I really like it, much better than the snow sky, I can actually find music easily without having to click buttons for 1 minute.
Rockbox is great, EQ works perfectly, lots of small QOL settings, it works great on the y1 - I've had 0 issues, I made my own theme based off of iMMX (just inverted it basically)
The built in 3.5mm is satisfactory, I did wish it got a bit louder but I was able to resolve that by just removing the -2.5 preamp on the eq I'm using.
Battery life looks good so far - I have enabled airplane mode though so YMMV; the Bluetooth on this is trash which doesn't really bother me since I don't have any TWS/bt pos.
I already love this lil guy like you wouldn't believe, once you put in an hour or two of setup work it's well worth it and feels very comfy/personalized.

I own an MBA but I had never owned an iOS device.
I bought a used iPad Pro M4 and while the hardware is very good, the software is just total ass.

Was going to switch to an iPhone 17 after Christmas but now that I've used iOS for a bit I'm not so sure. It feels like using Symbian in 2011, just completely out of date compared to Android.
>>
>>107670939
everyone knows ipads are the only tablets worth using
>>
>>107670951
I never had another tablet so I can't compare.

But iOS is just terrible.
Swiping from the side of the screen to go back only works in some cases, not all
Swiping down to bring notifications doesn't work unless you bring it down like 1/4th of the screen
Can't swipe down from anywhere, have to actually move your finger to the top
Swiping down on the right side to bring the control buttons down, then you swipe up to dismiss it and instead it scrolls down even further to the next screen.

It doesn't even have app notification icons on the status bar. You have to swipe down just to see if you have any notifications at all.

It's ass

I just sold my iPhone 16 pro max, my MacBook m4 pro and my apple watch because of how awful the iPhone is. The phone is so buggy its insane. Alarm clock still fails to work out of nowhere despite being a over 10 year old bug. Keyboard is useless and missing universal back gesture is just awful design. The new iOS 26 ruined dark mode and made it look like a cheap toy, guy who bought my iPhone thought it was fake because he never used iOS 26 in person. Thats how shitty iOS is. But yeah riddled with 10 year old bugs that will get you fired and just bad design choices in general. I am a serious man so I need serious tech which is why I got an S25 ultra that actually fucking works. Its a shame because I liked the apple watch a lot and the macbook as well except Tahoe. Ugly as shit.

I use QubesOS with detached boot partition on 2 duplicated USB drives with any data that rests on the SSD/HDDs being encrypted with LUKS2. Whonix gateway is proxied through a VPN qube to hide Tor IPs (can't hide communication patterns) without bridges since bridge IPs can be farmed. Sometimes Tor through I2P outproxy or vice-versa or with different anonymizing network overlays. Clients used for browsing are only opened in on-RAM ephemeral qubes with no access to permanent storage. Attack surface is quite minimum since no extra things added like USB mouse and no PV qubes (aside from sys-usb and sys-net) are used for launching HVM qubes with qemu stub domains unless very necessary and every other qube on the system gets shut down first to keep information leakage minimum. A veracrypt volume with hidden storage on a permanent qube for data storage and plausible deniability.

what's your setup like?

>also, isn't it fairly safe running a pirated game inside flatpak bottles/wine application since it's a sandboxed environment, regardless if it's a VM?
flatpak uses bubblewrap which uses namespaces. safeness depends on how well it's sandboxed. never used flatpak more than once because I used to sandbox everything my own with bubblewrap / seccomp filters manually in the past on linux so I can't comment on that but I heard it's not so good.
https://madaidans-insecurities.github.io/linux.html#flatpak
so, I recommend learning how to use bubblewrap. it's pretty easy when you know how to, but setting up an isolated network namespace and then forwarding packets with custom nft rules isn't as straightforward unless you script it.

namespaces by themselves are relatively secure I think since they're the defacto sandboxing apis in linux and battletested by real software, as long as you make sure unprivileged user namespace creation permission is not set and you don't give exposure to more kernel apis by creating uid 0 inside user namespace (eventhough it's not real root, it can access more kernel code than a non-root user).

the main problem is it won't be a perfectly good sandbox unless you run a headless program. you will have to give it gpu device node and xorg/wayland access to run it in native performance and it exposes many attack surface. Also networking with network namespaces exposes more attack surface than doing it with Xen netback/netfront. Even if you don't create any network device in the sandbox at all supposedly. it's why qubes or another type 1 hv approach is more secure, the isolation is more ground up. GUI on QubesOS is passed with their own libvchan based proxy that has smaller attack surface than even a setup with VNC over network running in a headless vm with virtual Xorg framebuffer. I stopped using vanilla Xen for that reason.

Arch Linux decided to upgrade the default NVIDIA GPU driver to version 590. This change means that Arch Linux will no longer support NVIDIA GPUs from the Pascal generation and older—this means GeForce GTX 1000 GPUs and older.
7 replies and 1 image omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107666271
can you even do gens on windows? I imagine windows users would be fine with integrated, not like they need anything more.
>>
>>107667850
Yeah no shit they did, Arch Linux always upgrades to the latest nvidia driver as does every other distro that isn't garbage. The latest nvidia driver is bad enough, being stuck on an old driver is completely fucked.
Nvidia cards from Pascal and older generations will be unusuable on Linux until nvk makes them usable, because the 585 driver is dogshit.

As is the 590 driver, but that's beside the point. It's still a tiny bit less dogshit.
>>
>>107667850
Arch linux didn't do anything wrong. If they kept the older drivers as default, then retards like (You) would just bitch that they don't support the new GPUs instead. You can 't have two default drivers.

The problem here is 100% on Nvidia and if you're using a older GPU you can still install the older drivers manually.
>>
>this thread
Does the average Windows user just not install graphics drivers and expect the OS to handle everything for them? First thing I do on a gaymen PC in Windows is prevent Windows from including drivers with updates and install drivers.
>>
>>107667873
> Nvidia cards from Pascal and older generations will be unusuable on Linux until nvk
Nvidia didnt release signed pmu firmware needed for maxwell and pascal, without reclocking they are stuck on lowest frequency so nvk wont be much useful

Hi, I really like the Linux mentality and all Linux offer. I’m switching to Linux for my personal use and I’m very happy for that. But now, i want to switch my association to Linux. I’m a IT technician and I know the war of the data, the GAFAM… We use Windows because the people say: - "it’s more simple" - we use that every days and for personal use - 0 advantage to switch to Linux - what’s the data privacy? It’s not important for us - stop with your mentally of geek - Linux doesn’t work - Linux is the geeks users / IT users - bla-bla-bla and bla-bla-bla…

Please help me find arguments to convince them. I know that Linux is a really good solution and works very well, but I can't sell the idea itself. Please excuse my grammar, English is not my native language.
>>
>>107670268
The main answer I would give is
>Linux used to be hard to debug, but now that we have LLM on our phone, it's usually easy.
>>
>>107670268
you will take the blame when something inevitably goes wrong
>>
>>107670268
Unless your job depends on switching your company to Linux, don't bother. It's going to be a headache and too many things could go wrong. The exception would be for things like server hosting, then Linux is probably objectively better than Windows if you know how to manage it.
If it just works, don't be that guy who tries to change stuff and make it difficult for other people.
>>
>>107670268
>Help me to explain why Linux is better than Windows
Just tell them to explain why Windows is better than Linux. I have zero reasons to switch from Linux to Windows. Of course I have reasons like it is free as in money/libre, privacy, I trust the FOSS more than proprietary, FOSS is usually compactible and uses standard libre formats that you can export and import between random FOSS software. Linux is basically cheaper, easier, comfy, nicer experience in the long run. I have same experience on my old Android TV box (Ubuntu ARM version), on my old Android phone (postmarketOS), x86 desktop PC, laptops, UMPC and even if I log in to my OpenWRT router, it is mainly the same basic idea to use it.

Even as a non-tech-savvy, you have nicer time on Linux that doesn't need group policy, regedit, debloat scripts, cmd, powershell and all the other completely random proprietary shit that you have to learn just to learn something else when your master changes how things work or there is the next proprietary debloat application from the new e-celeb youtuber. Windows also does stupid stuff like forces the update that switches your "no updates" option back on in the group policy, then replaces your old working printer driver with the new broken one and does this in a loop even when you are searching random Windows forums to force enable the old one back. Windows had deleted all user files in the past, every application from calculator to notepad sends everything in real time to Microsoft. Good luck when you think you copied some number and you paste your password or private text into your calculator. Now Microsoft has it.

It is also nice to learn everything from LibreOffice to GIMP, only use Anki, Easy Effects, K3b etc. and be in this world where you can be anywhere and you just install these same applications every time for free without learning anything new. Linux is like a home where you can just be.
