What's more convenient from general view of apps accessibility, configuration possibilities, security and privacy, presence of documentation and general "just work, if you did it right" philosophy?

I'm using NixOS right now, and looking at GUIX with big question mark above my head, cause no source can explain normally it's benefits or downsides.

Alright anons, provided you have plenty of money in the bank, what would you do in this situation?
>contractor
>get assigned new manager
>new manager wants weekly hourly updates and schedules a daily 1on1 meeting to control what you are working on
I'm thinking about giving it a try for a week, and if I don't like the tone and expectations just refuse to go to more meetings and ask instead for clear, written directions on any tasks he wants me to complete. I feel like I'm in a PIP and I'm a contractor lol, so it doesn't make sense.
>>
>>107011731
>provided you have plenty of money in the bank
I would say no and stand my ground, document everything he asks for, and prepare a solid and polite justification for the time a higher up starts asking questions.
>>
>>107010572
The best manager types I've come across so far are the "chill but can be cold-hearted and pragmatic" types who only put pressure on the team when he himself is getting pressured from above. They will mostly leave you alone.

I dont know what its deal was either, AMD K10 CPUs were based and it was a 25w laptop chip with 4 gigs that performed nice when it was at the full 2.3GHZ, they even put in a 7200 rpm WD black drive with on a laptop is nice, I wish I knew about business class laptops at the time because even if I spent hundreds on a core 2 ThinkPad or latitude used on ebay it would've given a longer life, I only used that piece of shit from mid 2011 to late 2013

While this flowchart may not tell you anything useful if you are running Win10 in germany it, albeit unwittingly. conveys a lot of unintended information.

1. A multi trillion dollar company with tens of thousands of employees has someone in charge of a translation process who would rather use an energy intensive AI to translate a graphic rather than assign it to any native german spaeking intern who could do the job better for a fraction of the energy.
2. The result of this process gets published in their official correspondence to customers even though someone without any knowledge of the german language can see that it is a complete failure. Telling us that no supervision has taken place.
3. The only reason we are witnessing this profound incompetence is because it deliberately was made to be published. There is no reason to assume the behind the scenes works any better.

Everytime I read something about a Fortune 500 company it reminds me why I only invest in sub 50Billion market cap corporations.

I had to set my Xbox (yes, I know) to English because Dutch was machine-translated. "Save money" (as in a deal on the Microsoft store) was translated to "Opslaan" with means to "Save a file" instead of "Besparen". They didn't even add context to whatever they automatically translated.

Are Windows fags just mentally retarded? My girlfriend is a normie who's only ever used a Macbook her entire life and when I wasn't home and asked her to unlock my PC to find and mail me a document that was on my PC she did it without any issues. I was ready to painstakingly explain every step but not really, the biggest obstacle was dictating the password over the phone.

I'm looking for new external storage over USB. I've been looking through prebuilt external SSDs and turns out most of them are either cheap trash with reject NAND, garbage controllers and overheating cases or just overpriced.

In comparison an SSD enclosure lets me chose any quality NVMe SSD by myself and put it in a box.
But there are several problems with this approach:
1. I don't know which controllers most of these enclosures use. They could be cheap garbage as well.
2. NVMe SSDs are not made to be powered over USB wattage. What if they have an amp spike, but the USB connection can not provide it? Will my data gets killed?

Reliability and data safety is more important for me than pure speed. I hope some Anons have some knowledge on this topic and can help me out.

tldr: Are there good and reliable SSD enclosures on the market? Or are prebuilt SSDs the better option?

I'd say get an ORICO USB4 (AKA Thunderbolt) NVMe enclosure for $20 off AliExpress and a Samsung 990 EVO Plus. 1TB of fast reliable portable storage for $100. I'm not sure how well the phone/tablet will negotiate with the enclosure down to USB2/3 though.

I have this UnionSine MD202 hooked to my ASUS router with a 2 TB 970 Evo Plus, acting as a poor man's NAS. TRIM is supported. It's based on RTL9210B. The chassis is made entirely of aluminium, which is good for heat dissipation. When I plugged it into my desktop PC, I saw read speeds of 8.6 Gb/s. (I didn't benchmark write speeds because at that time I was more about testing my USB controller rather than the NVMe enclosure).
Can't say anything about reliability though. I didn't suffer "catastrophic data loss" yet, as far as I can tell, but I don't put anything important on it. It just holds my torrented media which I can always re-download.
Depending on the devices you're going to use it with, you may want to look for a 20 Gb/s capable one, but that requires USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 which is pretty rare. And you mentioned plugging it into phones/tablets, which even in this year often come with USB 2.0 so maybe it's not worth it in your case (also in mine because my PC's USB tops out at 10 Gb/s, and the router's at 5 Gb/s)

https://www.headphonesty.com/2025/10/audiophiles-budget-vs-highend-turntable-blind-test/

>In 2022, an AVS Forum member known as m. zillch ran a blind listening test that has resurfaced in 2025 amid fresh debates over whether high-end vinyl gear is truly worth it.
>In this test, he wanted to see if people could tell the difference between two turntable systems. One of which cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and another was worth less than a basic dinner out.
>When all votes were counted, 58.3% of 60 participants picked Turntable A as the half-million-dollar rig. But, they were wrong. Turntable A was the $78 Acoustic Research AR-XA, while Turntable B, chosen correctly by only 41.7%, was the ultra-luxury TechDAS Air Force Zero setup.
