TN/IPS already have awful blacks, maybe it's just the black floor that hides it
OLED and VA also have better gamma handling and in OLED's case it can not only properly track 2.2 gamma it can also properly display gigachad BT.1886 kino gamma(aka 2.4 gamma) making it more vulnerable to abnormally lowered gamma

The scrollbar got fucked up.
It's become harder to touch it to scroll.
Posts displayed on screen don't match with what the scrollbar tells you, which is evident if you post, get a (You), or use filters that highlight posts.
The release version has a brighter colored section at the center of the scrollbar that shows posts from the current screen which got removed.
Currently the scrollbar seems to use where it is in the thread's location to show posts, e.g at the top of a thread it uses the top portion of the bar, at the middle of the thread it uses the center part, and at the bottom of the thread it uses the bottom part. This may not be obvious on shorter threads but on longer threads like on /vg/ it's easy to spot.

How do people at this point in the game not understand that Google is an advertising company?

Do people really think that the purpose of Google is to provide free search that actually gets you exactly what you want? Do people really believe that they just offer the best in class maps and navigation and document editing and all other kinds of services that they offer for free just from the good of their hearts?

The Gtk theme is the default Greybird theme with a few CSS tweaks in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css. WM theme called default-4.6 was preinstalled with Xfce, but I made its PNGs and XPMs into a colors I like.
Icon theme is my own - sort of - it includes only icons I want to replace, then it inherits elementary-xfce theme. The panel is hackerman af. It's the default panel with transparent background, and the panel bg you see is baked into a wallpaper with Gimp.

My new year's resolution is to step up my insanity. Being a little insane outwardly in times of overt and obvious desperation has worked out so far. I once tried to learn C++ but so many things just sucked:
The syntax, headder files, 1000 ways to do the same thing, the ((meta-)meta-) "build" system(s) and overall the feeling of the language:
It is like someone had continuously updated his hobby project without concerning other users.

I want to learn a modern language instead and chose Zig out of Rust or Zig as Rust seemed gay-coded to me.
Is it a good decision to learn Zig? Will Zig stay?

zig does not have a stable release and probably won't for years so andrew could just break it completely
rust only seems "gay-coded" because cniles spam about troons like c and c++ aren't filled with troons

as cool as luajit might be, the language is horrible. it uses the shitty if/then/aids syntax, and array indexing starts at 1. i would never use it personally.

My problem with lua's syntax is that the nonuniformity of the various block open and close delimiters makes it harder to write tools to manipulate its code. For instance, I use a hotkey ctrl-[ to insert a `{}` pair around my cursor, but something like that wouldn't work in lua because for functions you don't have an opener but have `end` as a closer; for `if` blocks you use `then ... end`; for loops you use `do ... end`; etc

This is why one reason I prefer lispy syntax. BUT >>107658987 unfortunately isn't a replacement for lua's syntax because the ideologue who made fennel decided that early returns are a bad thing and so you can't easily do early returns in fennel (despite there being no technical reason why not)

I get why people like the english word block delimiters. But I find that when you work for a long time (100+ hours; which actually isn't that long given how long big projects take) in a programming language, all of its syntax is abstracted away in your brain, and the syntax doesn't really matter, at least aesthetically (it still affects your ability to quickly identify things, how fast it takes to type things, etc)
