>>107639554>damn I guess I should tell my manager and the hundreds of other engineers in my department that we're all not actually using Go, thanks for letting me know anon.they all live inside your head so it should be pretty easy. Hurry up, you need to take your meds so they'll all go away!
>>107639554>I don't think you know what the word objectively means. I'm sorry that you don't enjoy it anon, nobody is making you use it, you don't have to.The word "objective" implies a context, of course. Golang is objectively a badly designed *language*, if one judges it by precision and strictness. It is a a badly designed language in the same sense that PHP is a badly designed language. The language has awful constructs and semantics, and it promotes bad patterns. It is objectively good in other areas, such as having a standard library that contains everything from TLS servers to JSON parsers. I don't consider that sufficient, however. It is essentially a language that you may considered good if you prioritize other things than sound language design, for example toolset.
>>107639668>The language has awful constructs and semantics, and it promotes bad patternsAccording to who, the universe? Did God tell you this? How can you "objectively" prove this statement? You're just listing your personal opinions and saying it's objective. Saying "Go has the ability to parse JSON out of the box" is an objective statement, saying "Go has bad semantics" is not objective at all. You are redefining "objective" to mean "based on the specific metrics I prefer."
>>107639535>There are so many things that are stupid with that language that I don't even want to start listing them.Good, perhaps you could stop posting on /g/ too while you're on a roll.>>107639558Exception apologists are roughly equivalent to Evangelicals: a deep misunderstanding of the underlying nature of what they're trying to talk about displaced onto a trite desire for convenience in dealing with serious matters.

why are so many programming "help" groups like this? like, somebody will specifically opt into helping people, and then get frustrated when they dont do exactly what they expect. it constantly feels like im testing everyone's patience whenever i ask for help and its even harder trying to just learn everything myself, especially considering all the weird semantic differences in both the language itself and guides.like i can imagine a full script in my head but i wouldnt know how to translate it into the language im currently using. and on the offchance that i *do* get the help needed, usually its just "oh just use the blah function", so its not like i just Dont Know How To Code or anything i just dont know the shit thats specific to the engine, and its not like i can just look it up in a glossary or something because the words can be totally different from language to language, like how "object" in one language can be "entity" in another, and object in *that* language refers to an object in an array or something, so theres just a huge language gap that i cant really cross without the help of others, which sucks because working with others sucks
>>107640271Gamification of platforms like stackoverflow and reddit ruined help with any level of patience. People on platforms like that are there to farm votes and likes, which means they want to give you the undisputed correct answer to your question in the minimum amount of time and not get bogged down in side tracks, much less waste time with teaching some actual depth. Sadly, this mindset has now permeated the culture even in many communities that don't actually have (You)s to farm.People who are willing to sit down and explore the fringes of your question and do some actual fucking teaching still exist, but they are hard to find, as almost all the online help platforms that bring together such people discourage it. Finding a sensible person is your better but, though of course finding one is rather hit and miss, and also they will never know as much stuff as a whole community.
>>107640400>anon, stop trying to actually learn from your experience and regurgitate information insteadntabut at the level youre atyou have NO experienceand it is provided to you by your fellow programmersonce you acquire itthen yeah, its rational to say you learn from experienceyoure asking people how to do somethingand then say you will do things your way anywaysit IS a waste of everybody's time. your interlocutor's as well as yours
>>107640400>>107640532 contalso:if you cant translate an algo into your preferred languageyoure not writing your pseudocode with enough granularityyou dont have to write everything from the ground up eitherwhat i do, is that i have a high level overviewthen i write down all the discrete elementswhen im doing the latter my pseudocode pretty much translates 1:1 to the language im using (C btw. not exactly the highest level language there is)

wtf is wrong with youtube these days? I am watching this video in 1080p, the highest resolution, and it looks more pixelated than I've ever seen on a video. And it's not a temporary buffer issue. I've reloaded and rewatched from the start, and it continues to look like this. I also frequently have 20s freezes for buffering on a video when I have 500Mbps down speeds. Is youtube just cheaping out on bandwidth to save money or what
>>107640005so you have the same bitrate as OP and his complaint was valid
>>107637610Youtube routinely skimps on the bitrate but that looks like the original file was anorexic to begin with.
>>107637610Indian Hindu rape rat infestation, same cancer afflicting all of tech and all of human civilization.>>107638181I'm the opposite. The more money I cost jewtube, the less money they have to give to the ADL, IDF, and other kike groups- and the less money they have to bring over endless Indian Hindu rape rat invaders over on H-1B. Always turn up the resolution as high as humanly possible, and play 10 hour long videos while you sleep.
>>107637610Use the H264 stream, it's the best quality and highest bitrate
>>107638181I do. I use it for my 2nd monitor. It's a 27" 1440p display that sits about 2.35metres away from where I sit on my bed. I use it for youtube videos quite often so I either tag it for integer scale at 720p or just set the video to 480p and enjoy higher resolution fonts on subtitles.Absolutely no need to be downloading extra bits for something that I'm not fully watching at all times. 480p & 720p are kind of ideal for this. If I was trying to play a modern game with small text, it would be an issue, but works fine for me.Off the top of my head, the display only takes up about 14-15 degrees FOV in my peripheral vision too, if I don't need more than 480p for a 3ds screen, then I don't need more for youtube.
why do cordless vacuums still suck?
>>107630202I find they work ok for me, I tend to buy a new one every 12-18 months... my gripe is that the head units tend to fuck up and it's hard to find replacement parts... But then again, I only buy the cheaper ones. But now I stick to the same brand and have like 4 batteries...
>>107632317I know so many old smokers it's not funny.
I have a handheld li-ion powered vacuum. I dislike it because once that battery charge drops to 50% its sucking power drops dramatically and it struggles to pick up anything but the lightest dust.>so charge it retardI'm not trying to keep this fucking thing plugged in all day every day. Also, the filter gets clogged very quickly.
>>107630202Race to the bottom. It's more profitable to sell an underpowered piece of shit than to put an 80V leaf blower into a vacuum form factor. Shark proved this out and everyone else is copying them.
