I'm sure """AI""" is a subjectively valuable crutch for lazy, aphantasic golems with delusions of creativity. That doesn't make the slop generated by the machine valuable. They're just selling you a "creator experience" and you then supplement it by LARPing online and showing off your trash, but anyone who bothers to spend 20 seconds looking at your gens can see how shit they are and immediately realize you didn't bother to do that much yourself. It's really just about the LARP of creating something when you're incapable of creating anything.

I'm more baffled over how little hacking is going on. It's so easy to do absolutely anything with javascript, but these incompetent skiddies still can't do fucking anything other than "please please PLEAAASE download this shady-ass .exe and execute it PLEAAAAAASE". JFK didn't accomplish anything. Didn't even serve 1 term before inting. He doesn't deserve the praise he gets, doesn't deserve any coins or airports. Growing up in USA public schools, you would think JFK was one of the most important Presidents, he's lauded like Washington or Lincoln but the dude accomplished nothing except stealing one election and dying

>Obama = Ubuntu
Fits not because of the tagline, but because both were community-oriented and focused on accessibility and openness.

>macOS = Kennedy
Also fits because both were mostly about aesthetics and marketing and Kennedy came from an elite background just as macOS is sponsored by a trillion dollar corporation. “Not everyone could afford it” doesn't make sense for the macOS-Kennedy comparison though. What does “Not everyone could afford Kennedy” even mean?

>Windows 95 = Reagan
Windows 95 sold personal computing to the masses just as Reagan sold conservatism to the masses. Both also had very enthusiastic fans and memorable marketing. That's why they fit together. While had memory issues (kek), neither were best known for that and are still viewed favorably in the public eye.

>MS-DOS = Jackson
Lots of OS's have no GUI. Why does MS-DOS in particular suit Jackson?

>Windows XP = Eisenhower
"Boring and stable" describes Windows 2000 more than XP. XP had the Luna theme, Rover the search companion, and Windows Movie Maker. "Won't leave" is accurate for XP though. Eisenhower still had lots of supporters decades after leaving office just as Windows XP still had lots of users decades after being released. "I still like Ike."

Trump's second term would be W11: a fucking mess but it's supporters are willing to turn a blind eye to all its faults.

Trump's first term would be W10: Its fans stuck with it expecting the next iteration to be more of the same but it was worse.

Biden would be W10 ARM. In essence is the same as W10 but in practice is completely useless, doesn't fix any of the issues of W10 and has its own problems.

>aside from threadripper,
bro you can't just pretend things don't exist.

also for any application that uses avx512 in any major way, intel cpus get utterly demolished, and its getting worse as adoption picks up.

the 285k is not faster in all workloads, and is often slower than 9950x by a lot, and when it does win its not by much. and it uses alot more power in many workloads as well, completely negates the idle power advantage

I'll grant you that the 265k is more powerful at its price point. it does not have real competition.

the single threaded performance is not meaningfully different.

also there is no drop-in upgrade path . and its slower than the 14900k for many things. Its not good no matter how you slice it.

Cache never really benefited Intel though. It just covers AMD's poor memory performance.
>>
>>107631520
>and it uses alot more power in many workloads as well, completely negates the idle power advantage
It actually doesn't unless you have a 24/7 queue of full tilt workloads. If you're doing stuff at 25% or less throughout the day Intel wins on power consumption. That kind of work would be heavily single threaded as well so it would just be better on Intel. I'm talking from experience here on a 14900K I'm maxing out single cores so there's no world where I wouldn't want a 285K over a 9950X. A lot of workstation scenarios that absolutely crave single core speed over everything, it's legacy software and software that has no choice but to run on one. You are vastly underestimating the lead Intel has in single threaded performance. The 14900K (my P cores at 5.9GHz) eats the lunch of current gen Ryzen no problem. 285K more so. 270K and 290K soon more so.
If you need a perma-perfectly threaded render station sure Threadripper has no equal.

Intel CPUs are faster and more stable at getting down into ultra low power states without disrupting work. I can literally watch my CPU drop to under 5 watts if I stop moving the mouse and this has been the case since the 10900K days and prior. AMD tried to get into ultra low power states with Ryzen in the past but their shit would crash so they ditched it for perma 40W draw on a 6 core 3600 (just mentioning this one because I own it and I've tested this)

Drop in upgrade path is a nothing-burger for 99% of users who just build a system and ride it for a few years. You don't want to drop anything into an old board, AM4 was an anomaly and it's not going to happen that way again, except if we include LGA 1700.

Why did America outsourced parts of its tech industry?
21 replies and 2 images omitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>107629221
But is that not what Americans have? Their own government seems to actively support their largest corporations. Changing policy to benefit them rather than trying to break up their several dozen monopolies to promote better competition. Which would be a more true capitalist approach to things, and healthier for the overall economy.
I don't know. I don't think it's going to be good for Americans until they move past their seeming worship of corporations.
>>
>>107628323
Because they want slaves that are easily controllable and will do anything and everything that's asked from them else they get jettisoned back to their shithole country.

Blooming, sure. But even worse is the response time.
>>
>>107631064
That degrades things evenly.
Burn-in happens because individual LEDs degrade more than neighboring LEDs, causing an image to appear. If everything degrades evenly you don't get burn-in, your whole display just gets slightly less bright.
>>
>>107631083
Yeah, so eventually it goes kaput too. So it's far from "lasting forever".
>>
>>107631104
It just means you get like 70% maximum brightness after a decade of constant use.
Unless your display is in direct sunlight and needs to be super bright it's not a big deal.
