Do you use light or a dark theme in your software, /g/?
I've been trying to get used to light themes because I lowkey think they look nicer but damn do they rape my eyes.

For phones, I always use dark mode.
For desktops/laptops, mostly light mode, but the browser home page and gimp use dark mode. Apps like discord also dark mode. Dark mode for classic GTK apps looks terrible imo.

Light when it’s light outside
Switch to dark when my monitor becomes the brightest thing in front of my face, usually an hour before sunset or so

Reddish dark mode is better for your night vision probably

US moves to bar CHIPS Act recipients from purchasing Chinese chipmaking equipment for 10 years in November.
US also tighten their export control, causing CXMT expansion to cut short.
Both CXMT and YMTC might be fully banned soon, they are still allowed to work with other companies and supply their memory for chinese market for now, this could soon change.

So? If this market is important to them they will make separate brand for it. Lets say Mi and Thinkpad. Just like Huawei and Honor that is completely not Huawei, I promise.

Does every option for e-ink devices just suck in a different way?

Kindle is an Amazon walled garden. Kobo and Remarkable e-readers don't have microSD slots and aren't even Android based. The devices that are Android are usually based on Android 13 and probably never going to be upgraded further. Older Onyx devices apparently used passive EMR stylus but recent devices don't. A PocketBook e-reader tries to sell you an "active stylus" powered by a AAA battery but doesn't even mention if it's AES or USI or some tech that's just incompatible with everything else, so it's unclear what cheaper third party styluses would be compatible.

Am I stupid or is there no decent choice that supports an off the shelf passive EMR stylus, a recent Android version, and a simple B&W screen?

I have two monitors and SDDM is prioritising my secondary screen: the cursor spawns on my secondary monitor by default, and my login splash screen only shows on my secondary monitor. I tried editing /usr/share/sddm/scripts/Xsetup as follows:
xrandr --output DP-1 --primary --auto
xrandr --output HDMI-A-1 --off

But it doesn't do anything even after rebooting.

Let's consider OCR.
The approach you suggest would require human-coded declarations of all possible phenomena that the ai might encounter. This is feasible in the abstracted world of logical space or when your component is surrounded by other components with strictly defined behaviour. For real life messy tasks there is an infinitude of possibilities.
The document scan might have a hair on it. That hair is paramterised by its length, position and orientation. Maybe there's an inkblot. The paper could be tilted. How do you handle phone scans?
Basically there are loads of tiny edge cases that each require full attention from the programmer

Eh... as much as nuclearfags want to deny this, nuclear power plants are huge security risk. If a malicious actor manages to attack them the damage they could do is immense.

It's still the best energy source available (if hydro and geothermal are not available naturally) but the risk nowadays is espionage and military action, not Chernobyl-type things.
