into a video and basically use youtube as a free data storage?
>>
>>107729137
Again, we used to store data on analog media like tape, and transfer it via analog telephone lines. These would all distort the signal in the process, and it was fine. So for storing data in a YouTube video, you simply need to encode it in a way that it survives being distorted by the compression.

I know it’s funny to think of this as a le ebin troll farting out videos onto youtube’s servers.
But this is actually much more soulless than that.
It’s A/B testing for different genres.
There are thousands of these channels with generated topics other than, Scottish bagpipes or whatever this is, constantly running 24/7.
They’ll run them for a few months and if they get no views the channel will stop uploading and the bots will be rotated to a different genre on an entirely new channel.
If the bots hits actual viewers then they’ll keep the channel active to farm clicks.
Probably also trains the bot somewhat on what content bait works.

so what would happen if I use the most recent version of yt-dlp on linux mint 22.2 instead of the official-package-repositories.list? would the videos I download also require a more updated version of mpv/vlc to play as well? I tested out a live USB of Mint to see what version each had.
-Live USB / mpv 0.37.0 / yt-dlp v.2024.04.09
-My Mint / mpv 0.41.0 / yt-dlp v.2025.12.08
My issue is that the video either does not play (VLC) or the video lags and my CPU threads go bonkers. Here is the video for reference:
https://youtu.be/co-TFLbaZAE?si=jMDhc1BkKUWG91R2
should I just use a distro with more updated packages? I was on Fedora before but I hated Gnome. I swapped a drive that had Fedora 42 and downloaded the same video using yt-dlp and the video played normally in VLC

yt-dlp is just a giant python script. As long as it downloads the video you don't need to worry about the version number. It seems however that there is something wrong with your codecs. Did you enable them during the mint installation?

My system locked up and I tried REISUB, but apparently Debian sets /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq to 438, which means no signals can be sent to processes. I guess this means the E/I don't work. Is there any security issue if I enable these? I was able to get the machine to restart, and fsck fixed a bunch of inodes, but I'm wondering what I should do for the future.

Happens at every age and era. Don't tell you've never been
>born 1990
>become 20-30
>suddenly dressing and vibing like an 80s guy, driving JDM cars or whatever pretending to be an 80s racer. Your earliest memory is like 3-5 y.o. You don't start understanding culture until you're like 10 or some shit. By then it's the fucking 2000.

Or born 80-90s. Turns adult and suddenly wearing 50s-70s leather jacket and denim jeans, retro helmet, retro style bike etc. You're ever born in that era. We never lived it.

Born 50s-70s but pretending you're living like Indy Jones in the 20s. Or the fucking 1800s.
>>

not him, but "the '80s" has been a mythical time for as long i remember. it will permanently be "20 years ago" to me, it has the birth of home computing, the birth of consumer internet access, peak music. i know i'm romanticizing a time i didn't experience, and this probably the same deal zoomers are feeling with regards to the '90s/'00s, a different time of rapidly progressing technology which they just missed out on

How can you realistically get hacked from using an outdated OS if you're behind a firewall? All those meme vids of "computer hacked after 10 seconds of connecting XP to the internet" involve turning off he firewall, from what I heard. If the firewall is on what is the realistic attack vector where you get hacked because of an unpatched weakness in the OS? Outdated browser maybe, but that goes for any OS. Is browser security worse on an outdated OS?

I connect directly to the modem and the modem directly to the internet. None of that nat stuff exists over here due to dying retiree boomer town not caring enough to upgrade from late 90's adsl, so I secure my shit with Sygate.
>>
>>107728095
>this thing that functions exactly like a firewall isn't actually a firewall because erm... well, it just wasn't made for that, okay?
>>
>>107723003
firewall just applies networking rules. inbound or outbound packets either do or do not get to go where they want depending on the rules you do or do not have set. you still have to contend with all of this:
https://www.cve.org/CVERecord/SearchResults?query=windows+xp

https://app.opencve.io/cve/?q=product%3Awindows_xp

so the "realistic attack vector" is lots of shit you may or may not be running on your old ass collection of programs and scripts known as an operating system, actually. figuring that out is called an "audit" or "risk assesment." give it a try sometime instead of being a giant retard!
