In a way, yes. Depending on the interviewer though, there is this tone with these bullshit leetcode style interviews that I can't stand. They say you can ask questions but they constantly give you vague answers or give this air about it that you're dumb.

It is elitist as fuck and I am at the point where I am debating just leaving after knowing it's gonna be some gay leetcode problem.

I do these on the weekends regardless but admittedly, I am not that good at them. But I dont let that define me since I think it's absolutely bullshit gatekeeping to the upteenth degree.

I did dev for 2 years and not once did I ever use any of these stupid fucking concepts to be completely honest. I have literally corrected dumb Zoomers on PRs that couldn't even center a div, let alone countless Pajeets that had "Masters" degrees but didn't know jackshit about computers, networking, or deploying shit.

It's all about basically templating shit that exists, match the Figma, fix the functions, match the frontend to the backend changes, fix bugs, add UI changes etc. At least that is what happened at the stupid .NET / React heavy shop I worked at.

I hate the dog and pony show it has become. I wish I could have gotten in during the goddamn dotcom boom and retired at this point since even then, if you wanted to do it, anyone would take you (if you were in the right place at the right time, a small caveat but you'd be retarded not to put yourself in California in that peak period)

I forced AI to break circular definitions in physics and act as a Game Designer for reality.
It ended up writing a "Universe Engine" technical doc and actual code.

We tested a 128x128x128 slice. Newtonian gravity emerged automatically from base constants.
It's not perfect, but it works.

I don't have the compute power to run a larger simulation.
Need someone with hardware to compile and test this properly.

Maybe I can put it this way, you've literally done the exact same circular logic thing you're describing.
You've taken a field of mass density and run energy optimization passes on it, which is the standard way of defining a gravitational field. It's just that yours is a slow implementation with extra schizophrenia. >>107650757
>>
>>107650784
You are confusing the RESULT with the INPUT.
Standard physics starts with the formula/definition.
My code starts with only the grid and the constants.
I didn't tell it to 'simulate gravity'. I told it to 'optimize energy'.
Gravity emerged as the most efficient state.
That is NOT circular. That is derivation from first principles.

And yes, it's slow. It's a proof of concept in Python, not a game engine.

I once tried to learn C++ but so many things just sucked:
The syntax, headder files, 1000 ways to do the same thing, the ((meta-)meta-) "build" system(s) and overall the feeling of the language:
It is like someone had continuously updated his hobby project without concerning other users.

I want to learn a modern language instead and chose Zig out of Rust or Zig as Rust seemed gay-coded to me.
Is it a good decision to learn Zig? Will Zig stay?

I dont see the usecase.
You should type the same thing only once.
You need macro preprocessor shit to make them useable.
>>
>>107651402
designing a language it makes perfect sense to hone it and develop features while building a large application and having a small pool of developers using it so you can replace features and refine things w/o people complaining.
https://youtu.be/IdpD5QIVOKQ

Or you can be like gingerbill and make a programming language for game development while never having made an actual game...

Or zig because andrew kelley had a pressing need for it because... he was working some some open source music software he also has never actually finished

blow made 2 very popular and succesful games over decades, and while making a third created a language to better serve that purpose, it just doesn't compare.
>>
>>107651254
include basically means paste-the-file-contents-here, so you need some stupid #ifdef constructs around the whole thing
artifacts of bygone era
>>
>>107651410
The use case is low RAM requirements and now backward compatibility. The compiler is stateless and it treats each translation unit as a unique thing so it can’t cross reference other files.
Rust for example is stateless at the crate level but you can’t have crate circular references.
The point of stateless at the unit translation level is that it let you build massive million line of code projects on 2 GB of RAM.
>>
>>107648976
Header files should be generated by the compiler.

Is there a way to tell just buy looking at a drive if it's a Power Disable/3.3 PWDIS drive pr mpt

I'm getting conflicting information from Seagate support and other hard drive/server part sales sites if the ST12000NT001 and the ST14000NT001 are Power Disable or not, after initially being told they weren't and ordering the latter.

I'm new to server and NAS stuff and I don't know how i'd tell the difference between plugging the drive in and it being a bad drive vs it simply being power disable, though obviously if I plug it in and it works then I should be fine?

because corporate benefits massively outweigh the risks
if i ran a company and had a network issue i would want to call one singular other company who is contractually responsible for support having decades of experience with said equipment, instead of 17 brand names and also no_name companies with nonexistent support.

again your argument is basically
>just wing it bro
which does not scale at all on a corporate level on the long run.

You can just use Claude Code. Even though the main purpose is for programming, you can easily tell it to do some other things. For example, I asked it to create a directory structure by years in my b folder, then I asked it to verify the exif data of each picture and move to the correct directory.
I could do that with a simple script, but I wanted to test out how well Claude could handle tasks like that. It kinda worked

On one hand, I don't think I've ever seen a PS5 game with real 4k and raytracing. I've seen game with one of those, after making massive compromises elsewhere (4k at 20~30 fps is a common one kek).

On the other hand, nowadays $1000 is barelly enough to get a decent ammount of RAM for a new PC.
>>
>>107640614
it's not.
software is the issue, basically 99% of the software out there are subperforming by a very fair margin, from firmware to user-space software, cpu are basically spending over 90% of the time waiting for data, it's insane.
hardware people are forced into complexe branch prediction and instructions because software are so incredibly dogshit that they need "intelligent" hardware to cope with the abominations devs spawn everyday.
