Buy what you want, right NOW!

How many posters here have ever heard a system like in OP? All super high-end components and huge horn speakers in a giant room? I've still yet to hear one like this, they're not common here in Canada although there's a new horn speaker maker Joseph Crowe who has a bespoke room kind of like this with all custom handmade equipment and huge horn loaded speakers
My room is pitiful in comparison
>>
>>107603033
most of these rooms and setups will sound, to put it nicely, very colored. they are far from neutral and are usually weird. makes for a cool first impression and wow moment tho

>>
>>107603168
If I understand correctly this guy uses quite a lot of DSP and goes for neutral colouration
Those older systems like in OP certainly may sound flat if tuned correctly, too, some of those speakers were (JBL for example) were made as studio monitors after all
Although I would imagine many of the "audiophiles" who own such systems hinder their performance by not using any modern setup techniques in their misguided attempts at "purity"
Would love to see the in-room response in any case

just get used to reading. the first proper book I read was 300 pages long but took me months to read. you just have to persevere. soon reading becomes piss easy. it's just a muscle. start with like 10 pages a day. look at some /lit/ charts, you might find something interesting, it's one of the best ways to find books in my experience (although some of it is dogshit).

all you need, just read then learn C and implement all the data structures you will be in the top 1%.
If you want something more relevant to modern computers read Media and Formal Cause by marshall mcluhan or some other media ecology stuff.

Understanding what a computer actually is, artifacts vs natural kinds, and the principles of order of artifacts are they key things to understand. Programming is not a unique thing in this and everything else can be derived through actual practice. Indirectly trying to understand these things through reading "specific foundational" compsci stuff that are not acutally foundational an any meaningful way is a trap.

There is some "skilled trade" esque books say for the specific things you are working with or trying to do say game engines or graphics programming or distributed data or compiler stuff but those are really just if you are actually doing them. All the mathematics stuff is largely a performative larp by people who think the universe runs on math. Read some of those if they come up but you probably don't need to read that many, there are no "deep" programming books because programming is not deep, it's a techne, a trade like plumbing. If you want to understand what underlies that you'll need to start with the greeks like any actual thoughtful person, ideally from the start but at least aristotle.

If you want to learn to program just do a bunch of programming, and read code/interact with good programmers.

Also maybe Donald Knuth's lectures on literate programming. I think understanding his approach is very valuable to avoid falling into false ideas about what programming actually is.

A while ago I was complaining about gpu passthrough, and just couldn't find anything about it. The issue was that linux was setting the powerstate to d3cold when the quadro rtx4000 I was using didn't really have support for that and couldn't recover. Turns out that the solution was to just to add this systemd service.

[Unit]
Description=Disable D3cold for passthrough GPU
After=default.target

[Service]
Type=oneshot
ExecStart=/bin/sh -c 'echo 0 > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000:c1:00.0/d3cold_allowed'

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

i guess i have exceptionally low quality cage nuts but this is ridiculous. seems i'm the only person in the world with this issue. even with the screw tightened to well past snug, deforming the plastic washer, it's not firmly attached, it wiggles against the rail. imagine the red line is the rack rail and the blue line is locked against the cage nut which wiggles. what gives?

Hi y'all, I'm working on (cough VIBE CODING cough) a Chrome extension that lets ChatGPT or Claude or whatever act similar to your terminal. There are two main things that make it like your terminal

>you can cycle through previous prompts with the up arrow key

So that right there are the two things that make it more like a terminal. I just started working on (cough VIBE CODING cough) this thing like 10 minutes ago. What other cool terminal-like features should I add?

Used Justina Valentine as a test subject just to verify Z-Image was actually capable of doing unique looking white women without any of the weird distinct Chinese idea of what white women look like (present in every Chinese T2I model ever made to some extent) creeping in. I'd say it passed pretty nicely.

Attached pic is the exact same seed / prompt with only the sampler and scheduler changing, just to make the point that changing those can make quite a big difference on Z but it's somewhat subjective which is best (can depend a lot on the subject matter, etc)
