I mostly read manga but I own a Kobo Sage and Kobo Elipsa 2E, I have no complaints about either device.I only recently got the 2E and wonder why everyone talks it down for not being 300ppi, the extra size makes it way more comfortable to read on and I've noticed no problems with display clarity compared to my Sage.

A lot of apps I use don't run natively on linux and using wine would result in performance loss and weird glitches. If there are native alternatives then they're almost always vastly inferior (Photoshop to Gimp, Office Suite to Libre/Open etc..).
