>However they have massive manufacturing base that mogs the rest of the world.
Stupidest part is that Wallstreet and US megacorps built China's manufacturing dominance. Good job assholes.

I was thinking about this for some time, renewable is a joke, nuclear is too expensive, hydro isn't available everywhere and cause problems with downstream countries
Oil and Gas as energy sources are
>Scalable
>Cheap and abundant
>The price of a power station is dirt cheap
>Less variables that can reduce the output
>Tech can be improved to reduce pollution
Other alternatives are just failing to meet one or most of these criteria
The US current attempt to change Venezuela gov is a public declaration that alternatives have mostly failed and at best just reduced the need for gas and oil by small margins

XZ Utils + you could say the same thing about open-source Windows programs that people blindly download from GitHub. I'll consneed that Linux package managers are probably still safer since the big distros' repos have so many eyes on them, but I will never understand why they're worshipped as if they're magically immune to exploits like this

What's /g/'s opinion on Mental Outlaw? I've been a fan of his for a long long time, he's the one that made me privacy conscious and made me switch to Linux. I remember once reading in one of his comment sections that he was "bullied off /g/" by some guy, is this true? Also, if you're seeing this thread Kenny, hi!

Don't buy anything OTHER THAN IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™
>Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

Why ThinkPad?
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap
>Excellent keyboards, tactile feel and quiet + the TrackPoint
>Great durability: magnesium roll cage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop
>Easy to repair (most models), upgrade & maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model, spare parts easy & cheap to obtain
>Excellent Linux & *BSD support

Switching to Linux for gaming seems to be the popular thing these days and Steam is the choice for it. Whereas on Windows using GOG I can actually own my game and keep a copy of it, I'm not leasing it if the platform decides to just take shit back. Windows has better software support and freedom.

You still have to follow copyright laws since US law extends over seas to it's citizens. You could go to Mars, but the US still owns you.
>>
>>107674356
That's your fault for not making a local copy along with a backup for good measure. Literally the same goes for any kind of digital media, paid or free, since you have no guarantee of it being accessible on the internet in the long term.
>>
>>107673936
actual trannies have significant influence on troonix and its software ecosystem, because its yet another thing they hijacked. Apart from that, the vast majority (if not all) of major contributors to both linux kernel as well as software it utilizes, are heavily left-leaning, this includes even torvalds xhimself. I am positive that one day they will start compromising their own packages to wipe drives of people they do not like.

>lets say CDPR goes bankrupt and shuts down gog
they'd probably give you the opportunity to download it before shutting down. theres no way it can go bankrupt and just disappear, it has its obligations.

I’ve been running Linux Mint for over four years and was happy with it until the recent drama, especially the AI security scan fiasco. It really shook my trust in the maintainers.

I started looking for alternatives, but after testing hundreds of distros, none of them met my expectations for stability and reliability. I began to accept that my system would just break from time to time until I found a thread recommending Windows Seven as a rock-solid alternative.

After researching, it turns out this version is still surprisingly usable. It’s stable, reliable, and with extended updates plus a good firewall, security isn’t a major issue.

Has anyone else tried this? How did it go for you? Personally, I haven’t run into a single problem so far.

honestly this, the end user doesn't gives a fuck about what is going behind the scenes, he expects something to just work without problems
>>
>>107669021
end-users wouldn't and shouldn't care about all this shit
they expect justwerksness
software maintainers also do not package shit, and if they do the distro devs wouldn't use their package recipes, distro devs write packages from scratch
>>
>>107674342
yes, that's the definition of end-users, i.e. normal people
the opposite of autistic nerds like you caring about a bunch of shit, which should've been taken care of by the developers
