literally who downloads music?

you can make the case for tv/movies because of the streaming service fragmentation, but this is not an issue with music...

yt-dlp, Spotify and Soundcloud covers everything, and NO you cannot hear the difference between FLAC and MP3 you tranny
>>
>>107732507
I mainly listen to music while moving and I don't wanna waste mobile data
I also don't need new songs because I have a curated library of songs I like so there's literally no benefit to streaming
also, there are streaming sites that offer flac, so I could get best of both

You are objectively wrong, there is even a thread at AB with over a thousand documented examples of torrents at BBT that are not at AB.

that thread is trying to get every release from BBT to AB

I'm not sure why you say boxing the type would make it harder. in situations where you'd want to box a value, if the language supported null as opposed to boxed types, you'd still have to handle the nullability with if myval != null, with the only difference being that now you're not straight up forced to include the check which could lead to NPE-style bugs

anon photolithography machines are scientific toys outside of a cutting edge semiconductor fab
you can't buy the machines, set them up in a building somewhere and start pumping out chips, it takes dozens of unique machines and hundreds of processes to go from blank silicon wafers to a finished product
Europe doesn't have any chip manufacturers that are even close to being able to use EUV

The thing I dislike about snapshots in /home is that a lot of software isn't suited it. Torrents, steam downloads, anything with a sqlite db in it. Like it won't kill you but its not ideal to be using CoW for a lot of user software. And I always forget to do chattr +C until after I started writing files there. Or, it's just unnecessary like in a git repo. It almost seems like it would be easier to make copy on write opt in. Once you have it turned off in a bunch of places snapshots lose some of their charm anyhow

Honestly, k8s and docker cannot even be compared because they are different things. K8s is a container orchestration system while docker is a container runtime. You can configure k8s to use docker as its container runtime, so it's one abstraction layer above docker in that sense. TL;DR you tell k8s a state you want and it maintains that state across nodes (servers) and pods and containers and other resources within your cluster.

you "don't have time", you have "obligations" and "responsibilities"

Reality of the matter is that you would burn everything to the ground and find a way if you truly really loved it and found purpose in it
The true crux of the whole shebang is that you realized that the mindless tech exploration gives you no real world measurable outcomes
Yea, you can rewrite firmware, optimize the kernel, spend a lot time ricing the OS, but WHAT FOR? What's the end goal of all that? Nothing but superfluous circlejerking, or worse yet "for its own sake".

If you truly want to get back I suggest to you to make a dollar amount on your labor and hours and then "hire yourself" for it. Find some project that you might like BUT that will also be profitable and will give you back your man-hours of work.
And if it doesn't work out and you don't get your moneys worth? You did a reasonable R&D exploration that costed you some time.

It is never a good idea to dismiss or push away bad feelings, try to understand them and then integrate them.

With Wayland, you don't have to. And you get HDR, working multi-display VRR and proper frame schedueling.

There is a perceptible improvement to using HDR over SDR. You're coping.
VRR allows you to have complete frames with no tearing, no buffered frames, no stuttering.
Supporting fractional scaling is objectively an improvement over not supporting it.

I did as well, Compared to today, it was astoundingly expensive not to mention this was still the era where in the US both incoming and outgoing SMS were charged per message or purchased in bulk packs as part of a subscription. It may not have been the data plan that you would have paid per MB like during the previous era or the massive expense of the pretty-much-only-corporate-subsidized-ExpressCard mobile data ,, but it was also a considerable addition to most phone bills especially as many were moving from flip phones with little data usage at all.

I'm eager to try it when it releases but don't have many opinions on it as-is.
The concepts don't seem bad and he's realizing them so that's good.
It build fast enough and can build useful enough tooling right now it seems.
And I like a lot of the meta programming and compile time features.
Waiting to judge the syntax and featureset too hard since things are unstable.
From what I've seen I remember it mostly being alright to read, and I'll have to see with some of the features if I actually like them or not in practice.

Technology has never been this user-friendly, it's never been easier to use a computer, even idiots and third worlders can do it.
The problem is that, at the same time it's extremely hostile to users, even if you're not using Windows the Internet and all the internet-adjacent services are anti-user and anti-privacy.
When was the last time a paid program or service got better and cheaper? It doesn't, everything is switching to subscriptions, those get more expensive, ads are added where they weren't before, features get removed and so on, and it's all unilateral, you have no say as they change the terms of the sale after the fact.
The only real answer is FOSS, even if you have to make some compromises.
