>Y2k-futurism. Shit was shiny, metallic, translucent, almost alien-like sometimes. The most optimistic and embracing era towards technology.
This is what I miss the most about modern technology.
I miss how around the late 90s and the year 2000, the optimism about the next millennium was amazing. You really got the feeling we were going to bring the world together for the best, and things were all going to work out.
This feeling is almost impossible to believe for me and I lived through the Y2K era, planting trees and burying time capsules for the people of the future. The past must be a foreign country completely to zoomers, and the world of kids today is nothing but a hateful meat grinder.

And when you see the 1960s version of the HQ that's got space-age aesthetics, it feels appropriate because both eras were tapping into that future-facing alien feel.

Old thread image limit reached.

1. I usually get pro models, but this one is so fucking ugly, aluminum fucking sucked back in iPhone 5S days, your hand acid will etch the porous aluminum out, they made it more rounded so its going to be more resistant to that, but next year they will release a version that has those sharp polished accents like iPhone 5S used to have, and those will etch like crazy.

2. Whole massive bump is a good thing in that they should be able to fit the sliding lens next year for actual optical zoom.

3. the 8X is fake, its same tetra-prism of iPhone 15 and 16, but with bigger 48MP sensor they will be able to crop better and extract more from the telephoto lens. Glass is what limits the ultimate resolution of the sensor, so bigger sensor will give better image quality, zoom in to 8x on your iPhone 15/16 Pro Max right now and it will look the same just slightly sharper, just because of extra pixels, but its still a hack.

4. vapor chamber, metal encased battery, and ceramic coating are the only great additions, metal encased batteries were added some time ago but now it seems we have them across all phones, should be more user service-able, thank Europe for this, because our politicians here do not give a flying mega fuck, and they shit on you poor fucks who don't even have a trust fund. Ceramic coating is amazing if truly added, think CERAN, the "glass" that is used in electric stoves, transmits infrared, crystal structure makes it so it does not shatter from hot/cold shock, hopefully that also translates into shatterproofing.

5. Applel Watch - well, not much to say, hypertension sensor is great, but obviously limited, sleep tracking is fucking retarded, blood oxygen level finally gone it was retarded, you should know when you are asphyxiating from lack of oxygen, A MUCH BETTER ADDITION WOULD BE AIR MONITORING SENSOR!

6. eSIM - fucking cancer, you cannot change or move your SIM w/o carrier approval "for privacy and security." Get bent.

My iPhone XS that I’ve been using for the past 7 years has had horrible ghost touching for the past month and the left side of the screen stopped working. I guess I finally have an excuse to upgrade. The base 17 looks like a decent deal, it’s actually $100 cheaper than the 256/512GB models of the 16 when I checked last week.
>>
>>106537010
There is no reason to buy any of these. The Air is obviously the product of a failed attempt to have a folding iPhone ready in time. Just wait until next year.

>>106537363
I don't plan to buy any more iPhones after my mini dies. I hate what Apple has become, and the literal jeet shittiness of Android is the only reason I have kept the phone this long. Eventually I'm going to end up on one of those e-ink phones or the like.

DLSS FG objectively generates fewer artifacts.
Even FSR FG is already better than AFMF 2.1 because it has access to the game engine's render data.
Lossless Scaling shows you can do MFG without ML hardware, but AMD is developing ML FG to present more "accurate frames".

I use DLSS 4x fg literally whenever it's available and I don't think I've ever once seen it introduce artifacts vs no fg.

I wanna build a board like 4chan but for Christian discussions only. If I am just to get started I will probably deploy web front end on a free platform and the servers at home for now. Ill probably just build a new desktop and install Debian on it so it will run a few docker instances of a database and maybe Java or NodeJS backend to generate ids, confirm upload file formatting, generate captchas. I know how most of full stack works but dont have much experience with running multiple servers at once for the same front end.

Is it a common practice to run load balancer on multiple docker instances on the same machine with a powerful processor? Should I invest in AWS or buy a small server rack instead?

e/OS/ is nice and all, but beware - if someone snatches your phone and has knowledge of flashing Android ROMs (or has recourse to someone who does) they can simply flash the stock ROM and relock the bootloader and sell it.

Not so with GrapheneOS since they explicitly encourage you to relock the bootloader with their custom key, something Murena's OS can't do last time I checked. All a thief would get is a paperweight or at best sell it for parts.

Personally, I gave up trying to run fully free non-Google Android because when I tried GrapheneOS on my Pixel 7 Pro and then Pixel 8 I ended up wanting RCS (we don't just use WhatsApp much here) which meant I ended up installing Play Services... ending up with regular Pixel minus some key features like Mobile Payments and SafetyNet/PlayIntegrity passing (so some apps/games still wouldn't work).

it's how unicode codepoints show up on screen. for instance, some emojis are made my combining 2 or more codepoints. Also, each codepoint may be 'wide' meaning it takes 2 horizontal cells. Overall the support is janky, but that is due to the fact that terminals may handle graphemes differently

Went to a top 10 school for CS in the world and you're absolutely right. BS "tricks" you need to memorize to solve arbitrarily hard questions you can't solve without the "trick", which was mentioned once in an appendix of an optional exercise series, in last year's course.
Instead of learning the concepts you learn the various BS ways they make the test hard, based on tests from recent years, and ofc they don't change it much because they are lazy and busy with begging for research grants.

Nigger RIGHT NOW you are being tracked by AI cameras at your grocery store compiling your purchases and credit card, linking that to your face scan and name, which is also linked to the AI camera unit sitting in the parking lot that has already linked your car and license plate to your face, and it will continue to do so as you drive away, noticing where you are driving and at what time you are there, will be there next time, and plot trends to identify your shopping patterns.
Does not wanting your voice revealed on a platform that forces anyone who's partnered with Youtube to upload their ID and credit card really sound so farfetched, glowie?

I've seen a built in USB hub (though it'll depend if you have 1.0 or 2.0 - 2.0 supporting usb 3 speeds). Card readers, m.2 ssd adapters, HDMI ports, wifi adapter, even pcie converters. Anything that USB or pcie can do.
It's limited by speed though, 1 lane of pcie 1/2 (depending on version) so you won't get ssd drive speeds past sata (sequentially, that is)

I'm not a programmer, but I work in IT. Is there a way to actually protect images/videos from being used for AI training? I'm pretty sure it's impossible due to the nature of images/videos (even if you were to encrypt something, you could just screenshot whatever it is and circumvent it or edit out any sort of border/watermark either with Photoshop or AI). This is more of a curiosity thing, I don't really want a solution since I use AI all the time to jork it.
